  1. So, will the Tims be singing 'The Cry Was No Defenders'?

    Ok I'll get ma coat....

As for Lennon, I said to the younger Bears on the bus last season that seasons like that, make successful seasons more enjoyable and we certainly have a few scores to settle domestically this season.

Bring on it Lennon ya wee bigoted tosspot

  2. Well, I phoned the ticket office yesterday to see if they could confirm what away games I had. The lassie was very unhalpfull saying that she would have to look on her PC.... Must have interupted her t-break or something.

Anyway, I finally got her to look and after giving her my name and address, season ticket number, Rangers number, credit card number, NI number, vlood type, medical history, passport number, travel club number, driving license number, birth certificate, marriage license etc, she informed me that I wasn't a season ticket holder and wasn't entitled to an away allocation.....

So, after convincing her that Rangers were taking money out of my account for 3 season tickets, that I had been a season ticket holder for 25 years, member of the travel club etc, she says 'looks like there is a problem'. NO shit Sherlock.

I was put on hold - for 15 minutes (prime rate - all proceeds going to David E Murray), she came back on, said that some of the away allocations hadn't been added to the system and that I *might* get a letter this week confirming my allocation and she promptly hung up.

No letter today and looks like another long summer trying to get the ticket office to do the fookin job.

  3. Cammy, it does not matter what is written in a book or you say your principles are if you dont live up to them. Ask Fernando Ricksen.

The Orange order has allowed its members to be seen drinking to excess in public parks with its members causing trouble and intimidating passers-by. FTP and Fenian ba**ards is more of a norm than a rarity. That is what the public see not a loving church going community.

Hating Catholics seems to have become more important than following their own religion.

Pete, having attended MANY Orange Parades, it is not the OO members who behave like this, it is pissed up people wearing Rangers gear that follow the parade and or certain bands.....

Anyway, we have veered of the topic - Andy posted a great thread about artifacts showing Rangers and Craptic being linked with religion and wanted to know if this was they way we should be portrayed.

  4. Firstly, congratulations to Rino on becoming a World Cup winner, the wee man had a very decent campaign and I am delighted for him.

However, I reviewed todays Scottish media fully expecting (tongue firmly implanted in cheek) full page spreads, colour pull-outs etc dedicated to Rino as an ex-star of the Scottish game. I fully expected Graeme Speirs to be eulogising about Rino;s thighs in a Larsson-esque gay fantasy article.

Well, to my surprise, Rinoââ?¬â?¢s affiliation to Rangers and the Scottish game hardly merited a mention ââ?¬â?? now, compare and contrast to the attention given to larsson after the CL final and in the build up to the Sweden v England game.

As I posted the other week, maybe Rinos refusal to swap jerseys with a Craptic player or his comments that Craptic fans, resplendent in their crucifixes used to bore him to death with talk of religion during his stay in Glasgow hasnt gone down too well with the TWATS (Tims With A Typewriter).

  5. The lad deserved a chance, but he was going to be behind 3, 4 or maybe 5 other strikers this season so it was never going to happen unless PLG saw something special in him which AM didn't.

That was the kids problem - I don't think there was anything special about him. Failed to impress when played in the first team and failed to impress when loaned out to Doncaster.

  6. Ok, this is from John over at GF who kindly offered it to my forum as well:

"Give it a wide berth bears

It has been suggested that the Rangers - Clyde match on the 15th July at Broadwood will be contested by the reserves and/or even youth teams.

Rangers are still scheduled to be in South Africa from the 8th July for 1 week therefore no 1st team players taking part in thsi "friendly" (not so sure about the

It has also been suggested that Rangers supporters who do buy tickets or turn up fpr the game will do nothing more than contribute to Clyde's spending budget for the season, which will be spent by Joe Miller and Tommy Coyne following the departure of Graham Roberts.

I have both read and listened to the claims and counter claims regarding anti semitic abuse, misappropriation of funds etc and I believe there are more revelations to come.

I understand that Clyde are on the verge of clinching an away shirt sponsorship with Dubai Property Services which would land them 250-300k but must dispose of the services of Roberts as a condition of the deal.

Joe Miller is directly linked to the people at DBS and rumour has it that Joes's mate at DBS may even be installed as club chairman as part of the deal.

For rhe record, Roberts has been cleared of the anti-semitic abuse allegation by the Canadian FA and no complaint was made other than in a letter to Clyde, coincidentally it was penned by Joe Miller's "associate" who, along with Joe made all the arrangements for the Canadian tour.

Imagine an ex Spurs hero, who still remains close to the heart of that strong Jewish club spouting anti-semitic abuse?

The allegation of missing club funds was made to the police by Roberts when the club's board made it clear they would not be investigating the claims, yet they are still unwilling to accept the statement from the Canadian FA exonerating Roberts from the abusive allegations.

I understand there was some banter at the game in question but it involved a questionable haircut sported by a Canadian player and a joke made to a "rather vocal" spectator -both who took it in good humour.

It would appear that the Celtic connection (and the board are all Celtic supporters by the way) will be running Clyde next season - well they should do it without the help of the Rangers' supporters money."

    Hope this enlightens folk.

That about sums it up :)

  7. why should rangers HIDE where they originated from?

but this is the truth of where we came from.

Colshy, Rangers were established by a group of youths who loved the game and wanted to establish a football club - at that time, there was no link to any relgion or organisation.

However, when the Irish migration started, the Protestants from NI and locally did chose Rangers, as Craptic were an established Catholic club.

the clubs owners are attempting to redirect the club and it`s fans now because it`s obviously not safe to be like we are with uefa watching over us 24 hours a day, but imo this is a good learning place for people who would like to learn or are ignorant of what precisely we are!

That is a very one-sided way of putting it - where in our history or tradition is it stated that we sing about being up to our kness in fenian blood or fucking the pope?

UEFA wouldn't have a problem with our songs / history and tradition if we stuck to songs that celebrated 'our culture' whilst respecting others.

    Cammy F

  8. I would urge all Rangers fans to boycott this game - it will be a second string anyway and given the way Clyde FC have handled the Graham Roberts situation, I do not think they are deserving of our money.

    Cammy F

  9. Andy, it is a very interesting post and comment - and It'll be interesting to read other posters thoughts on the topic

However, I still don't see how anyone would equate an Orange Sash, or even the OO and Rangers to bigotry.

It is a thorny subject, but to move forward, we can no longer ignore this and have to have an open and frank discussion about the links between Rangers, loyalism, unionism and Presbyterianism.

In fact, if we were to truely and openly celebrate the positives of Rangers, loyalism, unionism and Presbyterianism and educate the fans about the positives, it would spead up the eradication of the anti-catholic stuff that currently infests some of our support.

For instance, if you were to read the pledges of the OO you would see that members are urged to respect all other religions.

In an ideal world, religion would be seperate from football, but this isn't an ideal world and all over the world, football clubs are supported due to political, religous and racial believes as well as footballing ones.

Also, lets not forget, or let anyone taint what a humble beginning we came from. We were established by a group of friends who wanted to play football and decided to start a football club which is turned into one of the biggest clubs in the world.

  10. I'v just got a job set up working in the coffee bar in the Kelvingrove art gallery/museum so I'v managed to have a wee sneak peek at whats in there before the official opening 2moro...

There is a section that has some artifacts assocciated with both sides of the historic religious devide in glasgow, ie pictures of the pope and a china figure of King billy... which is definately part of glasgows history and I can understand why they would include it as it is meant to be a great new tourist attraction for glasgow and scotland and so gives some history of the city...

but one thing i found rather controvertial (especially as the museum will have the backing of Joke mcconnel and the scottish parliament) is the blantant assocciation they make with the 2 football clubs of rangers and c*ltic. I wonder if the club has been consulted about this, especially as we are trying to erradicate the 'direct link' as it were, without losing the history of it.

basically i find it hard to believe that rangers would agree to having a rangers scarf in the same cabinet as an orange sash where they link the two, especially after recent months...

Should the club be made aware of this?! what do you guys think? am i being too PC??

    Andy

Andy, what is sectarian about the Orange Order? Whether Rangers should be linked with the OO is another arguement. Ibrox was once a regular venue for OO meetings etc (along with Church / Boys Brigade and athletics meetings) so there is a 'connection'.

As long as the exhibition shows that the religous links are being eradicated (as religion is sadly from society) and that whilst both clubs used to have a link with one religion, both are taking strides to become inclusive (well, we are :) ).

I can not believe that this country is so quick to apologise and distance itself from relgion. Scotland was at the forefront of religous freedom and liberty, this is something that we should celebrate rather than apologise for (however, whether this should be linked to football is another question).

    Cammy F

  11. Far to far down the pecking order at Ibrox and its obvious that PLG doesn't rate the lad. From the little I have seen of him, he always appeared to be carrying a little extra weight and when given the chance last season didn't really do much (apart for his goal in Porto).

Hope he does well at Motherwell

  12. im up for it 50,000 gers fans doing this with there flags and banners really looking forward to it

If only it were that easy - what will happen is the band and TBO will get this sorted, will get singing up, only for McIntyre and his foot soldiers in Rock Unsteady to throw us all out. The rest of the stadium will prefer to sit back and moan about the football on show and the lack of atmosphere and only break their silence to sing the billy boys.....

Ibrox is a morgue and has been for a few years now - hopefully the PLG era will remeby this, but I think it is too late, there are to many people at Ibrox who don't want to 'support' the team (singing) for whatever reason.

    Cammy F

  13. There is a thread about this on FF and it appears that the band are learning this song and a few people have tried to write some lyrics around it..

It's a catchy, fantastic chant that we should be looking to adopt as soon as possible. I just hope that our support embrace this and get singing / chanting and bouncing....

Cammy F - Sos Cagon, Sos Cagon Loyal RSC

  14. Aye, imagine the entire Rangers support arriving at Parkhead before the gates opened and indulging in our version of this fantastic song / chant whilst doing the bouncy

Or, imagine The Copland Road stand rocking like the River fans in the 2nd video decked out in red, white and blue before, during and after an SPL game?

    And another video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WUL9faZ5dE&mode=related&search=river%20plate%20sos%20cagon

    If only...

  15. Good signing IMO and i think his displays showed that.I also know a guy who has never been back since and it was because he was a catholic, good ridance

Not argueing that he wasn't a good signing, but in hindsight, Ally / Hateley were the best partnership by a country mile.

In saying that, I can still remember the look on the Tims faces when MoJo scored a late winner at Ibrox.....

    Cammy F

  16. Sorry didn't see that word (needs sleep)

Oh right gotcha, i actually thought barry was under walter during his era.

Don't know why i thought that.

Technically, he was :) WS gave BF his debut, played him as a striker but then appeared not to rate BF and kept in on the bench / in the reserves.

BF was going to leave Rangers to progress his career until DA had a talk to him before taking over Rangers officially and got BF to sign a new 5-year deal.

    Cammy F

  17. Are they really THAT anti-Rangers ?

At the time, they were just looking for a stroy..... Think it was to ballance things up as they had the stroy of Tims battering MoJo's auld man and wanted something to show us up in a bad light as well.

Obviously, with season ticket sales and attandences rising they couldn't run with fans staying away (there were fans who stayed away, but in those days we actually did have a waiting list for season tickets!).

    Cammy F

  18. Doesn't mean SOME didn't tear up their season tickets though

Oh it doesn't - but lets not forget that The Daily Record and The Sun paid people to stand at the side of Ibrox and burn 'season tickets' and scarves etc.

    Cammy F

  19. The way glasgow rangers is being run today is nothing short of a abysmal.

I totally agree with that part of your statement, but can't agree that it applies to FR. He should be sacked ASAP.

    Cammy F

  20. the move from DA to AM seemed to bring a more relaxed atmosphere to the place, but also a lax one and maybe one where AM didn't get the respect he needed?

Given the McClelland incident, that appears to be the case. However, it was DM that underminded AM and Jmc on that occassion by refusing to sack FR at that point.

    Cammy F

  21. If Ricksen pulls the jersey on then he is a player of Rangers and would get my full backing as every other player does - but if he is sacked/sold/told to leave then I am at ease with that decision too.

That is my point - if WS had sacked Gazza, would you have been as at ease with the decision?

What I am getting at is that as fans, it is easy to take sides in all matters. FR isn't an intgrial part of the team, Gazza was and to an extent, his off-field behaviour was excused and tollerated (and I'm as guilty as anyone). Where, FR's aren't.

IMO, a club like Rangers should take no nonsence from ANY player, but the reality is some what different - Amo was found guilty of racially abusing a player and was only given a fine and suspension. DF was jailed yet received support from the majority of the fans. And the list of Gazza's faults is endless.

Personally, I would have sacked / sold the lot of them, but I am old fashioned and maybe a little to 'hard' when it comes to what seperates being a Ranger from being just a footballer and just a football fan.
