  1. Davis, Edu, Lee and Thomson is a healthy cross section of CMs - Mendes is surplus.
  2. tbh we found them hilarious. Especially when they won a penalty then missed it. Ah, their pain was wonderful
  3. Been particularly poor throughout his career actually. An average player whose reputation came from some Hollywood goals. I remember how so many fans couldn't wait to see him in the CL. Well, he sure thrived there didn't he... Mendes can move on, a player who never did it at Ibrox, nor anywhere else for that matter.
  4. I'd advise that the popup bar and snow are eliminated. Possibly with an uzi.
  5. Boyd is in the form of his life, even if he had a terribly poor match yesterday. He's a player worth retaining.
  6. For the little rodent that he is, at least he's being honest.
  7. As long as it's no' tae us.
  8. I'm underwhelmed by Fleck. He's flattered to deceive, and I don't think he's an especially sparkling player. I look to Wilson who plays in a much harder position, and it's night and day.
  9. We didn't play because we couldn't. We had too many key players absent, and alien players in from the cold or out of position. If any of our fans expected our recent form to continue despite our problems, they were being very naive. I admit that we were horribly poor, even beyond the mitigating circumstances, but why is it that most these players and manager should be shot dead when they were being praised on Wednesday night? And after the Hibs slaughter?
  10. No hard feelings at all
  11. I did it too, years ago. Ended up in a rat infested shithole with one other bear. It was the OF at Parkhead where Laudrup beat Stuart Kerr with that grass cutter. And 'that' miss from Van Vossen. It was either this or listen only, and I would rather support my team than let tims stop me from doing so.
  12. Like I say, I am done here. I have no agenda, my point is as plain as can be, and I have no wish to get into this any more. I have my view, and I respect your right to yours. We got a point today, I'm just going to dwell on that now.
  13. Then we're misunderstanding each other. And it will only aggravate my headache. So what you're effectively saying is none of the evidence is valid? If I'm ignoring yours and you're ignoring mine, what's the point? Let us just move on - we got a great point today and that's all I really want to think about for now
  14. So, wait, is he a left midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a left winger, an advanced left winging midfielding attacking striker, or is he maybe a Frenchman with bad breath. We can all quote stuff Cannon.
  15. Actually, that's not the point he's making at all. He's using that as a guise to justify unfair criticism of Lafferty. It would be like playing Novo as a central midfielder, finding he's not very good there, then having fans giving him abuse calling him crap and saying he should be shipped out and his wages used on Boyd. Yes, he's offering nothing in midfield, but it's because he's out of position. If Kyle Lafferty was given a run up front and wasn't doing it, then I'd be in Cannon's court that he should be shipped out and his wages used elsewhere. But his basis for getting shot of him is unfair. And you seem to be backing him up. My disagreement was as clear as day. I don't agree with you when you say he offered something initially, even if it was only goals. Because when he wasn't scoring, which happened more than once, he was a paperweight. Why the hell do you think Walter asked for more from him - asked him to work on the rest of his game? If he just scored goals in games then there really wouldn't have been an issue. Then you're just ignoring plain evidence because it doesn't back your view up. Which is fine. You claimed he was a left midfielder. He wasn't. M8, I wish you'd see what my argument is rather than this gross misinterpretation of it. I am NOT defending his performance, I am criticising the abuse he's getting which ignores his best position. Lafferty will never be at his best on the left, or in one off games up front. He needs a run. That's what I am saying and I am surprised you can't understand that. Can anyone see what I am saying? Or is defence of anything related to Lafferty considered taboo around here!?
  16. I base it on those who I know to be massive admirers of Boyd and their subsequent views on Lafferty. It is indeed a generalisation, and one I hope which isn't accurate. But this thread's doing little to dispel it so far. I respectfully disagree. Cannon is clearly wanting rid of him and calls him idiotic names. I agree entirely, while Boyd and Miller are doing it, Lafferty is out of luck. And I think this is his curse, for he will not get a chance to prove himself for as long as both are doing it - and as a Rangers fan I'm entirely happy with that. But if he does get a chance in his preferred position, then I would hope he'll get more backing than he seems to be getting at the moment. As an aside, Lafferty isn't really competing against Boyd, he's competing against Miller, because there really is only one Kris Boyd. But Lafferty is a similar kind of striker to Miller.
  17. It was aimed at Cannon who said we should ship out Lafferty and use his wages on Boyd. So it seemed he was in favour of Boyd and anti Lafferty. Reasonable assumption to make? Sorry, but prior to his recent brilliant run Boyd was about goals or nothing at all. It's simply not true to say he either gave goals or his more recent form. He has had barren spells a plenty and was considered a waste of a shirt if he wasn't scoring. I wasn't one of those with such an opinion, that's from others. Not for Burnley he didn't. He played mostly as part of a 3 or 2 striker front. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/gamelog?id=67426&season=2007&cc=5739 No, my 'evasion' of this question was because where I am from is none of your business, and I mean that with no disrespect. But I will help you by saying I do not share nationality with him. All I want is for players to not be scapegoated when it's unfair on them. I support Rangers, I don't support abuse of our own players. 'Laugherty' indeed.
  18. I see how you continued your vague hyperbole and didn't actually address a single comment I made.
  19. I'm a fan of Rangers and I'll defend our players when I feel they're getting a raw deal and don't deserve it. Does this basically mean anyone who gives Lafferty credit has an ulterior motive outwith love for the club?
  20. Ok, I'll bite. First off our own club website lists him as a striker. Not a winger, not 'Martyn's 'attacking midfielder' but a striker. Secondly, his striking ratio last season, given he was been isolated out on the left wing for much of it, is 14 goals in 46 matches including 5 assists. He was rarely ever given a run in his preferred slot up front, but had unreal bad luck in that the two matches where he finally got that slot saw him get an injury right on half time in both games - one for his country where he'd run the line to perfection against Poland including a fantastic goal, and one for us where he'd run the line to perfection against Hearts including a fantastic goal. Then there was his opening goal against Dundee Utd in the match which won us the league... I've found though that Boyd fans generally can't stand Lafferty, and won't give him credit for anything. The boy has plenty of ability, but it won't be nurtured by chopping and changing his position and/or using him sparingly. Look how your lad Boyd has excelled given a run in the team. Yet Lafferty's just 'shite' despite not being given the same opportunity.
  21. (Apologies if this really belongs in the OF thread, but I felt it deserved one of its own; if admin feel it should be merged, feel free) I'm seeing a fair amount of criticism of the display today, and inasmuch as some of it is deserved, I felt today's result was an achievement rather than an overall let down. Our recent run of fantastic form saw a very specific system - and saw unchanged lineups bar Beasley's injury. Today saw the loss of 2 of our key players - Miller and Bougherra - one who dominates at the back and who has the pace to drag the ball out of defence, the other who has work ethic, movement and sheer running in abundance to hold the ball at the other end. Inside 15 minutes we lost another piece of the jigsaw when Novo was lost through injury. We had to cope with some chopping and changing at the back whereby Bougherra's skill was absent, a different midfield where Davis was back on his weaker right, the middle had the in-from-the-cold Edu and McCulloch, and the catastrophically out of form Whittaker made up the left. Up front the usual partnership was lost, and another one in cold storage, Lafferty, expected to run the line and immediately bond with Boyd. All of the above made continuing recent brilliant form next to impossible - we didn't get going because we couldn't get going - as much as Celtic aren't very good, at least they knew themselves and their system. We had 3 or 4 players relatively alien to the team asked to do it at the cauldron of Parkhead. Only one of whom has been playing 90 minutes - and that was only in the last 2 games. What I am saying is we've got away with murder - in a real state, we've stopped Celtic closing the gap - it goes down as an excellent result despite extremely trying circumstances.
  22. Is he the latest scapegoat? This thread would suggest so. Yes, his tackle on Robson was out of order, and sure, he wasted a move forward later on, but he tracked back and defended as much as he could given we had ZERO impetus going forward. Did you all expect him to come in from the cold, forge an immediate partnership with Boyd and immediately play like the ghost of Van Basten? It seems to me that now Rothen has been effectively given his marching orders, we need a new 'big reputation' character to assassinate, and Lafferty fits the bill.
  23. There are so many things wrong with this post I don't know where to begin. So I won't.
  24. I upgraded my PC for running games. Little did I know it would help run this forum too.
  25. I suspect he wasn't on your xmas card list Regarding guys like him and Hateley - they get abuse when they say something us bears dislike, but when it's something we like or agree with, we support their view. Tends to be though that when they say something disagreeable, the hatred which boils for them is far stronger than the support they get when they provide an apparent nugget of wisdom. I'll bet you the tims were irate like you when Hartson said he'd rather have Boyd than Torres in his team. Way I see it, by and large it's just a subjective view and the only difference between them and us is they're paid to say it, while we're just posting on here or chatting 'in the real world'.
