Perhaps Walter has also identified wide players as targets - Petrov would appear to be one and who knows with more than 11 weeks left of the transfer window we might get a winger or two. Petrov would certainly be an excellent signing but I can't see us playing 442 next season with two wingers and having lost Boyd and Novo we really do need to sign a striker as Velicka and Lafferty are not the answer.

Perhaps Ellis has agreed Murray retains some interest until the HMRC situation is settled. If Murray goes away now then it may be more difficult to pin the possible £20m+ tax on him.
-
This lad seems to be able to finish but also has a bit of pace about him. Didn't catch all the video but did he manage any goals with his head - cause at 6ft + I'd be expecting an aerial threat. Hopefully more in the Cousin mould than the Darcheville!
-
Not sure what his wage demands would be - perhaps we could offer more appearance money. The bonus with Goncalves would be he can play centre back or left back (if that is a bonus) but I feel he's one of the few SPL players I would be happy to sign.
-
I agree he can be injury prone but I feel he has the credentials to be a very good player - strong and quick - and with the carrot of champions league football I reckon he would flourish into a fine player with us. With Celtic reportedly interested in this Spanish fella Ramis I wouldn't be surprised if we held an interest also.

Jose Goncalves on a bosman from Hearts please. Allegedly been scouting Honduran defender Jonny Palacios - younger brother of Wilson Palacios. And at the risk of a ban - Tonel.

Palladino was linked a couple of years ago - a creative player who can play centrally and in wide areas - sounds ideal. Did you hear this recently? Any indication of a fee? Edit: Is he not one of those strange Italian co-owned players - part ownded by Genoa and Juve? Sounds fantastic - more here

Correct me if I'm wrong but Walter hasn't dabbled in the Italian market since returning for a 2nd spell has he? If our reported interest in the Honduran, Georgie Welcome, is true then perhaps we are casting our net farther afield this summer.

Indeed. I knew Durrant had been to see Honduras recently, last week, and was supposedly watching Georgie Welcome and Jonny Palacios but trust me to go for the more expensive player. I just thought Suazo had already settled in Europe and is perhaps nearing the end of his contract and is a similar age to Darcheville when we signed him.

I hope he wasn't a big loser on the day

I wouldn't put it past Walter to try for the Caracciolo fella he was after a year or two back. If he intends playing 4-5-1 next season in Europe then we really need to sign a striker capable of being that focal point up front - someone who can hold the ball up and has the pace and movement to trouble a defence - I guess that player doesn't come cheap but I don't think Goodwillie, Tommy Smith or any of the current squad have those qualities.

Perhaps not on a bosman? What about Lille striker Pierre Alain Frau? 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season.

Given we only have a small squad of 14 or 15 then there isn't likely to have been much of a fight over shirt numbers. Having said that I don't think it matters nowadays what number you are given. Didn't Boyd have a different number before 9 became available? Whittaker is our regular RB and hasn't had No. 2 etc.

Do you have any idea if Ellis succeeds is there likely to be an increase in budget for players? Is AJ now looking upon the Ellis deal more favourably?
-
Personally I think Nugent would be a good signing but I doubt we have the funds for that one. David Suazo from Inter (Honduras striker) might be more realistic and I think he is out of contract.

No worries - thanks for sharing what info you have. Hopefully this will all reach a favourable conclusion soon.

So talks are continuing between Mr Ellis and Mr Murray with the suggestion an agreement has been reached but nothing signed as yet. Is there anything to suggest that the intentions of Mr Ellis have been put before the takeover panel (AJ, Greig etc) or has that process still to happen? Also, can anyone confirm if Mr Ellis was in Vegas? I heard he had a meeting with AJ, Bain and Walter.
-
Also rumours that Durrant has been watching Honduran pair Georgie Welcome and Johnny Palacios.
-
Really? £1.5m would be good value for a 25 year old. If we were serious I reckon Nugent would come here for champions league football over the premiership. £2m for a 30 year old Smith really makes £1.5m for Nugent seem a bargain and kinda makes you doubt the figures quoted in the article.
-
I stilll think they mean QPR and not Rangers
-
Really! He'd be a decent signing - 26 year old goal scoring midfield player. Not one to set the heather alight. Not a wide player as I recall and we're pretty well covered centrally.
-
Don't they mean QPR?
-
I really can't think of a team in the premier league that he would get a regular run of games in - Birmingham have just spent £6m on Zigic and that's where everyone thought Boyd would go. Villa were linked with him but I don't see him being a regular ahead of Agbonlahor, Carew or Heskey. Unless one of the promoted sides take a gamble I don't see where he'll end up.
-
Superb IF true. When can we expect confirmation.

I think the lack of clarity and communication throughout this affair and to be honest Murray's tenure has proven that the fans need to be involved in the future running of the club.
