  1. I read in the Daily Rebel that he was never given a contract by C****c even though he won 5 spl reserve titles. He's also supposed to be a lifelong Rangers fan. Seems a bit odd.
  2. I can't believe this day in age drinking is still a problem with proffesional footballers. Have they not all learned their lesson by now. Barry Ferguson of all people should just look to his brother to see what can happen when you mix bevvying with football. FFS these guys have the best job in the world, get paid top dollar for it and are prepaired to risk it all for a few bevvy sessions. Most of them will have hung up their boots by 35, they will have approx 35+years to get steaming after they retire.
  3. I understand your point but I can't see the new manager changing this position, there are too many other ares that need strengthed first. Imo he has been one of the few players to be consistantly good this season. When the majority of the defence were collapsing around him he has been there to make some great saves not only in the spl but also in Europe. I dread to think where we would be if Letizi had not been injured. In every game i can see him becoming more confident, organising the defence and shouting out to players around him. Billy Thomson in a recent interview claimed Mcgregor is the most talented young keeper he has ever worked with and had no doubt he will become Scotlands No1. If we were to replace him with a more experienced keeper I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't hang around for long.
  4. Apparantly in one of the stories on sky sports news yesterday it was mentioned that PLG had requested to leave in September but Murray rejected it and asked him to stay and work through it.
  5. I agree with you that sacking PLG was perhaps not the wisest thing at this time of the season but I'm not convinced that things can only get better. If WS and AM are appointed I can't helpt thinking Dalgleish/Barnes and remember what happened there.
  6. I will not get my hopes up until I see the results/performances on the pitch regardless of who will be the new manager. After getting PLG I was so excited and was still dreaming of a long and successfull relationship even though things were currently as bad as they were. I remaind optimistic that given time we would turn things around and be succesfull again. Now i will just go to the games every week as usual and support the team becuase thats what is important now.
  7. I think Stokes has just signed for Charlton for £2.7m. It just goes to show how far behind we are when a club in crisis like Charlton can spend nearly 3m on an unproven quantity (at premiership level anyway) Way out of our league.
  8. ......and this old love could be bringing a mate into the relationship for a bit of three way action...he he;) very bizarre. But funny all the same
  9. I say we should sell Ferugson as well. At least we could get some decent money for him and start a fresh. He has done nothing to impress me apart from the odd performance this season.
  10. I say no to Smith as a manager, but maybe as a director of football or something. No matter what, it's going to be a panic decision as it is a terrible time of year to change managers. This is a dark dark day!
  11. Derby are not a rich club. This seasons team has been made up with free transfers and loans.
  12. a mate has just sent me a txt saying the same. I've found nothing on the net. Where did you here it from?
  13. Totally agree. I've said on another thread this could be a stroke of genius by PLG. It may be that Ferguson was disrupting things on and off the pitch, influencing the younger scottish players and generally going against everything the manager works on in training/team talks etc. I don't think we will miss Ferguson and we may even get some money to invest in a replacement.
  14. Has anyone stopped to think that maybe the poor performances on the pitch this season and in previous are because of Ferguson and his differing opinions. Because of the high regards he has at the club maybe he is influencing the younger scottish players such as Hutton, Adam, Burke and Boyd. If i remember correctly we played some of our best performances before Fergie came back from injury this season. I was a fan of Fergie before he left for Blackburn however he has never fully been that player since he returned. He is 29 now and is not going to get any better. We could still get some decent money for him and use that to bring in someone that will tow the line. Perhaps it's a stroke of genius by PLG. A decision that previous managers have not had the balls to make. Let's see what happens between now an the end of the season before we judge.
  15. We've all been warned at every home game about sectarian singing and the consequences, chucking stuff on the pitch at players is even worse in my eyes so good on the club for making this decision. If they just stood back and didn't do anything it would send out the wrong message to not only the supporters but also the SFA, UEFA and the rest of the watching eyes. We don't want or need supporters like that and I am sure there are hundreds, maybe thousands of decent supporters that will take their tickets.
  16. Agree. The only reason Boruc is classed as a better keeper is because he is older, more experienced and has more international caps. Mcgregor will get their eventually. FFS hes hardly put a foot wrong all season and some people are on his back for one misjudgment against c@£**c I personally think that if it wasn't for some of the fantastic saves that Mcgregor made in the European games our season would be well and truly over.
  17. Two different positions, so not a direct replacement for each other. Brown is a holding midfielder ala Stuart Mcall, Gattuso et al and Adam is an attacking left sided midfielder.
  18. I agree that we need to get rid of Buffel because he has contributed feck all this season and apart from a few moments of genius in last seasons campaign not much else throughout his entire time at Rangers. Plus he is one of the few bits of dead wood we could still get a decent transfer fee for. However I feel Brown is too similar to what we already have in midfield. Hemdani, Clement and Ferguson all can play the holding midfield role well. IMO if we are going to buy another midfielder it should be someone that can play attacking left midfield (perhaps Naismith)
  19. I'm not really that excited about this story. I don't think they would really improve what we already have in midfield. Who would you drop for Brown, Clement or Ferguson? Who would you drop for Thomson, Burke or Adam? We need a defender and a striker before more midfielders.
  20. After watching a recent interview on RTV, Billy Thomson seems to be pretty confident that Mcgregor will eventually overtake Gordon and become the Scotland No1. I'm fairly confident that no matter what happens well will still have Klos and Letizi until the end of the season so we will have cover until the summer at least. The goalkeeping position is one position we can forget about for now, it's far more important that we strengthen other areas of the team.

    Fergie

Yeah but he was the penalty taker that season so the majority came from the spot. I still agree though, he has demonstrated in the past that he has a lovely shot (remember the cup final free kick) and can finish well, it's just so frustrating when he refuses to come forward and support the attack.

    Uefa cup

Thanks for clearing that up Pete. I know in the CL when teams are level on points it goes on the head to head goal difference so I assumed it would be the same for the Uefa Cup. Never mind, just means we'll have to go and pump Partizan. Mon the Gers

    Uefa cup

Surely this means we have the edge because of the 2 away goals.
  24. Trailio

    Uefa cup

I think that even if we lose to Partizan and Auxerre win their last game we will still top the group because Auxerre will be equal on points but we have the better head to head record so will remain above them. Appreciate if anyone can confirm this
