  1. I think many of us have had enough of the apparent attitude problems with certain members of our squad. I'm just glad we have someone who appears to be tackling this issue. Rangers is a club that needs winners. Even if we don't win, I want to see the players with the desire to win. I must admit that I don't like to see the players enjoying themselves after a defeat, and it sends out the wrong message, as well as being a symptom of a losing mentality. That's why I was happy to see certain players told they can go, assuming the rumours are correct.

I also like his attitude towards the leaks. It is unforgivable, regardless of what any of the players disagree with. Anyone found to be leaking information should be out. There are no excuses and it doesn't matter how key that player is. There's no room for him at our club.

I'm looking forward to him bringing in his own players because I'm really looking forward to being able to assess his abilities as a manager. So far so good, but we can't really call nckude much about him until he's had a transfer window or two. I just hope the results go well enough for him to be around long enough for subsequent windows. If he brings in players with mental toughness similar to his own, I think we should be in a good position.

What rumours are these that you speak of?

Göteborg stall ready for the Scottish big club: "A boy's dream"

Izhaak Ahmed leaves Sweden, family and friends to fulfill a boyhood dream.

The 17-year-old is ready for Scottish Glasgow Rangers.

"It feels great," he told the football channel.

He wrote at the beginning of the week, flew over Sunday and tomorrow, Monday, Izhaak Ahmed makes the first training with his new club.

    He longs.

    - I am really looking forward to it. It will be cool, he says, who has fostered in the Gothenburg clubs Lärje / Angered and Angered MBIK. He has been in the last club for five years.

Now, however, he takes a big step in his career. A two and a half year contract has been signed with Scottish Glasgow Rangers. He who can play both defenders and midfielder will enter the club's U17 team.

"It's a boy's dream come true. Now it's about working 100 percent on the training and developing as much as possible, he says.

17-year-old Izhaak moves over to Scotland. Where in Sweden he leaves family and friends.

"It's clear that it's not fun, but I have all the support I can get. They have said they will visit me so that you do not feel lonely, he says.

When did Glasgow Rangers enter the picture?

    - A few months ago, but I did not let that much focus on it then. I was seriously worried when they said it was close to real.

Do you have any hope to play A-team football this season?

"I'll just keep my head cold and drive all I can. Then we'll see what the future exposes.

What have you got for the impression of the club?

"I will train the first pass tomorrow. Then I can meet the team for the first time. But Glasgow is a big club with a lot of history.

Glasgow Rangers is currently in the Scottish High Court. Up to the series-leading Celtic, the distance is 27 points.

  3. The following players from the under 20's squad have been released.

Amin Abaradan, Max Ashmore, Josh Jeffries, Jordan Gibson, Sam Jamieson and Jack Adamson.

    Under 16's released

    Lewis McGrattan and Aidan Gibb

With three under 17's games left to play there may be some 17's and 16's to join that list.

Thats seems a lot of youngsters released, maybe, its the norm, I don't know but I was always seemed to hear good things about Max Ashmore, Josh Jeffries and Jordan Gibson...

  4. Totally agree Frankie, our so called PR is a Neanderthal with a ipad. They don't know how to even switch it on, i can imagine them standing round it in a group poking it, sniffing it and licking it. Some big Alpha cave man miraculously presses the on button and they all jump back going oooooooohhhhh.

    God help us please.

I cannot help but think of this scene when reading your post.....

  5. Pedro Caixinha has laid down the law to his Rangers players after ordering bad boy Michael O’Halloran to go through a fortnight of 6am boot camps.

Record Sport can reveal the Portuguese hardliner hammered O’Halloran with a series of gruelling solo sessions on the training pitch for going AWOL when he was meant to be playing against Hearts in an Under-20s match last month.

And two of O’Halloran’s team mates, Harry Forrester and Rob Kiernan, have also been called in for early-morning sessions as Caixinha cracks the whip.

It’s understood all three players were ordered into the club’s Auchenhowie HQ before breakfast time on Sunday morning to be put through their paces at the deserted complex by fitness coach Craig Flannigan.

And that was more than an hour before the rest of Caixinha’s first-team squad reported for a pre-match breakfast ahead of their top-flight clash with Partick Thistle at Firhill.

The trio rejoined their team mates at training yesterday morning but tough disciplinarian Caixinha is believed to be sending out a clear warning to the rest of his players that he will come down hard on anyone he deems to have crossed a line between now and the end of the campaign.

Caixinha’s options were depleted further yesterday when Emerson Hyndmans returned to parent club Bournemouth for treatment on a foot injury which has prematurely ended his Ibrox loan deal.

The American midfielder tweeted a farewell message that read: “Unfortunately, I’ll be missing for the rest of the season with injury. I had an incredible time here at Rangers and I’m thankful I had the opportunity to represent such a massive club.

“Thank you to my team-mates, staff and supporters for making my short stay a memorable one.”

Record Sport can reveal veteran defender Clint Hill was told yesterday that he will not be offered a new deal for next season.

It’s also understood fellow stopper Philippe Senderos and on-loan Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral have played their last games for the club.

But Forrester, O’Halloran and Kiernan will be hoping to work their way back into contention.

Forrester has played just seven minutes of football under Caixinha, coming off the bench as a sub in the manager’s first game in charge against Hamilton on March 18.

The Englishman finally seemed to be back in the Caixinha’s plans when he was listed as a unused sub for the 5-1 derby defeat by Celtic at Ibrox 11 days ago.

But he was subsequently frozen out of the trip to Firhill when Caixinha promoted youngsters Jamie Barjonas, Serge Atakayi and Andy Dallas to the bench.

Kiernan – a regular starter until Caixinha’s appointment – has played just once under the new manager, lasting 90 minutes of his second game in charge, a 1-1 draw with Motherwell on April 1. But he has not been seen anywhere near the first team since then.

Winger O’Halloran also returned to the ranks for the visit of Celtic when he was given a seat on Caixinha’s bench but, like Forrester, he watched the entire match from the sidelines.

And, like Forrester, he was also then left out of Sunday’s threadbare squad as two late goals at Firhill secured three points and a place in next season’s Europa League qualifiers.

Am I the only one who thinks this has nothing to do with fitness etc and is just away to upset 3 players with longer contracts and push them towards the exit door?

  6. I say we should take him, and heres my reasoning....

The only clubs who'll be able to afford him / appealing enough for him are Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen and Rangers which means we wouldn't need to offer a big contract, just something that matches what the others are offering.. With that, he gets to join the most likely challengers to Celtic, the best training facilities and playing in front of 50k every other week.

    For us:

    - We would get a better standard CB than the others in the league with the exception of Celtic.

    - We need a bigger squad if we manage to have a half decent European cup run.

    - He will be paid less than Hill, Senderos and probably even Kiernan but, with the exception of Hill, is better than the other two in my opinion.

I would by no means want him as a starting CB, but I think he would provide decent cover for injuries and fatigue for very good value, but of course, thats just my opinion :slinger:

  7. Good luck to him, the money received should help this summer, although, i do hope some of it goes back to the academy.....

Also, like the part that says "further significant amounts could be due based on milestones being reached" however, with the way Chelsea run their youth system, i hope that doesn't get null and voided if they release him for free......

  8. "Rangers defender Clint Hill will be released at the end of the season as manager Pedro Caixinha's plans major changes at Ibrox.

Hill, who has made 31 appearances for the Scottish Premiership club this season, was informed by Caixinha of the decision on Tuesday morning and now intends to find a new club to extend his career.

The 38-year-old is best known for a six-year stint at QPR in which he helped the club win promotion to the Premier League and has also played for Tranmere, Oldham, Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. "

Think the only way he would have decided this would be if he had a pretty definite replacement lined up...

  9. agreed, the only thing that concerns me about Bruno Alves is he can be overly physical at times which is why he's picked up his fair share of red cards and that would concern me in a match against them...

I think somebody has had a little fun with the wikipedia page for Bruno Alves......

"A Portuguese international since 2007, Alves represented the country in two World Cups and three European Championships, winning the 2016 edition of the latter tournament. Big Bruno is set to join the world's most successful club, Glasgow Rangers. He was recently quoted as saying " I canny wait to join big Ped at ibrox and take the smile straight off that big tra**y sha**er Rodgers face next season." Smashing stuff."

  10. Scotland defender Christophe Berra is to leave Ipswich Town when his contract expires in the summer.

The club say the 32-year-old wants to return north in order to spend more time with his daughter.

Berra, who has 35 caps, moved to England in 2009 to join Wolves, then managed by Mick McCarthy, who also took him to Ipswich in 2013.

"It's a situation we have been aware of for some time," McCarthy told the Ipswich website.

Ipswich had the option to extend Berra's deal for a further 12 months, but agreed not to take it up to allow him to return closer to home.

The centre-back made 185 appearances for Ipswich, scoring 14 goals.

"He is not doing anything devious, he just wants to spend more time with his daughter and anyone with family can respect that," McCarthy added.

"Christophe has been fantastic for us. He has been one of the best defenders in the Championship over the last four years and I didn't want to lose him, but I understand fully why he wants to go back closer to home and we wish him well."

I can't see him going anywhere except Hearts, Aberdeen or Rangers.... Would you take him??

  11. good to see they have no idea what goes on at ibrox. Think 10-15 scouts have been added to the roster. Notice the piece is lacking in any sort of facts. No number of our scouts against another team etc no comparison of structure or anything remotely approaching such. Just another ill informed opinion masquerading as investigative sports journalism. Bet any money the guy who wrote this couldn't tell us the first thing about our scouting network or structure. Gets his stories from online forums me thinks.

The club should be communicating things like this better to the support mind you. Obviously our scouting network still needs work but ill informed articles lacking in any factual basis don't help anyone.

How do you know this? Its reassuring if true, but I would have thought this is something the club would have released a statement about if there were so many added...... On the flip side, I would have rather they got the DoF in first to structure this scouting department, somebody with actual knowledge of a working scouting setup

Not saying you're making it up or anything, just interested to know how you know, sad as it is, I'm quite excited to know they are actually hiring scouts... :celebrate:

  12. Yes that was mentioned also. I really cant see that other than if someone from the dark side has had a word in his ear. If he isnt playing on Sunday then send him back to Arsenal.

What was the Snelders thing?? I didnt hear about that strangely enough.

Seconded, can somebody explain that reference?

  13. By Roddy Forsyth

The ceaseless calibration of a Rangers manager’s performance is a rite of passage that – sooner rather than later, usually – is one that must be negotiated carefully by each incumbent. Pedro Caixinha’s test has arrived within five weeks of his appointment and not only because his players failed to provide a cohesive challenge to Celtic in Sunday’s William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final defeat at Hampden Park.*

Word had emerged from disenchanted sources within the club that the manager had laid down a pre-season schedule that specified a return to training on June 1, with only a nine-day break after the end of the Scottish Premiership league campaign and that his decree had not gone down well with his squad. When invited to comment, Caixinha’s response was a threat to withdraw co-operation with the media in the event of further leaks.

“You can write what you want but if the respect passes then you’re not counting on me for anything,” he said. “I have already spoken about how much holiday time the players will have“Our first competitive game is going to be June 29, we normally need five or six weeks pre-season and the season finishes on May 21 so it’s a question of maths. The players don’t need to complain because the plan has not been presented to them yet.

“If someone is doing my work I would appreciate they come and tell me how it’s going to be. At the moment, it’s unofficial and when it is official and when I want you to know it, you will know it from me.

“I am the manager and I am the one that plans the pre-season and the vacation. If I try to live my life by the stories in the newspapers – which I don’t read – then how am I going to live?”

It is, of course, entirely possible to be both sympathetic to Caixinha in respect of the scheduling difficulties imposed by the early advent of the Europa League qualifiers but also to observe the necessity of reporting that the issue has caused dissent within the dressing room. In that regard, Caixinha is nursing wrath towards the source of the leaks.

“If those things are coming from inside it is something I need to find out about and when I find out I will act,” he said. When it was put to Caixinha that he was visibly more agitated than on any of his previous appearance, he replied: “No. You are seeing someone that is clear, is frontal, is open – but everyone has his own limit.

“When I feel I am not being respected, I’m not going to respect. I’m polite, I’m educated but I’m a f***ing tough guy.”

On his preferred subject of football – and the imminence of another meeting with Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday – he admitted that his nocturnal routine had been disturbed by Sunday’s defeat. “I sleep like an angel before the match. If I lose or I draw the match, I don't sleep the day after.

“I just need one day to charge my batteries. After that, I am smiling again and*facing what comes,” he said, although his demeanour suggested otherwise.

Whatever failings were apparent in Rangers’ performance on Sunday - the most obvious of which was the Ibrox players’ inability to get sufficiently close to their opponents to disrupt Celtic’s comfortable domination - Caixinha identified the prime difficulty as an absence of drive. Asked if he intended to alter his approach for Saturday’s fixture, he said: No change of style, no change of tactic - just change the passion.

“You are not going to win and Old Firm game by tactics.*Did Celtic change their tactics? No. They played exactly the same, they played with their identity. Did we change our identity in the previous five matches? No?

“I know if they go in with that passion we will be closer to them (Celtic). That is what I am focusing on. I don't care about the day after tomorrow. I am focusing on the present.

“You know what we receive from our fans and supporters - passion. At least the one thing you should give back is the same.“I don't care about external critics. I care about what I have inside and what I believe in, because if we had won the game, even if we had played like we had played in the first half, you would say brilliant, what a fantastic second half. I analyse it my way.”

Scott Brown, the Celtic captain, declared in searing terms that Rangers were distinctly second best – “they don’t have the legs that we’ve got or the quality” *– but Caixinha did not bridle at the repetition of the condemnation.

“It’s an opinion from an opposing player who had a good game in which we allowed him to play the way he wants to play,” the manager said. “I respect all opinions.”

Brown’s successful appeal against the red card shown to him for a lunge at Ross County’s Liam Boyce means that the Hoops skipper can play against Rangers on Saturday. Caixinha needs to effect an urgent transformation of his players’ approach to the sixth meeting of these sides this season, otherwise Brown is likely to have the last word on a long and taxing week for the Ibrox boss.

Don't think the media are going to have an easy ride with Mr. PC... :giruy:

  14. Daily Record suggesting Lee Hodson will miss the game because of injury... :(

I guess that means moving Tav back and choosing one from Dodoo, Windass and Waghorn.

Thats a toughie, each with pros and cons...

Windass - Good pace but far too inconsistent so you don't know what you're going to get.

Dodoo - Good pace and seems clinical enough but not sure if he brings enough when not playing thought the middle.

Waghorn - Can't question his effort and will to win but can be so wasteful and error prone.

  15. I'd be happy enough with that team, Frankie.

And it is very strange that all is quiet regarding the DoF. Are we to move from McPartland's version of scouting and favourite agents, to Caixinha's via Pedro Mendes? I'm not sure that this will be sustainable either.

This is one of the things that has annoyed me, we should have been looking for the DoF with the same urgency as we were before the manager was appointed.. Its not in PC's remit to set up a scouting system and had this DoF been in place swiftly, this scouting system could have been at least partially set up in advance of the end of the season/opening of the transfer window... If the delay is because they can't find the right person then I can more than understand that as I would prefer the right DoF, however, it seems its just been thrown onto the 'Will deal with it later when there is time' pile.

  16. I have absolutely no sympathy for him....he knew fine well what he was doing & that it was against the rules.

As he points out, he has placed many bets over the years, with the vast majority being on other sports - so why go against the rules and place ANY bets on football.

I read the statement very much as "I broke the rules, but it's not my fault"

He's got a reputation for playing the victim card...

  17. I'm confident we're going to lose 2, maybe even 3 centre backs in the summer so this has got to be the priority for me. Senderos and Hill are out of contract and don't see them being renewed, I also don't see Kiernan being kept unless we can't find somebody else.

Midfield, we have the returning Rossiter and Kranjcar (assuming both stay fit of course) which will be like new signings.

Up top, think Kenny will be moving on, and if not, spending more time on the bench as I can't see PC not signing a CF when his team is based around high pressure.

  18. Rangers striker Joe Garner was clearly trying to get Aberdeen's Ryan Jack sent off and behaved like a three-year-old - Richmond

Both players were involved in a flare-up at Pittodrie but former whistleblower Charlie Richmond says it was just a case of 'rutting stags'.

Another week, another square-up as Aberdeen’s Ryan Jack and Rangers’ Joe Garner went head to head.

But anyone calling for the Dons stopper to be sent off would have been wrong.

A former head of refereeing described this act of aggression as the “rutting stags” and a yellow card was the correct call.

Referee Kevin Clancy handled the incident perfectly well but Garner has to have a look at himself for his reaction.

What was he trying to do? He was blatantly trying to get his opponent sent off, it was like watching the behaviour of a three-year-old child.

It took him a few seconds to think, “I’ve been hurt, I better throw myself to the ground.”

Even Rangers fans would have left Pittodrie wondering why on earth he was signed for £1.5million – all he’s done is bring controversy since he arrived.

OK, thats fine, if its only a yellow card offence, it doesn't change the fact that Jack should have been sent off. His preceeding challenge was a yellow card on its own, plus the so called 'rutting stags' is another yellow, and what do 2 yellows make.......

  19. I'm really excited to see how this team gets on tomorrow night.

The only thing that worries me, however, is that I do expect some more injuries after this game before Sunday. I don't think its any coincidence that we picked up so many injuries after having the players in and training hard everyday of the international break, also, training exercises that maybe they're not used to. I understand and fully agree with PC for doing it but this is always the risk that comes with it. Add in the plastic pitch, which 99% of professionals say is more likely to cause injury and I think we could be looking at another few enforced substitutions.

    Obviously, I hope i'm wrong ;)
