  1. He is leaving because he doesn't fancy fielding a team against the new, improved Rangers, that much is obvious; surely?
  2. Dave King has burned his boats, and is spending the insurance brass.
  3. Another pay off? He seems to have been mining this lucrative seam for years. Nice work, if you can lose it......
  4. Wenger has 20 000 or thereby economic reasons per diem to remain in his post
  5. Huddersfield sports a vile strip, very reminiscent of fhilthfootbalclub's repellent "bumble bee" number, of a few years ago.
  6. Best played for The Irons at the time Johnny Speight's 'satire', which to be fair, it was, Till Death Us Do Part was riding high in the TV ratings for BBC. Alf Garnett, the principal character, an unadulterated working class East End bigot/racist/misogynist supported The Hammers, and found it difficult to accommodate Best within his racist purview. His answer, when challenged was to declare that Clyde Best was "one of yer educated c--ns". (I jest not). Speight was, at least initially, trying to satirise Garnett's prejudice, but, actually, seemed to uncover a whole audience of people who agreed with Alf's blinkered and prejudiced rants. Hopefully, we have moved on. I sometimes wonder.
  7. There have been one or two Bermudians who played in England: Clyde Best (WHU), Shaun Goater (Man Citeh) spring to mind.
  8. I hesitate to employ the word, as it has been, still is, overused, misapplied, and thus devalued, but Totti may only be classified as a "legend". There is no other description. I -we - can only admire, from afar, and wish him a long and happy retirement from playing.
  9. Broadfoot is 32; Lafferty is a mere 29, 30 in September. But I agree with your sentiment.
  10. We all hope that you are right. Brenda landed at the piggery to find a squad which, clearly, unarguably now, is significantly better, and larger, than any other, assembled during the seasons when his predecessors had a free run financially, and thus on the park, and vice versa. He bought 1 Eng Championship class player, and 1 forward, whom I suspect may be a 1 season wonder. Not, exactly an overhaul. He did lose 0 -9 to Barcelona, right enough, but that may be indicative of the poverty of the Scottish League, and no more. He has money to upgrade. I doubt that any of the usual suspects in Scottish football, those men whom Rangers "should have appointed", would be able to mount a serious challenge to fhilthfootballclub. A Scottish variation of Warburton's recruitment would fall short , compounding his felonies. Perhaps, to be fair, those guys may have a clearer idea of who could function @SPL level, and thus could finish best of the rest. As for challenging the scum, beyond a one-off game, or making any sort of progress in Europe - forget it. People forget that we are endeavouring to catch up after 5 years of financial disadvantage, and 4 years of mismanagement, on, and off, the field. To do so, in a timescale acceptable to the support, requires thinking beyond the rather limited horizons of "The Scottish Game", in respect of recruitment, training, coaching, development, and so on, all the 'football' things. It also involves taking a risk. This risk may be too high for some, but when you consider the prospect of the alternative, second best for the forseeable future, the repute of the Club fading into obscurity, why, there is little risk at all.......
  11. BDO? I thought that it was our friends Duff & Phelps who flogged them to Sevco Scotland (after, ahem, discussion).
  12. I think that they were promised something.
  13. Good on The Mighty Acas. Fuck Thomson, and all his tribe. Special Branch should have been all over that club years ago; Dundee United, aka 'The Terrors' and 'The Arabs'; need I spell it out? Let us hope it goes bust sooner rather than later. An arsewipe club, which may be beginning to realise that its friends @the piggery have actually wiped their arses with it.
  14. I will beg to differ on that; you could barely get decent beer in Scotland at that time. The competition was limited - McEwan's Export, Bass Special, Bass Export, Dryborough's, and other caramel pops, whose very names elude me, thank God. You could get heavies by Belhaven, and McLay's, but the former, was like plum pudding, more so in the bottle, and the latter with a sweet cloying aftertaste somewhat like honey. Not for me. Oh, and I don't " well over the odds for wee bottles of "fancy" beers like Italian or Mexican lagers".
  15. I am rather fussy about what I put over my neck, nothing by McEwan's for a start.
  16. Considered properly, there are only three Sports: hunting, shooting, and fishing; the rest are games, the greatest of which is Test Match cricket. Darts is a pastime; as is snooker for that matter.
  17. No, thanks. You would have to pay me £3 a pint to drink it, maybe more, now that I think about it. Sweet, fizzy, and with that odd McEwan's taste of wet rot, if I recall correctly.
  18. I knew that there was somebody, somewhere who drank Tartan Special.
  19. In football terms, Mexico is part of CONCACAF, which embraces North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and 3 countries from the South American Mainland (Guyana, Surinam, and French Guiana, which, more properly, may be a Department of France). CONCAAF's Gold Cup competition has its finals every 2 years, and I don't think that Mexico, the USA, and Canada, ie the teams categorised as North American, have to pre-qualify. These teams seem to be automatic finalists. So, if we sign Mexican internationalists, they will be likely to disappear every 2 years, much like African Internationalists would. To have work permits renewed will they have to maintain their Internationalist status? I am unsure.
  20. Not many Jimmy Millars in a pack.
