  1. A lot of them do. It is not hard to look around Ceptic park and see what country they favour. Even if they do still have "feelings" for their twice-removed roots, then why continue to peddle another nationality? When they go to Europe, you won't see a Scottish flag, you'll see an Irish Republic one. I've spoke to many foreigners and they find it completely bamboozling. It is through this nonsense that the rest of the hatred follows - it is a passed down psyche of segregation - even though you have lived in this country for generations, you are still different from them because your 1/16th Irish which apparently overrides your Scottish not to mention your British heritage.
  2. So it is ok to hate your country of birth and others that are more "indigenous" because your distant relative was born somewhere else and chose to move to your current country for a better life? Why not put your energy into celebrating yourself rather than what your family used to be? When those focus too hard on history and perceived hardships, they are truly losing focus on their current situation and improving things in the time that they should be enjoying.
  3. I agree. It has morphed from a religious thing to a tribal thing which is associated with religion however is not fully dependant on it. There seems to be some weird love in with Ireland which is very strange to me. I probably have more Irish roots than most of these plastic paddies (grandmother's side were from Southern Ireland, including a Catholic priest!) but I feel absolutely no affinity with any country other than the one of my birth. It seems now that it is acceptable for open hatred of anything non-Irish / non-nationalist / pro-British / Protestant in Scotland with very little repercussion due to the government that we have let truly bed in.
  4. what an awful result, especially after the shite from earlier today. Really gutted. However, I think this season is one to build on. We really need to click up front and get more dangerous attacking movement. It seems like we are just short of brilliance however I keep thinking that then we have a poor result. We just have to dust ourselves down and continue to try harder.
  5. I know - how pathetic can you get? Is your life, city and football club so shite that all you can go on about is seriously injuring an opponents player? They won two European cups! Yet they go on about Durrant. It's pathetic and shows how dim-witted they are.
  6. Pictures now being released of vandalism to the Rangers coach in Aberdeen with references to the Ibrox disaster and Ian Durrant. Yet another incident in a very short period of time. Is the hate taking a step up or is it just now more publicised with social media?
  7. Maybe it was just me as I was dazzled with the other attaching options at the time. Even now I feel that he is a bit forgotten about. Again, maybe just me.
  8. Arthur Numan. Absolutely loved / loves the club and gave his all for us. He was also a really classy player who we took for granted at the time.
  9. I am feeling strangely optimistic that we will get a win here. Would love to put them back in their place.
  10. Never listened but out of interest, what was the reaction of the other pundits to him getting stuck into their colleague?
  11. The guy is purely trying to pay off his bankruptcy by renting his soul as a rent-a-controversial-quote.
  12. I don't see any apology on their website.
  13. Good! Although is there any real value in that? Once someone has read the original article, they aren't then going to read it again and see the retraction. These things should have their own individual article of nothing but the retraction if it is going to be deemed in any way fair.
  14. So the Herald have offered a retraction. Will the Evening Times follow suit?
  15. Did the Evening Times not print this too? Will there be an apology from them?
  16. The vital point that is now being redacted from history.
  17. In all seriousness - what the fuck is going on? Have all these journalists and papers really upped the game or have I just been a bit blind to it all these years?
  18. http://m.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/14754339.amp/ RANGERS should reach an arrangement with controversial player Joey Barton to avoid messy and embarrassing legal action, according to a solicitor at one of Scotland’s leading employment law firms. Michael Briggs, of Thompsons Solicitors, said any pay-off could come close to matching Barton’s notice period if Rangers directors wanted to avoid damaging tribunals or a public court hearing. But Mr Briggs said that, while the club would, in such circumstances, expect the player to sign a confidentiality agreement were his contract to be terminated, the former England star’s personality cast doubt on the value of such a clause. The comments come as it emerged Barton had been suspended by the club for a further three weeks on top of the seven-day sanction previously handed out following a training-ground bust-up. The Scottish Football Association is also investigating allegations he gambled on matches amid reports suggesting he placed money on the outcome of a Celtic match. SFA rules prohibit players, coaches, referees and club officials in Scotland from betting on all football. Mr Briggs explained: “Under the law of contract, either party is entitled to cancel the contract subject to any provisions requiring the terminating party either need to give notice of termination or to make a payment in lieu of that period. “This will almost certainly be the case in a high-profile professional footballer’s contract. If the club want to terminate Joey Barton’s contract, the only way they can avoid paying the notice is where the termination has been in response to a repudiatory breach of contract committed by the player. “I do not think you can point to what has gone on in the training ground as having been sufficient to justify summary termination of the player’s contract. “If [the extra three weeks is punitive], then the club will need to find something else on him to justify summary termination, which makes today’s betting revelations all the more curious.” He added: “I’d say the most likely outcome would be for some kind of agreement where Joey walks for a certain amount. There is enough risk to both parties and to the club to cause added embarrassment that you’d think the club would come to some sort of agreement that falls short of the notice period.” The most interesting thing about the article appears to be the recent modification of it with the following section removed: "If he could successfully establish that the reason for this less favourable treatment was his Roman Catholicism, he will have a claim for direct religious discrimination. That might not be a good or indeed winnable argument but the threat of it (and of it causing sufficient embarrassment to the club) could secure a bigger pay-off. Who actually sanctions these articles to be released? So basically a lawyer is giving advice to a non-client (drumming up business?) that if he makes questionable, maybe not necessarily true claims, his case might be deemed more favourable. Surely what he is suggesting is illegal? Also, why the hell is the press giving this gutter journalism print? When has his religion ever come into it? Rangers employ loads of Catholics and have done for years. It is just another attempt to blacken the club's name no doubt. The whole campaign is definitely stepped up a gear since our return to the top.
  19. So Lawwell is happy to discuss this but not the sectarianism at Celtic Park as apparently that is "tit-for-tat". Fucking hypocrite.
  20. I am of the firm beleif that no adult man should wear a replica kit unless they are a) playing football or b) going to the match. Even then, I wouldn't wear one to the match. There are always loads of them with their Celtic tips on, absolutely no shame. There was a guy in the gym the other day with the full kit on (Celtic obviously), shorts, socks, the lot. Even seen a guy walking down the street with his wee boy, who was dressed normally, and the dad had a manky Celtic top on. I would love to know the psychology behind it.
  21. How is Sutton, in any capacity, able to comment on another manager's performance when his own was seriously lacking?
  22. Shame. Always liked Rae, especially so after meeting him after hearing him speak at the Louden. He was a genuine guy and you can tell he really cares about the Gers.
  23. How Rooney still gets a game is beyond me. He is absolutely shite. When you compare him to others his age, he is unbelievable terrible in that his regression is unprecedented. Look at Scholes, he was a very attacking player and due to his physical condition only really had to start getting moved back to a deeper midfield position until well into his thirties. Rooney was getting moved back before he was 30.
  24. Yet another article that is now trying to sweep under the carpet that it was a guy wearing a sash being depicted. Sweep, sweep, sweep.
