  1. I think it's a case of he's very highly rated, but has struggled to adjust to the step up to the Premiership. Could do with a boost in numbers for the squad and he does look a decent player although I've only really seen him playing for Scotland.
  2. I knew he hadn't done well and that kinda reinforces my point. There are no guarantees, even if we bring in a manager with a glowing reputation.
  3. Ah, I thought he was ok after the group stage. OK, WE'RE DOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMEED
  4. Ally does have positives - he knows the club, he knows the expectations and he's a winner. That doesn't always equate to being a great or even a good manager - does it Mr Lennon - but it's a start. As for how things go, we'll just have to wait and see. Everyone was waiting with bated breath for le Guen to take over, expecting a new 9-in-a-row era, but look where he is now (where is he, is he still at Cameroon?). There are no guarantees, but we have to give him a chance.
  5. Aye, theoretically we're gonna get hammered. Tell you what, let's just withdraw for the competition. We stood little chance against Fiorentina et al a couple of years ago and look what happened. We're well organised, we've one of the best keepers in Europe at the moment and hopefully will have a fully-fit and flying Jelavic come the next round to go with Kenny Miller still scoring. It's not quite as bleak as you may think.
  6. I would go for :kh: I thought we were actually pretty poor, but looked good on the ball and very positive. Dare I say it, he reminded me of a young Barry Ferguson:surprised:
  7. Met some Galatasaray fans a few years back in Barcelona. They are nut-jobs!
  8. I can kinda see why Miller would both want and feel justified in wanting a pay rise. It wouls be tough to argue that he hasn't improved his game and especially his goalscoring over the last three seasons. Yes, he still misses chances and is one of the most frustrating players I've seen at Ibrox, but he was signed as a second striker rather than a goalscorer and over the past 18 months he has become both. He can justifiably say that he is worth a pay rise. If I jad made those improvements in my work and my contract was coming up for renewal then I would be looking for a hike in salary, especially if there were those being paid equally or more yet contributing far less. As for the age thing, well again he can argue that what he loses in his physical prowess is made up for in experience and reading of the game, which will only improve as his career continues. And, as for the sell-on value, he can then claim that what he contributes to Rangers winning trophies and qualification for the Champions League would balance out the lack of any resale. To me this doesn't make him a mercenary at all. It's just a guy negotiating a new contract, trying to get what he feels he is worth in the current market. He then looks at the offer - or offers - he has and makes a decision based on several things - his happiness, his family, his ambitions and of course money. I think loyalty is a pretty outdated concept in football - nobody would question my loyalty to my employer if I left for another for more money or a better position or even a new and interesting experience.
  9. I'm crossing my fingers we'll get a 0-0. Normally I've optimistic, bordering on insane, but I think we'll struggle to make chances.
  10. He always did a decent enough job for Scotland, don't watch the championship but I think he gets a few goals. Injury history is a risk though. Someone to keep Webster company?
  11. Gav, were you watching it in reverse. He takes yhe ball first.
  12. Any player is only worth what the buying team is willing to pay, especially when that player isn't getting a game and is at a club desperate to cut it's wage bill. If he gets his move, I hope it goes well for him.
  13. Living in a different country didn't stop Anders Frisk from being forced into retirement by death threats from Chelsea fans. And being a top official from a top league didn't stop Howard Webb from bottling or calling decisions wrong in the sports biggest game. Referees are human and have to give decisions in seconds, it stands to reason they'll get things wrong, it makes no odds what country they are from. Rather than focusing on bringing in super-refs from whichever country they're bred in, the SFA and SPL should be looking how these guys are treated by some of their members. If they hounded Stokes, for example, fir that tackle on Super Sasa the papers would be full of stories if witch hunts and of how players are only human. Surprisingly, after despising him as a player, I was fairly impressed with Lennon the manager at the outset - he had a passion for his team, he appeared to have a vision for them which I could respect. Now, with the first little sign of pressure, the facade is gone and left is a repugnant little man without an iota of respect for anyone and not one shred of dignity. I should never have been fooled, he is after all 'Sellick-Minded'
  14. One thing I will say about this is well done Shagger for not reacting to it.
  15. I've been at work since half twelve - Stone Cold Sober Loyal!
  16. If that stat is right, then that cracks me up. Brilliant
  17. Trying to come off them, they were making me too cheery. Didn't like it! Just thought that the ref had quite a shocker to be honest.
  18. I don't think he was great. Stokes' tackle on Papac was a red, 90 seconds or 90 minutes into the game. McCulloch should never have been booked for his tackle, Samaras' a few minutes later was much worse as he got none of the ball and no card. His lunge at into the back of Naismith?? later was a booking at least, could have merited a red as there was obvious intent to get the player as the ball was nowhere near to be won. As for his dunt to McGregor's head, it wa nothing more than a tickle, however, following the shenanigans with McGregor at Aberdeen, there can be no excuse whatsoever for the SPL/SFA whoever, to look at that and take action. Lastly, the penalty. It was a blatant dive, and the referee gave it without seing the incident, he was turned the other way, it cannot be denied. However, this is where the assistant should have called to the ref to advise him to change his mind - but after the way ra Sellick have pilloried the officials at Tannadice, who in their right mind would put there flag up for that sort of controversy, especially in support of the team and manager that has virtually chased one of your colleagues out the game. Surely this should be a lesson to the managment at Porkheid - a bit of dignity and decorum goes a long way.
  19. Speaking of cup finals, who started Fleck in the Scottish cup final a couple of years back?
  20. Barry, you gotta see it, fantastic movie. The one I need to see is Fargo!

    Gazza

I honestly don't think I've ever read so much bollocks in my life as I've seen in this thread. Aye, let's just let him off with it, he's a good guy. He'll sort himself out eventually! Bollocks. He'll keep spiralling downwards, he's just out the dock on drink driving charges, left to his own devices, it's just a question of who he takes down with him. He has serious psychiatric and addiction issues and the measure of a society is who it treats those unable to care for themselves. He's not going to get the help he needs if the authorities turn a blind eye. People who are a danger to themselves or others don't tend to seek out help which is why we have the Mental Health Act.

Gazza isn't going to seek out the help he obviously needs. Maybe another arrest coupled with the right judge prescribing the right mental health care program might finally work. Turning a blind eye to it, with his history, you might as well overdose him yourself.
