Just my opinion. Religion has no bearing on my life. Rangers is my football team and whether it's roots are Protestant is, for me, irrelevant. In the same way the fact that Celtic have an Irish/Catholic history is irrelevant to me. For me, it's about football. Others choose to make it into something else and use it as an excuse to discriminate against others, be bigoted, racist etc and for me there's no place for that in any walk of society. For Rangers to move forward then I dont see a place for celebrating our Protestant history. As I said earlier, we cant hide it but it should be sacrificed for the greater good and to safeguard the future of the club

The strange thing is that I've heard that Jackson is/was a bluenose..... Anything to gain a reputation though, eh?

Whats the point in banning Zidane? It's irrelevant- he's no intention of playing again anyway... Can FIFA ban him from taking part in friendly's or testimonials?

I think we need to be careful on this one. Yes the Chairman has been conspiquous by his lack of response but for me, I prefer us to keep out mouths shut. Let them print what they want - as the song goes "No-one likes us, we dont care". If we were to take each innacuracy to task as you suggest then we would be paying more for PR and litigation than we would for players. I agree with your points about Linfield and having a positive and inclusive mindset although for me, embracing the clubs Protestant history is irrelevant. We can't hid it but we should be prepared to make sacrifices and move on.

You must be stupid to take drugs if your a professional sportsman. Strange though that he gets a ban for 7 months. How long was Mutu banned for?
-
I think we're fighting a losing battle on this one. Jackson might print a retraction/stroke apology but I doubt it. Any thoughts if suing the Daily Record for defamation of character a la Tommy Sheridan?

There's no point of stripping Juve of their titles if its not going to be given to someone else. For me it's part of the process of justice. Anyhoo, when are the 4 clubs appeals held?
-
Reckon he would do a decent job for Craptic. Not exactly going to get their fans wild with excitement though.

I find the whole Ashley Cole situation intensely boring. It's been the same thing for about 3 years.
-
I think they're entitled to it. Good opportunity to rub your enemy's nose in it too.

From Rangers official site. Thats really poor. If you dont have the resources to cover the game then dont agree to it in the first place. Who's going to refund the fans who've already paid to go to the game and have no doubt paid for deposits, travel tickets etc?

The only one I could see is Brian Gilmour....

Good point - Fleck is in the Under 16s Scotland team and I saw a bit of him playing in the home nations tourney between the home nations (I forget what it's called).

Someone made a valid point on the Clyde phone-in tonight. We might not have as many Under 19s in the national team but below that it's a different story. Taken from the SFA website - included in the Under 16s, 17s and 18s there are Rangers - 6 Under 16s; 4 Under 17s; 4 Under 18s Celtic - 3 Under 16s; 3 Under 17s; 2 Under 18s Hearts - 2 Under 16s; 3 Under 17s; 1 Under 18s Hibs, Motherwell and Aberdeen have around 4 or 5 each. These squads change all the time I would imagine but there's evidence that the future may be a bit brighter. Also, according to Derek Ferguson and Jim Duffy we have a group of Under 11s and 12s that are better than we've had for quite some time.

Cant believe its £19 for a ticket. Surely there's a case for making a ticket £10 or £12 and getting a packed house. I've no doubt there'll be a decent crowd though.
-
Doesn't look good. Cant see why Rangers would stop players playing for the national team so the only conclusion is that they are not good enough,

How many of their top players will want to play in the Italian 2nd Division?? How many will want to play for a club who are banned from Europe?

I've always found the NOTW a very interesting, articulate, informed and balanced newspaper to read. What makes you say that?
-
Yes, I'll go with that. Important to keep perspective no matter who we're playing - Am looking forward to the Middlesbrough and Bolton games as they should be better tests of exactly where we are and should see us play strong teams for both.
-
Only saw some of the game but from what I saw we were pretty lacklustre. We had plenty of chances although the team that we sent out was far from top strength. Sionko and Buffel only came on in the second half and we still have the likes of Boyd, Fergie & Prso to come back so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I reckon all the punishments will get reduced on appeal. Italian's have never been good at the whole justice thing.

At the end of the day, he's signed a one year deal so if he's mince then we can pap him and no great cost. Also he seems to have done pretty well in training and in the games he's played so far. By all accounts he seems to have a physical presence which is one of the things we've lacked in the past couple of years. Have some faith Danny, in Paul Le Guen we trust.
