Leicester City now deep in relegation trouble. Maybe need Jamie Vardy to roll back the years & rescue them

Don't worry, here comes Chelsea to gift them 3 points next Saturday, and we'll probably do the same for Everton the following week!!!

Chelsea have only scored 23 league goals this season. Haaland has something like 26 league goals.

Not difficult to see where Chelsea’s problems are. They need a top drawer striker.

Its not difficult to see for 99% of people, but seems to be an issue for the owners. They have already bought Nkunku from Leipzig but he doesn't arrive until the summer leaving them with just 21 year old Armando Broja who is injured anyway !!!

    Here it comes again!

Surely we'd make the cut for the top 80? (Although, no doubt 99% of the revenue would be earmarked for the original elite clubs).

I'm justifiably hypocritical about this: I think the clubs behind it are unsporting, money grabbing, soulless, corporations for being prepared to shaft their national leagues in a purely dosh-motivated stitch-up. However, I'd be happy to shaft our national league for a few bob.

Interesting that La Liga comment as R Madrid and Barca are still holding onto the original ESL along with Juve, no correlation between them holding out and the massive debt the three of them have.

80 clubs would effectively take up to 10 clubs from each major European league and on a reducing scale from the others. This would be much more serious a threat, but still cannot see it happening and will i'm sure end up in a court somewhere?

    That's how we got here.

I disagree DA...I think the gubmint is gonna be up the FA's ass about a firm resolution or serious regulation will ensue.

They all signed the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in 2008.  FFP helped keep the government out of their soup. This is gonna put the heat back.

This, if not handled thoroughly, and decisively will have the gubmint on em like white on rice.

I think the FA will see this as an opportunity to prove a point. Governments, hold a Hell of a lot more weight than some 'possible' super league.

The Govt has enough to fuck up let alone getting involved in this.

Goodbye Ted Lasso. Not sure why they didn't sack him sooner and give the new guy the January window. They lack a goalscorer and some quality defence. Have a few Americans in the team now so all good.

They can have Pulisic if they want him!

But, just the same as us,unless he is found guilty then he is not guilty. I don't think we want to do away with the presumption of innocence. I think he will struggle to resurrect his career though.

Yes i agree on both counts.

I wonder if this young man at Manchester United will be able to resume his career as a footballer now the CPS have dropped all charges

I would think he would want to, though just because the CPS dropped the case (a witness decided not to testify) only means the case as it stood did not reach the threshold that they were confident of securing a conviction. He hasn't been found not guilty, rather no case to answer on those specific charges.

I agree but it isn't going to happen.

Most Rangers supporters would demolish Ibrox rather than live without an idiot box.

You can still have an idiot box and not have a licence. 1.9m and growing households are now licence free, amounting to almost 6m people, not including those on pension credit.

The BBC / TV Licencing / Capita are currently trying to prosecute two 85 year old's for not paying their licence and two thirds of those taken to court are women, regardless of the cost of living crisis. The BBC are parasitic and we need millions more to stop paying. Defund the BBC have clear instructions of how to do it and what to do if you are ever approached by Capita.

I love competition it brings out the best in people so it gives me no  pleasure to see the dons and others struggle to put up a challenge in our little football world in Scotland imagine running the Derby with one thoroughbred and eleven donkeys.

I thought they did? As I always manage to pick out a donkey!

  10. Imagine the selection problem Gullitt had choosing 2 from Vialli, Hughes, Zola and Flo. I'd love either Chels or Gers having that sort of problem today!!!

Quality player, and always a gentleman.

Always remember him coming to life with Chelsea 2-0 down at Tromso in blizzard conditions and at least an inch of snow covering the pitch. He scored in the 85th minute and they scored again in 86th, 3-1 with a minute to go and Vialli waltzed past their defence and the orange ball was in the net 3-2 and he became manager a few months later and went on to lift the CWC against VfB Stuttgart in the final.

    Always liked the French top.

Their football team first impressed me at the '82 World Cup and like their Rugby back line at the time, were full of flair and well worth watching come those televised summer tournaments.

England beat them in the First group stage but France went further and went out in that memorable 3-3 thriller of a semi-final with West Germany that Schumacher thought was a boxing bout and got away with it.

Platini, Giresse, Tigana, Rocheteau (followed since our game with St.Etienne in the mid 70's), etc were some of the names.

Then at 98 you had Zidane, Hendry, Djorkaeff, Desailly, Pires, etc winning the thing.

It now lacks a Platini/Zidane like figure in the middle of the park. Griezsmann does a very decent job though and of course they have the human canonball on the left, Mbappe. They may miss Kante in the defensive midfield today and Benzema, for counter attacking at speed/precision.

Yes, France would be a different proposition today had Kante, Benzema and even Pogba been fit.

Much as I dislike saying this, if a direct causal link between heading a football and developing dementia is clearly established then it would be callous beyond measure to advocate for retaining heading in the game. Some things are far more important than football.

Any study should really start since synthetic footballs were introduced, circa 1980s anything beforehand will be skewed due to the conditions prevalent at the time.

Are we at the stage yet when we realise that Qatar is as capable of hosting a World Cup as any other?

Depends if we ignore the 6k plus deaths as collateral damage?

But yes other than that they can. If you don't mind it disrupting national leagues and most seem not to mind.

Wild goal celebrations with subs and coaches joining must stop. New rule required:

    a) Ref blows whistle for goal.

    b) The restart is twenty seconds after, ready or not, with the offside rule suspended for thirty seconds.

That should get things going again without the collapsing, cuddling, boogeying, forehead-banging, sky-finger-pointing and ground-head-bumping.

Without my proposed moderate change, how long before we get the full Thanksgiving Service on the centre circle after a goal? Or High Mass depending who scores.

More likely a call to prayer with a portable mosque complete with minarets being wheeled out. Then calls that it is blasphemous and has a fatwa announced on the makers.

Much as I detest the ayatollahs, I find myself strangely drawn to favouring Iran against virtue signalling England. How funny would it be after the Lineker lecture, the armband backdown and the knee bending if Iran walked away with the points?

I did not watch the game but was told the Iranian team didnt sing their anthem in protest at what is happening at home.

That is a real protest, England/MSM.

Nothing as virtuous as the threat of a yellow card for them. It could be imprisonment or a visitation from the revolutionary guard to family members.

Southgate and his ilk really are a bunch of preening millionaire dandies.
