  1. What's Helsinki's end when he's sold? Hope we have a big sell on clause written in.
  2. Absolutely, just hoping the club get the fee we're happy with. These things never seem to come at a good time.
  3. Is it normal for player and club to agree terms before the clubs agree a fee? Seems backwards.
  4. Missed the game as I fell asleep (was on at 2.15am here). Heard 1st half was flat but better in the 2nd. Aribo is different gravy, seems to be really coming into a game. We created good chances and it could've been more. All in all, good pre season and I think we're ready. Let's go!
  5. Damn it! Saw the headline and feared the worst. Very sad news... Rip.
  6. This is such a deep subject and I feel since our lads took the knee the other day and I've subsequently read some negative comments about them doing it, I'm starting to see it from the other perspective. There's no doubt that the UK BLM organiser has a Marxist ideology (she's said so in an interview). But then I remember the #metoo movement, a movement set up with the best of intentions but became clouded somewhat by some women flat out lying. And I think there's a parallel with BLM or any movement in that certain people or a faction within the moment will push their own agenda using the name of the movement essentially as a cover. My Gf is black and from the States, we've had a lot of discussions on the subject. Funnily enough, she tells me she's barely come across any racism in her life so she in a sense struggles to understand what is happening. The thing that irks me and probably many people is that certain people go on about "unconscious racism" or " All White people are inherently racist" and that's something I can never accept. Growing up in a small Scottish coastal town I had very few experiences with black people but the ones I did have were very positive. I've got quite a few black mates who I'm very close to and have been for years, so I don't see how I can be "inherently racist". The taking the knee at first seemed to be, at least in my interpretation, an acceptance of the wrong doings of past white people. It was something that I'd never accept because I'm responsible for myself and my daughter in how she's raised, not anyone now or especially generations ago. But I see another side that I also now understand and now support. I really admire Goldson for saying what he did. It was a bit of a moment for me personally and I've been thinking a lot about it the past few days. We have had many black players throughout the years and currently we have some. Our captain is black and although he has his moments, he's served us brilliantly. It touched me seeing our club come together in this way and I see the movement for what it should be, through our players. I don't see it in the political sense of the movement I.e the Marxist angle though as I've said, a certain faction are I believe that way inclined. What I'm trying to say is I don't look at Aribo, Goldson, Kamara, Morelos or Tav doing this and believe they're Marxists. I saw through them that they stand for the whole some part of the movement and that's what we shouldn't lose site of regardless of antifa or whoever the fuck. Bit of a mish mash, hope it made sense.
  7. Good little interview with JD.
  8. True re Bassey, still raw but there's a player in there for sure. Noticed how comfortable the keeper is playing out of the back, always a little risky if playing against a high press. He'll keep Shagger on his toes for sure.
  9. Didn't he not sign a new 5 year deal last season? Hope he gets a good club to develop at.
  10. Lots of positives in the game. Keeper looked solid, young lads getting 15mins each, and Bassey may well turn out to be a real find. Next please!
  11. Thanks. Sorry to hear you're going through something similar. Unfortunately for me I live in Australia and it's going to be hard to get out to come home. Working on it though.
  12. Spot on about the cancer screening mate. My mum has it unfortunately and she only had her first drug review in about 6 weeks just the other day. She was on a cocktail that caused her all sorts because it wasn't properly monitored or reviewed like normal.
  13. Interesting debate this... I think it should be raised with the club and debated. The whole SJW movement weeds it's way in to practically every walk of life now it seems. Who knows what the outcome will be but this will likely be a hot topic in the game in the years ahead. The BLM stuff, well I think like a lot of movements, they start out with good wholehearted intentions and then often become a pawn for a certain ideology or used for personal gain. We saw this with the whole #metoo movement. I personally wouldn't like the club to align itself with the BLM movement knowing what is known about them currently, however I don't have a problem with individual players doing what they think is correct. I think it's a good opportunity for the club to once again promote the "Everyone anyone" message. That's our message and that's what we promote. We're saying all we need to within our own message without having to get dragged into anything else.
  14. Gutted for the big man. Be interested to know exactly what happened because when the team came back to training I saw pics of Katic and noticed the size of his quads which are massive. I don't know a great deal on acl injuries but I think having really strong quads is a benefit if this type of injury occurs during an off balance type of injury (like Mols). On the other hand I Don't think it's of much use if it was a Gazza type of inpact. Perhaps if because his quads are in such great shape, it may make the lay off slightly less. ?
  15. Think we all knew we'd have the Sheep first game of the season away and that the C@#### game away would be pushed out as much as possible. Bring it on!
  16. Get it up you MA. The message is simple, buy direct from the club/Castore!
  17. Just ordered my shirt with x 2 pairs of shorts. First Gers top I've bought in 12 years. I'm going all out with this stuff this year. Can't wait for this new site to be launched!
  18. Aye mate looking that way unfortunately. Be rocking when it does get back though ?
  19. Thanks pal, how you keeping?
  20. Bill? Keep ma eyes peeled for him? Haha.
  21. I'm sure like us all we've tried dissecting wtf went wrong. I'm kind of in the camp that we have a mentality to chase purely off the evidence that when we get the upper hand we've quickly given it up. When we look at how we were before the break with most of the team in form the system was doing well. Then we all know what happened... So I think there's a couple of answers to this. We need a plan B and C when facing 2 buses but we also need 2 or 3 real quality players with influence. Men that are going to drag the ones around them though the game but can also project a calming influence which I think if you get that can spread to the crowd and ease a little of the tension. Not easy players to find granted but unless the current crop grown into it fairly quickly then we'll have to bring them in.
  22. Hey all! Just recently back on the forum and apologies if this has already been posted but just come across this podcast on my YouTube feed. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-CVgxasRm-6N_YkQPsgYig Had a quick glance and seen there's interviews with Durrant and Bougherra and a few others.
  23. Thanks pal, good to be back. Funny how things come full circle... I was watching wee CJ Novo's channel and saw Stevie from 4 lads on it and then found out that his podcast was hosted by Gersnet and it kinda clicked that I need to get back on the forum. Good to see the Gers community connected as it should be and also nice coming back here and seeing the regulars and originals are still here too.
  24. Yes pal, back after a 7 year Gersnet holiday, lol.
