  1. I said it before he was appointed, that I would happily give the Tims the title again this year and build a team and squad for the next 5-10 years. It's not going to turn around overnight and with the exception of Sionko I think all the signings are fairly young guys.

Letizi's about 33 if memory serves me but I take your point building a young team. Disagree about conceding the title because I think we can build for the long term whilst pumping their sorry asses.

  2. I voted for Ricksen. He's got experience and he's a senior member of the squad - if he can buck up his attitude I think he's got a lot to offer. Having said that I'm happy to go with whatever Monsieur Le Guen decides and if it's a P45 for Fernando then I wouldn't be dissapointed.

  3. From the bits and pieces i've seen of pre-season as well as the Motherwell game he deals pretty well with cross balls. He looks to catch mostly which if he does regularly and with confidence will be brilliant - something we've not really had for a while.

  4. It's a great position to be in. Inevitably someone will have to drop out but it's a squad game and they will all be needed at various times throughout the season. Cant fault Le Guen for the way he's shaping his team though - compare the way Mcleish done things it's like chalk and cheese.

  5. it's early days but the sionko & clement look like being key players. wee charlie was a revelation- begs the question why mcleish didn't keep him instead of loaning him to st mirren but would he have been the same player he his because of the experience?

Rangers chairman David Murray says the consequences for the club of fans continuing to sing sectarian songs will be grave.

The Ibrox club were fined by Uefa last season for "discriminatory chanting" and have been warned that any repeat will be more seriously punished.

"The supporters need to show a certain level of integrity and behaviour in the grounds," Murray told Rangers TV.

"But, if they don't, be prepared for the consequences."

Uefa has asked Rangers to announce the banning of such songs before every home game, one of a number of steps Murray has taken to attempt to eradicate the problem.

"We are creating initiatives for match days, we've been meeting supporters' groups, we've been meeting editors of newspapers, we have been pleading with the fans to show respect," Murray added.

"There is only so much the club can do. We can only reiterate it before every match.

"But, if we have a small group of fans who want to continue to behave in such a manner, they're doing no service to this club whatsoever and I am sorry to say it, but in the modern world we live in, that behaviour is totally unacceptable.

"You can only receive so many warnings and we will receive a stiffer penalty (if this goes on) of which every decent ordinary Rangers fan will suffer, so I just ask those people who wish to continue to sing such songs to please stop.

"You are jeopardising the future of our club."

  7. aye, i know what you mean. it makes the poor results easier to get over when you know we're playing entertaining quality football. looking for the wonder pass all the time is fine if it comes off but it's just desperation mostly.

  8. from bbc news....

Austria Vienna are upset with Rangers for unsettling striker Filip Sebo as the Ibrox club continue their pursuit of the 22-year-old.

The clubs cannot agree a transfer fee and Austria Vienna told BBC Sport last week that negotiations were at an end.

"Maybe they are trying to get the player on their side but that is soccer, sadly," general manager Markus Kraetschmer told The Herald.

"We have to search for alternatives and we need the right fee to do that."

Rangers are believed to have offered in the region of £1.2m but the Austrians are looking for double that amount for Sebo.

Ibrox manager Paul Le Guen has insisted he will not be held to ransom over transfers.

And Kraetschmer added: "It is maybe a little bit like that, to put the club under pressure to let him leave.

I want the chance of playing in front of 50,000 supporters every other week

    Filip Sebo

"I'm sure Rangers will offer him a wonderful contract but we just can't let him go and not receive a good transfer fee. It doesn't make good economic sense.

"If Rangers want to make him a good offer, they have to make the rest happen first."

But the Slovakian international is refusing to give up on a move to Scotland.

The forward said: "Now, I am very hopeful of getting a transfer to Rangers soon, after the events of the past few days.

"I had a meeting with the owner and told him I wanted to move to Rangers.

"I then met with my coach, Frenk Schinkels, and he assured me that all the coaching staff are behind me and understand my position.

"Rangers are talking to my agent and I hope this can be finalised. I want the chance of playing in front of 50,000 supporters every other week."

Sebo joined Vienna from Artmedia Bratislava last summer and scored 22 goals in his first season as they completed a league and cup double.

the lad wants to come to rangers but the club have knocked back our bids which they are entitled to do. the way AV are talking is as if we've tapped him up. in which case they should report us to UEFA.

Calum Elliot grabbed the winner as Scotland booked a place against Spain in Saturday's final of the European Under-19 Championships.

The Hearts striker headed in off the post from 14 yards after a cut-back from Jamie Adams against the Czech Republic in Grodzisk Wielkopolski.

Scotland deserved their victory, with Steven Fletcher particularly dangerous.

But a booking for the Hibernian striker, who also went off injured, means he misses Saturday's final.

Tommy Wilson's Scots dominated the opening exchanges against the more-fancied Czechs.

Fletcher was put through on goal but stood on the ball with only the goalkeeper to beat.

The Hibs striker was then booked for simulation after stumbling under pressure from two defenders in the opposition box.

It appeared a harsh decision - especially as it meant he had to play on knowing he was out of the final.

Scotland were nearly caught on the break, but goalkeeper Andrew McNeill did well to turn a Martin Fenin volley from 16 yards over the bar.

McNeill's Czech counterpart, Radek Petr, did well at the other end to block at the feet of Michael McGlinchey after the midfielder was played through by Elliot.

Scotland's No.1 was fortunate to see a Marek Strestik header drift over after he failed to gather a cross.

A Fletcher free-kick was blocked clear by Petr, while McNeill followed suit to deny Fenin from close range after again failing to gather a cross.

A head injury forced Fletcher to be replaced with Robert Snodgrass at half-time.

And, within two minutes of the restart, Scotland were ahead, Elliot heading home off the far post after Adams had latched on to a free kick to direct the ball back into the danger area.

Petr Janda missed a great chance to equalise, driving the ball into the side netting from just six yards under pressure from McNeill after a goalmouth scramble.

McNeill was again on hand to block an effort from Marek Jungr from point-blank range.

But the Scots held on fairly comfortably to set-up a return match against tournament favourites Spain, who won the group meeting between the sides 4-0.

Javi Garca scored twice as Spain thrashed Austria 5-0 in the other semi-final, the other goals coming from Jeffr©n Su¡rez, Juan Mata and Alberto Bueno.

  10. Sebo is still the most likely target...

This Sebo thing is turning into a bit of a sago now. Apparently Rangers are to go back and make another bid despite AV saying that they are not interested in selling him.

Somebody wake me up when he eventually signs!
