  1. I know what you're saying, and 2 CH's would be awesome but a Gough or Butcher type would add massive confidence to Kiernan and we can't afford a whole new defence. No idea who that is these days though...
  2. We are not that far behind this scum. Three players up the spine, quality centre half, dominating midfielder and a goal scorer. Souness bought Woods, Butcher, Wilkins and Colin West, and put McCoist on a new contract immediately. A spine is fundamental. Three good signings in the next two windows........
  3. I was a ref in my young days and the lino was in my entrance class about 12 years ago. We progressed at the same rate for a few years until I got a job working shifts and chucked reffing. No gossip about him, just a decent guy I'm afraid ?
  4. Holy shit. This is nerve wracking!!!!! I should be celebrating new year now, but I'm glued here!!! Happy New Year from Oz ?
  5. Aye, working for me now on RTV. Though I'm still watching Be In Sports. Ally in the Studio, Derek Whytes been delayed and running late so it's all Ally ? I take it it's on Sky in the UK. I've got Crocker and Walker.
  6. Cheers DB. I might check that out. I get it on Be In Sports on Foxtel here in Oz, but they broadcast the Sky or BT coverage so I often get Butcher and Sutton!!! I struggle to get a good picture on RTV onto the telly, how do you do it with this? Or do you get a live TV broadcast?
  7. Sad stuff from the SFA. Unless they have different camera angles, there's no case to answer. Surely they know that!!! Oh, by the way, how come they are so explicit about the offence, rule breached, penalty offered, dates to respond by, but they can't be sure about the exact time in the match that they alleged this has happened!!!!!! What's with the "on or around" shite? Is it to make it look like a legal document when it's actually a letter from a kangaroo court?!?!?

    Tempo

I'm sitting here watching El Classico and apart from the obvious significant difference in levels of skill between Barca and us, among many other differences, there is one clear difference that we lack.... tempo. We are pedestrian by comparison. I noticed Halliday dwelling on the ball often against St Johnstone, and he wasn't the only one. Surely with this style of play, we should be shifting it one, two touches more often than we do?
  9. A few key battles to be won. Keep Brown off the ball by holding the ball well in midfield, Dembele's shot his load already this season, and we need to mark well at set pieces to stop Sviatckenko. Rogic out is a big bonus for us, but we still need to be 100% to a man to get anything from this game. We have improved over the course of the season but still lack consistency, so if we hold our own (i.e. get a draw at least), and don't let them run riot at Ibrox, I'll be happy. A win, like my prediction in the other thread, is a bonus.
  10. The last player we got from Chelsea that was so lanky cost us a fortune!!! Boom boom ?
  11. Not sure I'm keen on that to be honest Pete. The 5pm games would be good, 6am KO, but the rest are not good. I couldn't get away with having it on in the office I don't think. That's my selfish reason. However I do agree with the times being staggered for various local reasons. Later games in hot countries are becoming more normal. Is Europa Leage the same, because that's our first aim.
  12. Agree. That's worth getting up early for!! It'll be a 6:45am game for me, I might be late into work that day though.
  13. Uber fan alert ;-) that's just mental, watching at that time in the morning, especially when it's only Accies!! I've given up the middle of the night games, I'm normally up at 6ish with a wide awake 2 year old, who is now getting used to his dad watching RTV delayed transmission. I've told the wife I'll not force him to be a Rangers fan, but if he happens to be watching with me all the time, he can support who he likes ?
  14. I'm sure MW would expect his players to try to play it out from there, and aye, he probably didny concentrate enough taking the condition of the park into account. So it looks like that was Plan A from Halliday, just not very well played. To use the cliche, he needs to do plan A better. As I said, I blame the two in the centre more. With 2 players pressing our deepest player, the least they should do is offer support or shore up the middle. They did neither. We are still looking like a team who doesn't quite have the confidence to lose a goal and not panic a wee bit, although stringing some more wins together will definitely bring about more confidence in that type of scenario.
  15. I don't blame Halliday for that blunder. He is schooled to try to play it out and but for a sticky plastic park, he would have slid it right and got it up the line. Can't say much for the central defensive lights out though.
  16. Well, the results are conclusive... Nobody gives a shit here. As far as they were concerned, i just had a tie on. Turns out I was the only bugger with a tie on in there - it was 38 degrees yesterday and tie's are mental in that heat - any half wit would know that
  17. The same one Joey Barton wore to the showdown with the SFA? Oz is sport daft and I have no problem leaving Rangers books in our canteen and waiting rooms, the meeting is important, not stuffy though so I'm confident that if it even gets noticed it will be met with a smile.
  18. I have held onto my Rangers ties from the 80's & 90's that I got with my season ticket in the Govan Rear. I must have about a dozen rangers ties gathered through the years but I've never been able to wear them to any business related things... until now. I've got a tie worthy meeting (rare for me) on Tuesday and since very few people care about the Glasgow football situation here, I am going with a modest blue and red diagonally striped number with 'Rangers FC' on the bottom. I'm sadly excited about this Give us your stories of slipping the Rangers into places where it would otherwise not be welcome...
  19. The entire handbags that happened at the end could have been avoided if the ref, or lino had caught the blatant hand ball by one of the sheep. Was it Consodine? That mistake led to Wallace getting booked, a 22 man, sorry 21 man rammy, I think Waghorn and one of them got booked and them scoring. As mistakes go, they don't blow up in a refs face as much as that one did.
  20. No relation I assume. He's a Norn Irish full international (1 cap), kicked about the lower leagues for a few seasons, and according to the Thistle website, he is a midfielder, so not a far fetched suggestion calscot! Although, as I said before, he only just caught my eye, having never seen him before, but he did look tidy on the ball. Maybe that was his best game ever Cheers...
  21. I agree Ian. I guarantee you that the great Brenda will never get it so right in one window again, we had to add quantity and got some wrong.
  22. Who was the Thistle centre half who was quite good on the ball? I noticed him a couple of times playing it out nicely and he also made some decent tackles. Just out of interest, that's all. He might be one to look out for.
