  1. I found those comments bizarre as well. Good advert for rugby league fans who may have a passing interest in football. Also the state broadcaster which continuously and deliberately undermines the biggest club which has bought interest, excitement and an improved standard of player to Scotland talking with authority about ‘adverts for Scottish football’ is a joke. They spend our money covering games abroad when they refuse to cover 50,000 Europa League sell outs a mile away from their HQ. A FOI request on how much they have spent on hotels and expenses , operating costs etc on their travels around europe when they could have driven a van a mile up the road would make interesting reading. VFM and best use of public funds may be questionable.
  2. Putting money earned from the fan zone into Glasgow Life should tip the balance you would have thought. It’s amazing what these groups can do with £10-20k.
  3. Reaching EL should enhance the experience of players and transfer values. If Morelos scores a few EL goals he becomes a £15m player. International call ups more likely for the Croats, Scots and Morelos. It also gives us higher profile across Europe especially considering where we have been. Improves advertising appeal and makes us more attractive for higher quality loans and purchases. It’s a no brainer for me. If we do EL and get a trophy it’s a big step up from where we have been and would set our stall out for 55.
  4. We were by far the better team in the first half and we had chances to kill the game in th second. We lost 3 goals through defensive error and 2 of those were Tav. Taking Barisic off was a mistake in the face of up and under tactics. We lost control of the midfield and didn’t create opportunities to hold the ball higher up as the game wore on. A few mistakes made but one good thing is we matched them physically apart from the last few minutes and we still have better quality than last year. Really miss Coulibally. Hopefully we will see another signing middle to front and CH. Tav has made too many mistakes for me. Switch Flanagan and put Wallace and Barisic on left. Tav middle right or sell.
  5. No. Don’t be ridiculous. Celtic have the best fans in the world who believe in respect for all traditions, that is when they are not glorifying the perpetrators of the murder of children of places like omagh and Warrington in their songs, hanging Protestant effigies and singing anti Protestant songs, declaring on banners that Hun scum should know their place, brandishing banners encouraging the killing of all Huns etc. FARE principles are not intended for clubs like Celtic except to give them further reason to feel victimised and to perpetuate the myths around their origins and to demonise and weaken their biggest rivals.
  6. FOI is not applicable to FARE. FARE are subsidised by UEFA. They are nothing to do with UK govt or public authorities. Reading the link below would suggest that it is wide open in terms of abuse by match observers and given there are strict guidelines on who can be an observer it is absurd that there is no transparency between UEFA, FARE and the clubs they observe in terms of at least the clubs being able to know about and comment on the background of their observers in the event they be charged by UEFA. It is clearly a left-wing sympathising group and as they have a political bias they should be nowhere near positions of ‘neutral observer’ status. From a neutral perspective it is quite sinister reading tbh. I’m all for stamping out extreme behaviour but the rules only seem to apply to clubs like Rangers who are a club disliked by the Celtic supporting wife of their founder and chief exec. http://farenet.org/get-involved/report-discrimination/observer-scheme-faq/
  7. Ejaria and Jack were outstanding. But you see from that game what murph brings to the team. Centre Halves excellent. This could go all all the way to pens but if we score over there it’s hard to see them getting 3. Really missing goal threat from midfield. Lots of half chances to finish them off but fannied about.
  8. So in a nutshell this mob are technically on a par with Maribor but less experienced.
  9. Looks like a clean sheet and win however narrow are vital tomorrow. They may not feel so comfortable if they have to come at us chasing goals in UFA. A 2-0 win would be excellent. A 1-0 would give us a big chance.
  10. I seem to recall reading that if the concert party or perhaps just King go above another threshold (could be 50% or something) then they are obliged to make a further offer. Could be wrong perhaps FS or some financial person can advise.
  11. Hard not to get ahead of ourselves but if we do get through with momentum then we’d be a 4th seed folk would want to avoid in the group stages.
  12. Couldn’t ask for a better prep for our opponents even if they do get visas! Could really hurt them if we turn it on Thursday!
  13. I was thinking of the gate money too jfk. Given our financial requirements I’d probably go with the bye tho as it’s guaranteed. Not sure how they can process a whole teams visas in a day without some sort of reciprocity.
  14. The share issue is needed to comply with FFP also.
  15. Does anyone know what the stadium improvement plan entails. First time I’ve been for a couple of years was the St M game and needs a good bit of work.
  16. It is almost impossible to protest on what the BBC would refer back to as editing privilege e.g. Dick Gordon bias or photographic images. . BBC Scotland gets a proportion of the national licence fee budget to spend on making their own programmes. They can do what they like with that and are relatively free in terms of production although they have to adhere to obvious standards (legal, accepting gifts etc). London will not intervene by and large with local production. They are obliged to take certain networked programmes over which they have no control and London controls that. They have to spend Scottish licence money on that networked production si there is not a lot of cash sloshing about which is why Sportsound is so amateurish and why guys like Dodds and Thompson get a gig. They are cheap because they are not very good and it is easy work for them and suits their lifestyles. What BBC Scotland can get questioned about on a wider platform in respect of local production and staff is the boycott. London would be interested in the intentional airbrushing of Rangers from coverage and the exclusion of licence payers from coverage to which they are entitled. London would also be interested in potential demonstrable bias outside of mere editing such as hospitality or gifts accepted by employees at Parkhead for example compared to accepting invites to other grounds (obvious one here would be Ibrox as they won’t set foot in the place). The most effective group to deal with this would be Club1872 but I’m not convinced they on their own would have the skill to do this in what would be a relatively sophisticated exercise with some knowledge of how the BBC worked and knowing how to find a way through it aligned with some Scottish political knowledge. There is unquestionably a deep rooted historical bias at a higher level and that is why we have the output we see today. There is also a deep rooted resentment of the EBT issue and for a good few their treatment of Rangers is their way of getting even. That can’t be proved although I can categorically confirm it is the case. It should be obvious by the output and for example the ‘new club’ issue the BBC Trust had to step in on. They are not as powerful as you think but political savvy would be required to expose it and put pressure on them with respect to the boycott. I dont think there is much we can do with regards to the bias. I hear folk say ‘don’t listen to it’ and I don’t as it makes my blood boil. But then again why shouldn’t I listen to something I am paying for and why shouldn’t that output be even handed?
  17. Today Dick couldn’t help himself when speaking to Steve Clarke to put Rangers win down to Rangers relative budget. I assume he mentioned the difference between Celtic and Partick and Hibs and Ross County. There are many positive talking points with respect to Rangers but he is emotionally unable to let his hatred go. His lack of professionalism is a joke except for the fact Rangers fans contribute to his wages and deserve even handed treatment. He is a bad example of BBC sports journalism. His bias is a disgrace.
  18. A goal for us will almost certainly take the tie beyind Maribor. I feel we need to score so it’s how to go about that whilst remaining defensively solid. Watching videos of their previous games and the first leg they are more dangerous on the break and like to cut the ball back to onrushing midfielders from wide positions. 2 sitting in front of the defence is essential for us and remaining tight on the flanks too. Morelos and Murphy really need to take their chances. Of course winning free kicks and corners is another route for us. We have good delivery and an aerial threat. If we can keep it scoreless to half time we will get more space to kill the tie in open play in the second half. Losing an early goal may be fatal but if we do I wouldn’t then sit on it as we wouldn’t hold out imo. Thus lot are the best team we have played this season especially as they rack up goals at home.
  19. There may have been Union factors in the background but I can categorically state the primary reason was due to ‘press freedom’. Sorry for ITK stuff but I really do know in this case. So you have an organisation publically funded not serving the people who pay for it because they cannot find another reporter despite their vast resources. Any sensible rational organisation would have found a way round this especially considering the clear bias from this reporter, but not BBC Scotland. It is entirely possible that CM stuck his heels in which shows that the management was weak or he is an intransigent person who does not understand that if you are going to accuse Rangers of sectarianism then you cannot avoid reporting in Celtic fans singing about the Irish terrorists who murdered innocent people. Rangers should absolutely not give in on this but perhaps need to be more open about the causes and more persistent in questioning the BBC. Or perhaps as I would prefer we go round them, develop our club our digital media and focus on winning matches. The battle with BBC Scotland is not going to reap any substantial benefits.
  20. He’s a different type of player to Jack. After Arfield we don’t have much midfield creativity. Murphy maybe but we need to support Morelas so we need a real goal scoring threat from midfield probably before we need another striker.
  21. And that is 100% the reason given. BBC did approach Rangers to try and resolve the situation but neither party could give up on what they regarded as basic principles. In Rangers case this was a perception of bias. BBC lacked the bottle to address that. We’re talking about Chris McLaughlin here not Kate Adie. He is a senior sports reporter. You get that title in organisations like the BBC if you avoid being sacked for a few years and reporting in a biased manner doesn’t hinder you from acquiring a ‘senior’ position.
  22. This isn’t just about McLaughlin however. Don’t forget the BBC did that mad men cartoon of mccoist throwing himself out of a window and edited the interview making it appear mccoist was laughing at sectarianism. They filmed our 2012 troubles with Daly and intentionally bleak backdrops of Ibrox crumbling in the wasteland. When you bundle it all up the BBC have shown themselves to be anti Rangers. There is a belief inside the BBC that we ‘got away’ with EBT offences and they resent or deny our survival. This is encouraged or has been encouraged at senior levels above Gordon and his cronies but given changes at the BBC these people (Gordon & co) are now out of control. Any moderating influence which was there has gone. RTV should be the springboard for an expanded digital operation. The physical interaction needs worked in as well whether it’s through fan zone or academies. In a global game BBC Scotland takes us nowhere in terms of increasing our fan base until they change their fundamental attitude to Rangers and they will not do that. In fact it might be better if they didn’t mention us at all rather than the deliberate attempts to undermine us. Kids don’t engage via the wireless anymore and certainly not through the pathetic offerings of BBC Scotland. Rangers need to find different ways & I haven’t seen or heard of to address the problem. We need to counteract the negativity not support the platform that is soaked in it. I think Jim T was supposed to be part of improved PR but Jurassic Park springs to mind.
  23. With the exception of a player entering the field of play (substitute/sent off player) there is nothing in the laws which stipulates a red card outwith the 4 bullet points. Whatever it is, it is not ‘a red card all day long’ . Michael Stewart isn’t as clever as he thinks.
  24. Nice one Bearger. Compulsive liars tend to forget the lies they told previously
