  1. I just watched the press conference where SG walked into the briefing room at Ibrox and the press photographers all went nuts taking basically the same damn photograph for two minutes straight, basically hijacking the pc.

Is that kind of behavior normal from the Scottish press photographers or were they taking the piss? I know Rangers is a huge club and it was a big occasion but that seemed a bit excessive.

I know its a small thing in the grand scheme of what hopefully will turn out to be a great day in our history but I was wondering if anyone else was struck by that behavior in light of the way the rest of the press covers us.

  2. Rangers probably checks those list at the moment.

I dont agree with the long term thing unless its the right man, I would have no issues with an impact manager on the short term to start winning games again on a consistent basis. Winning then breeds itself to an extent.

The worst thing about now is outwith Pedros bad results we have lost silly games under Murty where had we actually take just 4-6 out of these games we would be in a title run from nowhere. This should be the season where we show we are on our way back but its not and we have to wait until August again to see.

That's what pisses me off. We have a great chance to stop them at 6 RIGHT NOW!

There doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency to anything King and this board do. Is that my imagination?

Seems like they should have had the share issue lined up and ready to go shortly after the AGM. The chances are it was going to pass this year and that would have given them some much needed funding, even with the loan paybacks.

  3. Couple of months? The turn of the year is only 23 days.:) It is 6 difficult games though including Celtic Motherwell and Hibs so they could make or break Mutry.

If he wins all 6 is there any way they can demote him?!

  4. Unfortunately, all this talk of politics is clouding the issue. The original question was around honest mistakes or something sinister. I think we had very good 'evidence' of something sinister from the ref at the Hibs game. Surely the question is then about how far does this go. Seriously, is there anyone that has another example of our team being victimised by referees? As I've said, this is the only example I have where it was obvious that there was something sinister rather than poor performance by the ref. Are there any others?

The lack of action against multiple offenses by other teams, their fans or coaches where under similar circumstances Rangers gets punished indicate to me its more of a sinister agenda than just refs 'adjusting' outcomes of our games.

Motherwell fans, Hibs semi final and the Lennon up yours gyrations are just three examples of incredibly unjust outcomes that everyone here would agree would have resulted in much more severe punishments had they been Rangers fans. Add on the Beaton beating early in the season and multiple shady refereeing jobs since and you can see a pattern.

What's the saying? Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

  5. No chance of it happening and it has been discussed in the other thread. The latest is that McInnes will be appointed later today.

Damn! Sorry, should have looked through the McInnes thread. Too much money to pry him away?

By today, you mean Thursday I'm thinking as I'm in Kentucky. You're up late! Thanks for the reply.

  6. I was excited to read about the possibility of Van Bronckhorst returning to Ibrox to manage so I thought I'd come here to see what the talk was here and there isn't a thread about it.

Is this because it's a pipe dream or for some other reason?

  7. Mutry is the smallest gamble we have. You could give him this season and it would just cost a bit higher wage. I doubt we will be buying many players in January so we could see what he does. Just to the winter pause to start with is also an option.

Well that was weird. Tried to edit my post to fix some faulty grammar and it hit the delete key two millimeters above my thumb click!

    Corrected original post below.

Do you mean a raise because he would be first team manager? It would still be a cheaper option than McInnes wouldn't it?

I've been thinking he might be the best option. I've read that other managers think highly of him and that he's incredibly intelligent. He is obviously well spoken and navigates the inevitable bait questions from press well, despite his inexperience.

If I recall, he set up well against the scum, giving us a chance at least, which is more than Pedro did. He seems to have the respect and ears of the players. His inexperience is the only negative as far as I can see.

  8. Still can't believe that "challenge"....looks at Stokes' face - it's pure anger & aggression. There is absolutely NO attempt to get the ball & actually LEADS with a right fist into Tav's head/jaw.

Unfortunately, Stokes gets away without any further punishment coz the ref "dealt" with it at the time, issuing a yellow card. Why Tav got booked, we'll never know.

That's not an inept referee, that is a referee with a clear agenda. Is there no mechanism for discipline by the league after the fact for something like this? Why didn't Rangers appeal the yellow to Tav?

  9. I had a feeling this would be the outcome. Even the SFA don't have the brass neck to uphold this after the entire shambles of last week. They will settle for robbing us of the points and Stokes not red carded for a catalogue of blatant crimes.

Holy crap, how is that not a red card?! Being in the States I haven't seen the entire game and haven't seen this until now. Beaton actually called a foul on Tav for that?! Incredible.

  10. there is no conspiracy

    referees are not against us

Again, I'm talking about mhedia and other organizations (SPFL/SFA), not necessarily refs, although Beaton's performance certainly was questionable. There seems to be selective enforcement of rules and I'm skeptical it hasn't continued in order to achieve a predicted and desired result.

  11. I don't agree.....Lennon's a moron not a calculating thoughtful person at all....He got pelters from us he gave out a come back....it's at that level. Our less thoughtful guys should be more thoughtful than Lennon. Let's hope our people are smart enough to see it like it is. scores of Hibs fans on the pitch at Hampden......saw on tv a minority of them giving it laldy at the Rangers end.....1 of them has been found guilty of assaulting our player...there might be more,

I'm not saying Lennon is part of this orchestrated effort, he's just a tool (quite literally a tool) that is useful to those that are. I agree with you that he is going to be who he is regardless. The fact that people mostly get away with crap that Rangers players and fans don't get away with is what I'm referring to. The double standard of enforcing rules against us (songs/banners ignored by scum and such) seems pretty evident. You guys would know more than me though as I'm just observing from afar and reading the reactions here.

  12. It's true - there have been a catalogue of incidents now which are trying to patience of ever Rangers fan. All of which seem excused, defended or encouraged by those that would rather criticise our club than be fair.

The best to answer them is for us to keep behaving off the park and keep winning on it. And remember those who failed us when we're successful again.

I totally agree, my point is that this seems like an orchestrated, deliberate effort to goad less thoughtful fans into a reaction. It only takes a couple for their dishonest narrative to be confirmed and continued.

All one has to do is look at the cup final: scores of Hhibs fans asking, if not begging, for a reaction results in a few Rangers fans giving them exactly what they want. And the stories are that Rangers and Hhibs fans riot on the pitch. No nuance or intellectual honestly.

  13. The best thing for everyone to do is ignore the guy. He thrives on the attention and he'll disappear from our game for good soon enough with a bit of luck.

Thing is, I'm not talking about just one incident, I'm talking about a bunch of them. Lennon, the biased referee, the cup final, kids getting bottled, etc. The disparity of punishments for similar or even wildly dissimilar incidents is mind boggling.

  14. My cynical side, after looking at all the evidence over the past few years, says to me that the powers that be are attempting to goad Rangers supporters into a reaction they need in order to confirm their narrative.

As others have already noted, at some point one or more of our fans are going to decide that enough is enough and that since the police and the league/association will not act, that he/they will.

This is my fear. It's pretty damn obvious, even from across the pond, that there is one set of rules for us and another for everyone else. No one likes us and we don't care won't work, we have to care and demand our club compile evidence and present it.

What's the point of having Robertson on the SPFL board (is that right?) if we continue to have no voice?

  15. I've spent a considerable part of my life in the US, owned businesses there and still have many relatives across the country. We all have opinions but what you're trying to say is such cliché'd nonsense it would've been better kept to yourself.

Disagree. We can all have different opinions as you say but I've been here since '74 and owned my own business also. Maybe it's the state I've spent most of my time in or maybe I didn't verbalize my opinion well enough. What I've experienced is that most Americans are patriotic to a fault; never seeing anything their country does as even being allowed to be questioned even when it's obvious that the actions are faulty.

Again, maybe it's the people who talk the loudest and the people in power at the moment but there is a thick line of hypocrisy here. They claim to be the bastion of democracy and freedom but its quickly turning into something very different. A bit of humility is always good.

  16. Classic example of the Dunning Kruger effect, too stupid to grasp it's own stupidity. Example.

Well i'm thinking if I were one of their fans I would 'deduct' this semi literate embarrassment from the equation since I could rapidly 'deduce' it was indeed a classic example of the Dunning Kruger effect and unfit for purpose.

From our perspective though let's hope they keep him and his pixx poor attempts at literacy. A head full of shxt masquerading as grey matter.

Holy crap, you just described most Americans as so affectively demonstrated by the idiot they elected president. They have this built in core belief that they are better than everyone else yet they are ignorant about so much!
