I sometimes wonder if some supporters sit and squirm when they hear certain songs at Ibrox.

After Hillsborough, the authorities decided to change their approach to football.  Before that, it was something to be frowned upon - a pastime for the uncouth masses.  After that, it has been viewed as a money making opportunity and they've tried to drive the unsavoury aspects away, which has been largely successful in the English top division.

I get that people want a safe environment to watch the football but I had no idea so many football fans were such sensitive souls.  I feel embarrassed for any grown man who is genuinely upset about a song sung by football fans - you must've had an easy ride if that's the sort of thing that bothers you.

It's the middle class move into football. No standing, no swearing, no songs they dont approve of, prices rising to keep out the masses, CCTV and stewards everywhere to make sure they feel safe, welcome to PL football.

Also, it’s quite possible I’m being paranoid too. Like I say, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been wrong or daft.

We have all done that, been there and got the t shirt.

My thoughts are that we have to be very careful when deciding what to ban/cancel or decide what should or shouldn't be allowed under the free speech banner. Not everything if you'll excuse the pun is black and white as we saw with the Rangers dressing room songs and what certain people chose to call out entirely wrongly as it turned out. True free speech works both ways so we can't pick and choose.

Who gets to decide what is offensive ? Are you going to hand your free speech to a Nationalist government to decide what you can and cannot say ? Is that not what we accuse China and Russia of doing and claim it's abusing human rights and the freedom of speech ?

A good point but i think the ship has already sailed on those points. There is a massive free speech issue in this country and it is getting worse.

From cancelling people with different views at universities, to big tech closing people down views they dont agree with (Chinese lab issue is perfect example) to even cancelling the US President, then the SG wanting children to inform on their parents if they "mis-speak" at home and on to Corporates and recruitment firms trawling through social media of prospective or current employees.

The UK is not free by any means - and is probably now the most intollerent of free speech in Western Europe.

The reason for this is pretty simple. The left cannot bear the ongoing Tory rule in the UK. Labour have only been in power for 13 of the last 42 years (30%). Of course that was with their most right wing leader of all time. What’s worse, they have just suffered their biggest defeat since the 30s.

Even going way back as far back as 1922, the left’s time in power only rises to 35%. That is the single biggest issue for the independence supporting Rangers fans I know. They want a socialist utopia because they can’t put the blasted Guardian down

Agree with all, with following additions:

    1. And war mongerer

    2. Never gonna happen as it is never a Utopia when Socialists are in power anywhere, just ask the Venezualans.

    3. The Guardian circulation is now less than 100k even with bulk Union sales, so probably only 80k readers in UK.

Well who do you think had the best transfer window .

    Suprise Suprise, I'd say......Chelsea lol

Bought exactly what was needed in Lukaku and Saul. Quality upfront and in midfield and the cost was netted off by outgoing players.

Closely followed by Utd with Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane.

  6. Think Spurs could be the surprise package if they keep Son and Kane free from injury which is a big if. Liverpool struggled to breakdown a fantastic rearguard from Chelsea after the dodgy sending off (take note Arsenal on how to defend with 10 men). From the first three games I still see it as City and Chelsea battling for top spot with the Mickey Mousers, Utd and Spurs battling for 3rd and 4th.

I see the agent for Halland was asking Chelsea to pay him a basic of £820,000 per week, a nice bit of pay if you get it ,

Just seen that it is claimed by German paper Bild that the agent was asking for a 34m agents fee on top of wages of £820k a week and a £150m transfer fee so the total package was over £275million. Crazy and greedy, no wonder it was turned down as the release clause in his contract comes up next summer for £65m.

I see Lukaku scored on his return to the pensioners a win for Spurs but United could only draw what's the point of spending lots of money on Sancho and not putting him in the starting eleven  .

Lukaku was all over the Arsenal defence and was unlucky not to get another goal.
