PS I was thinking this thread might be about the content of the ads - like some politician did on twitter once with an oposition site containing adult adverts, and in return was quite gleefully informed about how Adsense works.

Definitely sounds like an adware virus problem. I had something similar, and uninstalling/reinstalling didn't work, neither did my anti-virus. I tried a few fee antivirus programs and they failed - and some are pretty much adware themselves. I can't quite remember which one I found that works but think it was this one (but not sure, will have to check): https://www.malwarebytes.org/junkwareremovaltool/ A quick workaround while you're sorting it (and to search and download without being bombarded with ads) is to install another, less popular browser - such as Opera or Puffin. I found it best to download the installer with another device and then copy it over to the infected computer. Good luck.

Transfer Deadline Day: Michael O'Halloran signs until 2020

You can't force a player to go anywhere, they are entitled to see out their contract and the club are entitled to make it see him out. However, an unhappy player doesn't play well, and an unwanted player can find himself rotting in the reserves, so there is room for negotiation. -

If you feel you're posh you may be interested in the fact that Lidl stock the following Italian fine wines at a good price: Amarone della Valpolicella Brunello di Montalcino Bolgheri For France they have: Fronsac Saint-Julien Sant-Émilion Grand Cru You'll struggle to find wines of that prestige and quality in Tesco and Asda who are really chaving down these days. I shop almost everywhere: Costco, Lidl, Aldi, Waitrose, M&S, Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda and occasionally Morrisons. Iceland and Coop seem to be the two I never shop from. Depends where I am beforehand, what I'm looking for, or what wine offers are on... Not sure about a lesson in food but the point is that any stigma attached to Aldi and Lidl by Tesco and Asda loyals are very ironic... and Celtic fans are not in the former pair's class. -

Rangerstv as live footage not available in uk for some reason

Got a reply from support and it seems that the cup games are not availble till midday... As I pre-empted in my complaint, if the game is an exception there should be a message on the page saying when it's available. Spent half an hour messing with it, trying to get it to work. They did say there was a message on the home page at some point but in keeping with the whole annoyingness of the site, there is an autoplaying video that eats into your allowance and so I skip to the matches page as quickly as possible. I think the message was before the game in any case, so it wouldn't have been there after midnight in any case. -

I think you might be out of touch with British supermarkets: in Which last year, Aldi was voted second best after Wairtrose with Lidl Joint 3rd. Tesco is way down in 9th out of 10 so would have been more appropriate for them... -

Anyone know why the "as live" footage is "not authorized" [sic] in the UK after midnight? Really sick of this badly implemented service and would have cancelled long ago if it was a business not connected with Rangers. -

That's pretty good but it's harder to quibble when you're in business. I think if you take over a business things like this should be honoured and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a legal requirement as some type of creditor. Virgin Active also didn't honour some guest passes for Esporta that I had bought in bulk, when they took over the gym. I think the stupid thing about that was that it would have cost them virtually nothing to do so. It's not as if I'm now going to buy new passes to replace them - or EVER after the loss of good will. I also left them soon after. -

After reading his wikipedia page, it seems that MW hasn't always had him as a favourite. He dropped him for a while at one point and challenged him to earn a new contract - which he did, and then later sent him out on loan to Portsmouth where he was happy to stay, until he was recalled after 8 games. -

I'm finding this signing quite intersting as we've all being saying how we need a good holding midfielder and allow Halliday a more creative roll. At least Warburton knows it too and has acted on that. I think he was waiting on Eustace but the guy never proved his fitness. I think it could make a big difference to the team in terms of losing bad goals which is our main danger of dropping points. If he comes soon, I can't see Zelalem getting much of game, and think it spells the end for Law. -

Was going to say I haven't shopped there for 18 years since they refused to honour some Sport Division gift vouchers after taking them over in 1998 - but looking it up, that was JJB - sorry JD. I keep getting them mixed up for obvious reasons. That means I can start shopping there now... I'm ashamed to say I've given MA a fair bit of my coin before his connection with Rangers and before I knew about their working practices. But as an off topic aside - gift vouchers are a really poor present, you may be able (if you're lucky) to spend them in say 200 shops around the country but with this thing called "cash" you can spend it in ANY shop and it will always be honoured - and at least you can definitely find something to spend it on... -
Will new 'value' transfer approach yield dividends?
calscot replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes, but the massive difference is that he's not our player and so letting him develop doesn't really help us directly. If he was our player, I think there would be a load more patience with him. While loanees are here to be developed, they still have to give us something tangible now, rather than later when they're not here. -

I get the impression that we borrowed 6.5m - 5m to pay off Ashely and 1.5m for transfers - although I realise a lot of transfer fees are payed in installments. While I've no idea about this guy, at least he's someone our management team know incredibly well and he's played at a level which moved Brentford towards the top of the EC. I think to get our team to that kind of level is the best we can hope for at the moment as we just can't compete with the 90m Sky money that the EP sides are donated, and we really have to hope that bubble bursts at some point. Ideally, I'd like us to be a side that would be able to consisently win or get promoted from the Championship (the English one - how I hate how we copied their branding as it just diminishes us further as it's so hard to distinguish ourselves against a more popular namesake). -
I think the big thing here by the board is to assert that they are not short of money and that they make all the decisions of when to borrow and from whom. I can fully understand why King would not want to be tied to arbitrary money matching statements he didn't make. It seems RF should have had more private dialogue with the club about the possibility of a loan before asking the members OR should have made it clear to the members and public that they were finding from members if they were happy to offer a loan should the opportunity arrise - with no guarantee the club would take it. For the board, I would guess they would also prefer to borrow from people they know and trust, and have built a working relationship with. The RF board are an unknown quantity and there is a possibility of volitility there - we all remember the RST board meltdown. With that in mind, I think there is a chance the board would much prefer to accept the money as part of a share issue - although that's not been possible yet. However, the issue for RF is that they want to increase their shareholding - but instead of continuing to give money to share owners, they would prefer the money was actually useable by the club - share ownership AND funding. Without a vehicle to do that, what they voted on was ostensibly a very good idea. You just have to hope that while the money sits there, it's attracting a reasonable amount of interest. I think this shows why communication is very important.

Have they discussed the Celtic sectarian singing yet? I know the BBC haven't highlighted it. I don't watch BBC Scotland much but had it on last night and when I heard Rangers being mentioned the first thing I said was I'll bet you it's a really negative and biased story, and it was. -

Your thinking is wrong as your assertion in bold has no basis as an immutable rule. They may or may not be good enough for Rangers, we have to see how they develop and play for us. I can see that's your opinion but your thinking is creating hard and fast restrictions that don't necessarily exist. I personally think scouting is a lot more complex than the obvious of someone standing out as the best player in their league ahead of well over 500 other players, especially at a young age. It's also about spotting potential before it becomes too obvious to others with more cash, and as Frankie says, when an exceptionally classy player comes along, we're not going to be in the running. -
I think this is the correct decisions. I'm glad to see Fyvie get a two game ban and would welcome that for any Rangers players who do the same. It is blatant cheating and really bad for the professional game. I think this is where the SPFA should also be censuring the player - he cheated to have a fellow professional incorrectly sent off and there is no defensible reason for it. Reprehensible behaviour in any profession and in some you would be disbarred for something similar. As for Halliday, his aggressive behaviour is also very wrong but in football, which is bit of an exception, it is understandable when highly provoked in a highly stressful and emotional arena – especially when players get a bit dirty and overly physical in their play – which is technically violent. But it’s still wrong and punishable. As there was no actual tangible physical attack, a yellow seems about right as it’s more a demonstration of anger at what he perceived as being continually hacked – but perhaps there should be some kind of suspended sentence related to repetition. However, I do think refs need to be far more aware of situations where players are repeatedly getting hacked and nip it in the bud. It’s not that hard to spot.

With the precontract signed, AS are in a bit of a corner. They'll have to hold out for as big a fee as they can, but they don't have much of a sell.

Will new 'value' transfer approach yield dividends?
calscot replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I think the Templeton one is a tad unfair. He had all the hallmarks of being an exciting player and bluenose with Davie Cooper in his name to boot. It's just he is a statistic of one which hasn't turned out well - which could have a multitude of reasons including injury, the state of the club and starting in the 3rd division. I personally think that the board had no real interest in spending any money but saw that they needed a relatively marquee signing to get the fans on board. They probably also expected him to be sold on for a profit. But the main problem with this example is that as the only player in 3 seasons that had a tranfer fee, you get a success ratio of 0/1, which is a bit of a toss of the coin result, and therefore pretty noticeable. I think while we really need our big signings to succeed, and so recruited with great diligence, with a quick look to the past, we have to remember that no-one is a guarantee. It's easier to show a reasonable success rate when you have 5 marquee signings a season and your misfortunes are not so prominent. -

I think it's as valid as previous complaints of style of play. Just because so many people simpistically think always playing the ball on the deck is highly entertaining and effective does not make either assertion so. It can sometimes be incredibly dull and frustrating and I predicted that way before we adopted this style. There is always another team on the pitch and they are certainly not there merely to entertain the Ibrox crowd. I think there is a misconception that football is an entertainment with a bit of sport in there, the reality is that it's a sport with a bit of entertainment in there. For the former you need something like the Harlem Globe Trotters. You can still entertain by winning well without playing "nice" football, but ultimately not so much by playing "nice" football without winnng well. Ideally you want both, but if the previous sentence prevails, then it shows that winning well is more important than "nice" football. Personally I really like the way we are playing but would like us to perhaps use more variety of style to see it evolve into something a bit more effective against park the bus defences. -

If we had appointed any decent board we'd be playing in the SP. As for the manager, I think you're wrong. No decent manager would have finished last season without resigning - and the mananger with the best track record in the country had everything there for promotion and he failed (not McCoist) - if it were that simple, promotion would have been simple for him. I think the blind distaste of McCoist clouds people's memory of the full circumstances of the last few seasons and it should be remembered that while there is a slim chance we could have been promoted one season earlier with a better manager, it could more likely have been at the expense of a multitude of previous trophies. -
