  1. Only slight thing is a 2 year contract , hopefully there is an option built in to it

The length of contract is probably down to the fact that he hasn't previously been able to hold down a place for any length of time. I see it as a positive act which is a million miles away from some of the previous ways of signing players.

  2. If that is the case, what is the fekin point? Let's sort this mess out properly and stop lurching from one quick fix to another. Saying that I have a feeling that after the utter drivel we have had to endure over the last few years on the pitch, if we show decent signs of progression the fans will buy into it and hopefully this will afford the new manager time to implement his ethos.

    Loving your optimism! :D

  3. Agreed but I think there is a marked difference. When PLG came in we were still relatively successful (despite McLeish's last season). He came in to maintain the challenge to Celtic and win the league. Warburton's remit is somewhat different due to where we find ourselves after 3/4 horrid years. He has to rebuild our entire system and philosophy as well as get us promoted. There is no point in getting promoted without a long term plan and foundation for success in the top league. That's the problem Ally had (amongst many tbh). It was short termism at it's worst. There was no long term vision

If Warburton fails to gain promotion in his first season, a large section of the support will put pressure on the board to make changes. Long-term vision will go out the window.

  4. That is not my experience of TBO and not one I have heard from many supporters. I take issue with your final sentence, that is bang out of order to say that Rangers supporters who only want to cheer on their team and sing good Rangers songs won't be missed.

I am guessing you are either in the UB or a supporter of them, and while friendly rivalry is to expected between the two groups, petty name-calling is below the belt. As much as I do not agree with the methods or aims of UB, I do not wish them any ill, just wish they would grow up, give up the pyro and the stupid new so-called songs, stop calling themselves Ultras, and back the team while watching the game.

It has most definitely spoiled my enjoyment of the game when I have been located near them at away games over the last couple of seasons, something I can never say about TBO.

You are just pissed off because they don't conform to the ideal of what a Rangers supporter should be according to that wee (now defunct?) committee that you were a part of. You talk of 'stupid new songs' yet it was you who argued for many of the 'old songs' to be discarded by the support. Can't have it both ways.

  5. Every time Mark Warburton opens his mouth it fills me with even more confidence. This is what we needed 10 years ago never mind 3 years ago. The guy is a breath of fresh air and I love the fact he has zero connection with Scotland, Rangers, The Media et all. IMO he will be the most important signing Rangers have made since they brought in Souness nearly 30 years ago. And as much as I hate to bring up the whole McCoist thing, I get the impression that by doing the simple things properly, this guy is only going to highlight how badly we have been managed on the field over the last few years. As if we didn't know already

A new approach was attempted when Le Guen was appointed. Let's hope that this move is given more of a chance than back then.

  6. No idea what you are ranting on about. I never suggested anything. You are the one who suggested it was Scotland alone.

My suggestion was if England has a population of 54 million and Scotland have a population of 5 million then it just may be possible that more people tune in to the English leagues. But hey anything for a negative post about Rangers eh!

I'm not ranting. I made a perfectly reasonable point about the popularity of, or lack of, the Scottish game on UK television. You were the one who jumped in feet first seeing what you wanted to see.

  7. Never seen them separated before. But putting other things in perspective Swansea and villa get tens of millions from TV only to end up watched by the same number of people as us.

The money they receive is based on the league. If each club had individual TV deals then I could see your point.

  8. My door or PM box is always open and yes let's.

If the figures are only for Scotland then the figures are very decent indeed

If? Your first post suggested that they were for Scotland only, indeed it's the only way that your words could make any sense.

  9. When the sound of the battle is over

It's shoulder to shoulder we'll stand...

Aye, right ye are. The pettiness and downright arrogance displayed by some beggars belief. "If you want to support Rangers, you must do it the same way as me." It's pathetic.

  10. Totally not het up but you just seem to want everything involving Rangers to be negative. Try going to bed and waking up in the morning, look out the window at the glaring sunshine, stretch your arms out and think : It is a new dawn, a new day and I'm feeling fine. It may help you see the brighter side of supporting Rangers.

When I need lifestyle advice from some random on the internet, I'll be sure to holler in your direction. Now, can we get back to these viewing figures?

  11. To put things into perspective how many more people live in England than Scotland?

How many more people have Sky sports in England than Scotland

    Are you on grumpy pills?

You're the one who appears to have got het up over me making an observation on the low figures.

Please accept my apologies as I had assumed that these were UK figures and not just for Scotland. They are far healthier than I first imagined. Are there comparative figures to show the picture nationally and to see how popular the game is outside it's own borders?

  12. It would have a huge relevance if you are on here defending the indefensible. That BBC Scotland are anything other than hugely negatively impartial when dealing with anything Rangers related.

What have I defended? Where have I claimed that the BBC are partial?

  13. It was actually a protest against the imbalance in their reporting' date=' and in addition there was a meeting with some of their head honchos who of course denied any wrongdoing. Probably the same head honchos who a few years later insisted on referring to our club as a newco and who dismissed complaints from bears until they were eventually brought into line by the BBC Trust.

But the point stands - and you seem to accept it, there was considerable mistrust of BBC Scotland prior to Whyte.

I find it strange you can be so critical of the Rangers support being duped when the same guy conned/duped the likes of Ticketus and (allegedly) SDM.[/quote']

Let's get one thing clear - this is not about people who were duped. This is about a section of the support which not only chose to ignore the numerous bits of information which were coming out about Whyte and his pals, but orchestrated a crusade to silence any dissenting voices. If these stories were believed by too many fans, all the momentum in their anti - BBC campaign would be lost and that couldn't be allowed to happen.

  14. Do you work for the BBC? Your facts seem as inaccurate as their's. He wasn't toppled he sold his controlling interest (or was conned out of it, depending on who you believe) on the 13 May, the Mockumentary The Men Who Sold the Jersey's was broadcast on the 23 rd May. Pardon my 10 day lapse.

No, I don't work for the BBC, not that I see the relevance. If I have got something wrong, then I am more than happy to be corrected. Fire away.
