  1. I don’t think there will be another  total lockdown. There could be some restrictions come back and football crowds could be the first to suffer this so this is how it could affect the Rangers fan.

The proposal to introduce vaccine passes is all about increasing the vaccine take up. If you are double vaccinated, you can still get COVID, albeit less severely, and you can still pass it on. If you are not vaccinated, the risk of getting it is greater and you could suffer more from it’s effects. The benefits to the unvaccinated in being vaccinated is therefore obvious and that’s why the Government has encouraged people to be vaccinated. The benefits of this vaccine pass policy to the vaccinated is less clear. It may reduce the risk to them getting it slightly, but so would other measures, like distancing in indoor venues and face coverings, and these are not being extended.

There will always be a proportion of people who will not be vaccinated, so what is the proportion double vaccinated that is required to say the policy has been successful and therefore can be ended? 95%? 99%?. I understand why the Government would not give this figure as it undermines their stance that everyone should be vaccinated but I hope within the confines of government that they have a target.

I’m sure that if everyone set their mind to it, a workable way of checking the passes could be found, but not in the short term.  As we being told that the policy is constantly under review, suggesting that this is only for the short term , no one is going to invest in some detailed solution as it may be called off soon.

This policy targets the young, as they are not doing as they are told. Those of us who are not so young are caught up in it and could be embroiled in the chaos of it’s implementation.

    3. The Guardian circulation is now less than 100k even with bulk Union sales, so probably only 80k readers in UK.

Quality not quantity as SG has been known to say.

  3. There were no outstanding performances over the 90+ minutes. There were a few decent performnaces. I thought Itten tried and held the ball well. Kent was decent at times and Wright was OK. But in terms of moments to remember, it has to be Davis.

  4. I thought we started slowly and came into the game in the first half. I was thinking at half time that Malmo did not threaten us and we would go on to win. Then the moments of madness and we looked that we might lose even more. But we came back into it - whether us being better or Malmo defending what they had, I don't know.

Our goal sets up the 2nd leg nicely. If we said beforehand that if we win at home we go through, we'd have been content. I think we will win at home. I hope we win by more than 1 goal. I don't think I could bear penalties.

  5. I was getting a bit concerned watching the friendlies. I know it's all about game time but there seemed a lack of cohesion and lack of goal chances.

However, after the Real Madrid game my nerves are settled. SG and his team seem to have paced things perfectly. The play against Real Madrid was great to watch. Attacking with pace. Nice passes. Little flicks. Lundstram skinning Marcelo. Sakala's smile.

Looking forward to the season ahead.

Didn't have the sound on for a lot of Sweden game as I was p****d off hearing about England nearly every second sentence.

Yes that was pretty annoying. I know the game was not a great watch but the commentator should really concentrate on what is happening on the pitch. I thought Martin Keown was reluctant to join in with the commentator's England talk.

On commentators, I prefer the ITV coverage to the BBC. I dont know about the studio talk as I don't tend to watch that but I like Clive Tyldesley, even if he goes off at tangents some time. The stand out has to be Emma Hayes for her tactical analysis during games, something you rarely hear from the co-commentator. It's usually left up to the studio panel to say what has been happening. She tells you what is happening as it happens.
