  1. Apologies in advance if something like this has been posted already... Just watched the Community Shield highlights. Can't judge too much off one game, but I can't see Chelsea repeating as champions. Just something missing. As for who will win, i'm really not sure. My favourite PL team is Tottenham, and I've liked them for now for around 9 years. White Hart Lane is one of the few non-Ibrox stadiums i've visited as a fan. That all said, though I think they will be in the hunt again, I think playing at Wembley will hurt them. Takes away some home field advantage. I think one of the Manchester teams. Between the two, I have always preferred Utd, so why not - i'll go for them. What are other people's thoughts?
  2. Like a bat signal eh! Here I am. Though i've been accused of it here, i'm not a card-carrying SNP guy. I do, however, think they are currently the best voice for Scotland - they are certainly the most committed. That said, they aren't above criticism and deserve some of it. I'm in a unique position in some ways - a Glaswegian who lived in England for a long time before being able to return. My view is most English people don't have a specific opinion about Scots/Scotland, but for those who do, it is mixed. I think the 'Scotland is a drain on the UK' is fairly widely held, even if I totally disagree with it. The dislike is certainly more strong from us, but I understand why. I don't hate England, but I don't wish to be governed by their MP's.
  3. That's your perogative of course. No pressure here. If you're interested though, I wonder what it is you think should be up for discussion. I'm sure aspects of the issue can be. As I said earlier, I can find campness irritating (though I would never care enough to ask someone to change).
  4. I don't think you should be excluded from any discussion, and I can tell you weren't trying to be hurtful. It can be a learning experience is all. None of us are perfect.
  5. Not quite sure what you mean by normal. I'm not gay myself, but the most normal thing I think is loving who your heart tells you to. One of the greatest misconceptions is that there's a choice. Why do you think someone would choose to be gay given the hassle they get for it?
  6. I think it is open to discussion, but there are some things that should be taken for granted: 1) words like homo are a slur that no-one deserves. 2) Attitudes like 'as long as they don't touch me' sounds - more than anything - really old-fashioned. Would you be happy with anyone you don't know touching you? What has sexuality got to do with it. As I say, I can tell you were trying to be fair, but some of the language (probably inadvertently) was really hurtful.
  7. I hope you don't go, Anchorman. I'm not sure if we would agree about everything, but voices like yours are crucial. I agree that those comments from pete were unacceptable, but as I said to him, it came across more like someone trying (though he failed) to say something positive. Hopefully through talking to others with a different perspective, views can evolve.
  8. I think campness is quite affected, and can be pretty irritating, yes, but so are many traits with many people. I can tell you're trying to be fair here so fair enough, but less of the 'homos', and 'I hope they don't touch me' - they're human beings.
  9. Thanks for posting - hadn't seen the highlights yet so was reluctant to comment. What I took from that was how great Windass looked! Maybe he had some bad stuff that weren't in the highlights package, but touch, pace, positioning, inventiveness - it was all there. Defense is a bit of a worry, but I think the team as a whole probably has some gelling to do which might help it a bit. I thought the 'well goal was on Foderingham. I'm no goalie coach, but he could have had that I think. Delighted for Dorrans.
  10. Absolutely. I think Ibrox should be easily accessible to any potential fan who loves the club, simple as that. I guess the issue is that someone struggling with sexuality becomes isn't as visible as someone with a disability. Not that it's any more or less significant an issue.
  11. I won't run to defend Scott Brown from anything, but we can probably be a bit more creative ;-)
  12. I think the point is that you can't pick, like you didn't pick to be whatever sexuality/identity you are. I think they maybe overdo it sometimes, but still important.
  13. I said that in the context of previous contributions here where I have been negative. My point is, I am happy to congratulate the club when they earn it. I can tell you my own feelings, and I don't grudge it at all.
  14. Getting 3 points away from home is a great start. Simple as.
  15. I'm not LGBT myself, so I can't speak to it personally, but it's fairly clear that there being no openly gay professional playing in Scotland shows a fear factor there. I don't think there's a particular problem with Rangers, but i'm glad they are doing something to be publicly inclusive.
  16. http://www.equality-network.org/football-teams-up-to-tackle-discrimination/ Credit where it's due, this is exactly the sort of thing i've longed for the club to be doing. I'd like it even better if made a bit of a deal of it at a home game, but a really good gesture.
  17. I really really really hate this. The glass stairways are iconic. If anything, dress up the back with banners. That's the roughest part of Ibrox. Still, doesn't look like a building site like the other team's
  18. Not a Motherwell fan - in fact i've not really paid much attention to them in the past, but they've been doing some nice things recently. A great moment for some young fans
  19. It's an opinion for christ sake, get a grip. Do you really think what he said is that bad? I'm not excusing it, he shouldn't have said it, but it's hardly the worst thing a Celtic player or fan has ever said. As I say, he's a tool, but don't get your knickers in a twist over it. I didn't bring it up, but seen as Bluedell did - no, it's not comparable to genuinely offensive sectarian/bigoted language. And no, i'm not saying it's just some Rangers fans who do that. Both fanbases have people who do. But sometimes it's good to look in the mirror.
  20. I don't think there's anything particularly offensive about it. It's stupid more than anything else. I have no problem with chat from Rangers fans and I do it myself. That's not the same as bigotry/sectarianism etc which happens on both sides though. Chill out and stop being so crazy defensive. It's not like I took his side.
  21. Shame, when I thought he was going to get us a win against England, I was willing to grant him an 'amnesty' from being a Celtic player (i.e. not totally hate him), but that didn't work out and saying this sort of stuff doesn't help him either. Saying that, it's chat, who cares? He's wrong, he's an idiot, that's it.
  22. The 7 isn't really a football thing, strictly. However, I always liked Kanchelskis a lot.
  23. This is very sad, but as everyone has basically said, in a big crowd of drinking excited fans, this sort of stuff will happen. Shame there are morons who only associate green one way - though I totally understand it as the colour now gies me the boke generally. Really glad and proud to see fans donating to that just giving page though. Good on all concerned with that.
  24. Believe what you like, but this is absolutely untrue. Of course Rangers fans have varied views (you have seen some of them on this very thread). It would be convenient if I wasn't a true Rangers fan, because that would allow you to ignore the issues. This is too frequently the case.
