Everyone underestimates squad depth. I want to see a deep squad full of the best talent in the league. Of course, we need quality too. Bachmann has been a solid 'keeper. It might mean Wes is on his way.

Maybe. I don't think SG wanting the player or not will make a difference. Financially, he's out of our reach, I think -- at least permanently.

And an ability to occupy the right spaces and chip in with a few goals.

I think Liverpool indicated they don't want him to go on loan again; they want a permanent move. They value him at £7M. Even if we could afford that, I don't think he's worth it.

Only in terms of squad depth, which has been a concern this season. In terms of first-team quality, probably not too much. The added benefit is it weakens the teams around us; I'm all for that. Kent's out of our reach, financially; I'm not too bothered if we get him or not, to be honest.

Good post. It's nice to read about the positives--of which there are a few. Worral is starting to remind me of Cardoso 1-on-1.

I actually thought all South American's went down easily. Luis Suarez and Diego Costa can be a dirty buggers, but the least wee touch and they're throwing themselves to the ground like they've been shot. Morelos needs to learn that.

When Morelos feels anything like that he needs to go down. Brown's thrown himself to the ground, giving the ref an easy decision.

Well covered there from Goldson, but what is Worral doing!? He's given it away a couple of times now! He actually did well coming out of defense, initially.

Fair tackle there from Brown... It was almost at his knees! Arfield looks ready for it, though.

Their CB's are better with the ball: Ajer brings it out constantly when there's nothing on, opening up the space. Our's try to force it, giving it away. It's a simple thing, IMO.

We're compact but we're not marking their midfielders! Ntcham especially has had too much space. Suicide.

I think Lustig, Boyata, Tierney and Ntcham were all doubts for today according to the press. Oh--look at that: they all play. The first two are actually a bonus for us, anyway!

I think that's a solid team. It'll be a counter-attacking game for us today. I hope our forwards are ready to take their chances.
