  1. Which is why I held the opinion that C1872 should have been kept totally separate from the club itself. Nobody with connections to Rangers FC should have been allowed onto the board of C1872. It is fans money that's going into the club . Yes, invite them along to answer questions or to listen to points of view. But keep them separate.

We seem now to have a position where a Rangers employee is in control of much of the fans money. That should never have been allowed to happen.

Everyone knew about James's role with the Club yet he was voted on by the members. He said from day one that it was only for a year.

  2. All of what you say is completely futile in the event that the Board member acting unilaterally ignores any and all actions by the remainder of the Board - and the issue is augmented when that Board member is also employed by the Club itself.

You talk about Board members sticking around and improving things from the inside - when they are being ignored by a single Board member who says he has the right to veto anything and everything then you, effectively, have only one option left - which is to resign. That way you at least bring it to the attention of the membership that all is not well. You can't forget that Blair was essentially refusing to even broadcast the latest two resignations.

Craig, it took them about 2 weeks to announce the previous resignations. My understanding is that he didn't refuse fresh elections and has evidence of this.

  3. he's done it on this occasion. Perhaps this is the first time a decision has gone against him?

Whether or not I agree with the fact that L&J are being reappointed (I do) the fact that a poll should be held should be a decision taken by the directors as a whole, If the resignees didn't want them appointed then I disagree with them, but I support their democratic right to make that decision. I'm not surprised that they resigned if that is indeed the case.

D, when they were appointed they signed a declaration that all key decisions would be put to members. They did not want members to have a say in this.

  4. From FF:

"As a company limited by guarantee James Blair is the guarantor and according to the organisations memorandum and articles can make any decision he wants regardless of what the other directors want."

I don't believe this was ever disclosed to members.

In my experience James has never done that. He has been trying to facilitate the return of Laura and Joanne since three days after they resigned and before it was made public. Obstacles were constantly put in his way. He wanted to poll members as it was a key decision.

  5. Laura Fawkes and Joanne Percival re-engagement

    Dear member

We are pleased to advise that Laura Fawkes and Joanne Percival will be re-joining the Club 1872 team with immediate effect.

Their specific focus going forward will be on social media, communication/engagement with members, and the creation and management of sub-groups.

We shall be polling members later this week on Laura and Joanne’s proposed re-appointment to the Club 1872 Boards.

Laura and Joanne are completely committed to Club 1872 and to its one member, one vote ethos and would wish the members to be given the opportunity to decide on their return as Board members. It is a key decision for Club 1872 and one to be taken by its members.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.:whistling:

  6. That just sounds bitter.

I'm not bitter at all. I worked closely with Craig during the campaign to rid us of the previous regime but I have seen a different side of him since his election to Club 1872. He never showed any interest in fans buying shares before and only joined Club 1872 days before the elections. In addition, the only time he was interested in doing any work was when the cameras were around. I'll leave it at that.

  7. It's a sad characteristic of our support that we pick on, castigate and denounce those willing to put themselves forward on behalf of the support. I suppose everyone should know by now that goes with the territory, but it still come as a shock at the levels of vitriol it reaches, especially in Craig's case. It's happened before with the likes of David Edgar and recently with Chris Graham and it will happen again.

In Craig's case he became the story, Club1872 with him in it became a target too. Yes he made a mistake or mistakes, but by him resigning he has taken away the stick to beat c1872 with, namely himself. For all his mistakes this act has to be commended. I'm not making a martyr out of him, he did what had to be done for the benefit of not just for himself but for the benefit and the future of the group.

Sorry but anything Craig does is for Craig.

  8. Good, that's what I'm hoping for rbr.

If we can get agreement on house red (which is a Merlot BTW) and Buds, that would make the free starter a lot easier. After that it's not an issue whatever folk want to drink.

Fresh orange and lemonade for me please.

  9. I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, I have a lot of respect for what Craig has done, putting himself in the firing line on a number of occasions, and seemingly to his detriment given the profile that has come with it.

But on the other, the statement is pretty self-indulgent and glosses over conflict of interest issues and concerns that appear to have been raised by fellow directors.

However, it would seem to be that there is perhaps more to this than meets the eye. Based purely on the fact that given the circumstances described, there would seem to be some fairly simple things could have been done on both sides to prevent these issues escalating. Nonetheless, its regrettable that we have lost some good people from the c1872 board.

Believe me, this was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

  10. IIRC they issued minutes after the first board meeting but not on any subsequent ones.

So much for the openness promised.

Old age must be affecting your memory D. :rfcbouncy: There are summaries of all the Board meetings on the Club 1872 website apart from the last two, I believe drafts are now with the remaining Board members.

  11. Good Evening Mr Bearger

The three directors that resigned did not give the board the opportunity to discus this matter at a board meeting. The three of them took the decision themselves and left the remaining directors to deal with it

We are actively trying to arrange a members meeting and will also be discussing the resignations at a board meeting in early April

    Kind Regards

    William Cowie

    Club 1872

That is, at best, being economical with the truth.

  12. I had thought that way - and in exactly that frame of mind - until Christine posted to say otherwise on FF.

To clarify, all donations for shares (previously Buy Rangers) goes to Club 1872. Payments for RST annual membership may well go to Club 1872 once the RST is wound up.

  13. Thank you so much guys. I've had a fantastic day although my bus pass hasn't come through yet (in answer to a previous question). Great commitment and performance from the team, journey back to Coatbridge and then back in for a fantastic meal at the Argyle House restaurant. Stayed reasonably sober as I'm flying out to Lanarote in the morning for a short break. Bluebells Bar, here I come.☀️
