    Another excellent performance

While I feel a reluctance to read too much into pre-season friendlies, the other side of that coin is I would probably have been critical and worried if they hadn't impressed. They looked more than competent against top quality in France, and totally overpowering against what finished 3rd in Scotland last season.

What more could we ask for.

  2. Lazio may be a temptation for Morelos, and if they offered £20 million I expect the club would take it in the current environment. But I always suspected England was the preference of Morelos.

But even if that were the case if it were me no way I would turn down Lazio and the CL for a mid or lower end premiership side. If he could go there and prove himself in the CL the upper echelons in England would then be convinced. And he's still young enough to do all that.

  3. It looked like a controlled performance against quality opposition, albeit a friendly though there were tackles flying around that were far from friendly. A display of petulance from Kent took some of the shine off it. I'm looking for this to be his real breakout season. He needs to get his act together.

Football Insider, presuming that is where JFK got the info (might not have been) is notorious for being miles off - I wouldnt pay ANY mind at all to it - at 12 million I would imagine the club say "thanks but no thanks, we will just keep him for the season" as the 12 million wouldnt be good value compared to the goals and performances he brings (2st half of last season anyway...)

I know of no football insider claims. This where I got it from.

Everton are interested in signing the Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos this summer.

According to Area Napoli (via Sportwitness), Carlo Ancelotti is focused on signing the Colombian striker.

  5. As complete a circle of inconsistent illogicality as I could imagine. They're to be worried about because we lost to a relegated team last season. From there to they're an irrelevance like Killie etc.

Then on to me calling them an inferior irrelevance makes them think they're a rival but fretting about them does not.

All the way back to worrying abut them which presumably convinces them they're not a rival. While my consistent writing them off as an inferior irrelevance patently does.

Any sheep reading this forum will enjoy your rants about their poxy club - they'll make them think there's an actual rivalry.

I will continue writing them off as an inferior irrelevance. Which despite the bizarre non logic you presented here I can 100% guarantee will not make them the least bit happy.

Now you can have that last pointless illogical word you just can't live without. I will give it to you to satisfy that particular obsession. You can pretend it's a clincher that negates all the previous inconsistent non logic and maybe somebody can even enforce it for you with a like. Enjoy.

  6. Isn't that what I implied? An irrelevance we're far better than? Should beat every time?

And you think being written off by me as inferior suggests a rivalry they would be happy to see? Will Accies fans think there's a rivalry if I say they're an inferior side too?

But they would be more unhappy to see the likes of you after I write them off as inferior suggesting well we lost twice to a relegated team?

Bizarre logic that they would be happy to see my opinion of them as massively inferior. But presumably unhappy that another frets about it because we lost twice to another inferior side last season.

Thought this was a Rangers forum :roflmao:

I reckon that JFK made up the fixture list so that he could get his template "We are far superior to the sheep despite their claims to the contrary" statement in nice and early :ninja:

Take it easy JFK.... just some light-hearted banter.

We ALL know that we are better than Aberdeen, the league table proved it.  But we also know that we very, very rarely get an easy game against them.  Rather than focus on how superior we are to them my concern would be more aimed at why it is that every single season we get our first game away to what is perennially a tough opponent whilst Celtic get a shoe-in at home in the first game - the away game I get given that Celtic won the league and get to unfurl the flag - no issue there - however, why don't they ever get Aberdeen, Hibs or Motherwell at home in the first game to give them a proper test - every single season it seems to be a team who struggled at the foot of the table the season before - giving Celtic a nice easy start to the season.

I completely get that we "have to overcome them all to win the league" but every year they try to handicap us straight out the gate by giving us a difficult away game against opponents that always treat this fixture like a Cup final - every point counts and every year they attempt to get Celtic off to a flyer with 3 easy points and a game under their belt whilst giving us an away game to try to have us drop points against a team of hammer throwers (admittedly pretty much all teams we play are hammer throwers).

Thought it was a Rangers forum? Yes it is. And it's surprising/questionable that a  Rangers fan expresses the same degree of confidence I would be expecting the manager to impress on the team? Against what is an indisputably inferior side? Would anybody here swap their side for ours? Would they if they were honest?

Saying we lost twice to a relegated side last season has no more relevance to this game than saying we convincingly won home and away against the table topping side last season. Does that make the prospects look better? If not then saying they lost twice to a relegated side holds no water either.

And that's the point I was making. We are better than them. We should go into it expecting to win. Not hoping to win or being unduly fixated on results against another side in the previous season.

Would I have chosen it as the first game? No, but it's what we have, that can't be changed, and I go there expecting to win it. Always. Take it easy, just typical fan confidence I expect to be more common than not. Unless it's a fan who simply has an agenda of being pointlessly contrary.

Knowing and doing are two very different things.  We lost twice to a team that got relegated.

Which doesn't change my point a single iota. That point being we're better than they are, we know it and they know it. If you want to disagree on that point be my guest. If you want to be simply contrary which is what it looks like then every single game we play against anybody at all can be prefaced with well we lost twice to a team that were relegated.

Nobody takes anything for granted but I expect most, obviously me included but apparently not you, do have a degree of confidence in a superior side the superiority of which I doubt any knowledgeable opinion would dispute.

I also doubt the manager approaches it with well we lost twice to a relegated side mentality. I expect him to also be stating to the team that we're better than them, we know it they know it, and we only have to play to our capabilities to win it. Get out there and play to your capabilities.

Mate, On Sky they give you the option of canned crowd noise or the silence from the stadium itself.  The canned crowd noise is horrendous because of the delay.  And on the silence from the stadium the commentators are frequently apologising for colorful language.

I personally prefer the silence - wouldn't mind it in OF games next season instead of Andy Walker - he is the reason they invented the mute button

I watched on Fox Sports and there was no option to remove the canned crowd, it's simply not going to happen here given that there will be 'colourful language'. They even edit films for the most innocuous of reasons.

Just one example of that is 'The Matrix' which is a favourite of mine. Seen it on a number of occasions so pretty familiar with the script. There's a scene where the crew are trying to get a bug placed in Neo's body by Agent Smith out.

They get it out, Neo sees it and says "Jesus Christ that things real"

In Oklahoma that becomes "Jeepers creepers that things real". Just one of many language edits in the matrix alone and the the matrix is hardly hard core.

  10. Watched the Chelsea v Man City game and it had canned crowd noise which personally I didn't like. Wondered if a large part of the purpose in that is to blank out some of the shouting between players. Likely to be a fair amount of aw FFS and the like in there.

It must be disappointing for Liverpool to claim a Championship by winning it on the park.

I am sure they would have preferred winning it in the more traditional Sellik way, ie pulling Dundee's e-mail from the spam folder?

Next thing you know they will be claiming to have the greatest fans in the world. And maybe they need to get themselves a favoured terrorist group or two. Al-qaeda don't seem to have much of a fan base so maybe they could start there.

That aside Klopp would appear to have cemented his legendary status. He's now God like down Anfield way.

  12. No way Dykes is a replacement for Morelos. But in an ideal scenario Morelos stays and Dykes becomes an option. He did okay with Livi, you have to imagine he could do even better in a far superior attacking side.

Would be interesting to see him and Morelos together bouncing a defence all over the place. Would have to be guaranteed to create mayhem opening up space and chances both for each other and for others.

  13. I haven't given up all hope yet. I did at the time but that was an effect of the disappointment of the night. It's a tall order, 3 goals without reply but we live in hope. And even if it doesn't pan out it was a good run.

Pre season I remember people having little to no hope that we could even reach the groups again. Not only reached them but exceeded the heights of the previous season. And stayed in longer than them. A good run no matter what happens now.

All things being taken into consideration next campaign I would have been looking to qualify again as an expectation this time rather than just the hope of previous seasons. But the pandemic situation muddies the waters. For that reason i'm not so expectant as I might have been.
