  1. The game has evolved to such an extent that I'm not sure either would thrive anymore, at least as a lone striker. Just not sure they'd have the all-round game required of a modern striker. Mind you, Gary Lineker--a great poacher of goals--said he loved playing as part of a three under Cruyff at Barca. But that said, regardless of whether you can accommodate a classic poacher in the modern game, our conversion rate has been absolutely, unforgivably, utterly fucking abysmal.
  2. Sounds reasonable but seems our coo's erse-banjo interface issues continue.
  3. Reiterate what others have said: that there's nothing much needs to change. I've been on FF since it was the old email list and feel a degree of loyalty to it but it's hard to deny that the proportion of absolute bumpers on there has increased. I'd hate to see the relative calmness and civility here overwhelmed like that (acknowledging full well that I'm not always calm or civil:oops:) .
  4. Even with all that sterile possession, we missed so many chances it was hard to believe at time. The best striker in the world would have scored plenty. Reckon my mum would've got into to double figures (though her heading lets her down, tbh)
  5. I don't think he's more naturally gifted. But he's looked more reliable, besides which McKay may want away
  6. He's one of the few players in Scotland I'd be willing to pay a bit over the odds to secure.
  7. He'll be away south before that. I'd hope we might come to a money plus players deal (Halliday? Waghorn?) for him as he's looked very good whenever I've seen him. But no idea how much of a priority he is. We've just signed wide players, after all, and haven't shifted any yet either.
  8. Garner may not have been used properly but neither is he good enough to warrant changing the system to accommodate him. Ultimately, he's just a pretty ordinary player at best.
  9. I thought that. Lad's built like a fecking tank.
  10. Fair's fair. Thought Jackson was decent on this. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/craig-whytes-case-anything-more-10574315
  11. They want him gone and we want him so there's a deal to be done, at least if no other clubs get involved.
  12. As oppose to Rob Kiernan, for example, who was hooovering up international honours with...nobody. If we're after foreign defenders, I like the look of that lad Varane. Reckon they'd take O'Halloran in a part ex?
  13. I just tell everyone it's in honour the great Roy Orbison who was a devoted Rangers fan. Wait until the fans hit the high notes on their rendition of Only The Lonely (with the BF doing the 'dum dum...yeah yeah' backing bits) next season.
  14. I agree but it's also up to the players. I've no idea what will happen with players like Halliday, Holt, McKay or Wilson but they've not exactly made a compelling case for themselves and that was the case before Pedro arrived. And, much as I'd like us to add to the Scots in the squad, if nae fucker will sell us players at a price we can afford, there's not a lot we can do. Fingers crossed the young 'uns come though strongly.
  15. Of course it's a bit of a gamble. But it's also quite exciting. If he play's even close to his potential then it'll will have been well worth it. Is it a bigger risk than signing Ali Crawford or some such?
  16. Lazy to label as South just because it's Hispanic. Obvious cultural similarities but wrong. My bad.
  17. Any signing is a gamble and, if we want an upgrade in class, given what we've got to spend, that's even more so. That's going to include players who've lost their way a bit or are otherwise failing to fulfil their potential. Pena's not a magic bullet but potentially a significantly better player than we might get otherwise. There's some risk of 'culture shock' but plenty of South Americans have settled fine in England or Germany. Counter that with a chance to play at a prestigious club with a huge support and decent facilities, a manager who knows you and putting yourself in the window for English clubs. Limburner's correct to note the potential risks but is refusing to acknowledge the potential benefits. And completely losing his shit while doing it.
  18. Play nicely, children.
