  1. Wee question regarding the dance part. Not attended for a few years but when I did it was at least 90% male, has the male to female balance been redressed lately? Not against any males dancing together, each to their own.

I think it's much more balanced now although there is still a male majority. The dance part is right at the end once the more formal part is over.

  2. As much as a good name may be agreeable for branding/recognition purposes, it's more important to sort out the raison d'être and make this clear to all members - existing or potential.

To an outsider there still appears to be conflict between the organisations - e.g. RF and the RST whilst I'm not convinced the Association, Assembly and Fans Board committees will stand by with a smile and a wave as their positions/groups become defunct. Are we really to believe that is the case?

With that in mind what exactly is trying to be achieved here? Is it a genuine amalgamation of all existing groups into one cohesive unit or is it just another umbrella - i.e. a new Assembly/Fans Board whereby the original groups remain active and thus separate? I think the former is arguably the best strategy but some may feel we still need an independent fan group external to any club organised/controlled one. If it's the latter umbrella option then aren't you just wasting your time if we already have two similar groups which have struggled to capture the imagination of fans?

To end on a positive note, I think most fans want some sort of unified body speaking as one - whether that's formally part of the club or independent of it. However, there's still some debate as to how best this will work and exactly how far this merger will go. I've not really seen this question answered properly yet.

Finally, if it is to be one name to bind and rule us all, then I'd opt for the Rangers Supporters Association as a first choice as there's history there we could/should be looking to save. If a new name is considered more agreeable then the Rangers Supporters Union may be self-explanatory.

It can't be an umbrella group Frankie, that just wouldn't work. In addition it will be completely independent from the club although it will have a relationship with it.

  3. Could be I'm not reading this correctly, but is it the case that the new fans group will not have the object of ownership of the club or at least a substantial shareholding?

The group will be aiming for a substantial shareholding but will have other functions too.

  4. Not all members will be shareholders nor will the entire organisation necessarilly be share owning.

Actually they will as a proportion of the monthly contribution will go towards a group shareholding.

  5. Firstly, I've been an RST member for a while and contribute to BuyRangers. Not only that, but I made a sizable contribution to the Gersnet BuyRangers initiative. I've never really had any dealings with the RST, I've just paid my money and that was it. I do the same with RangersFirst. Fan ownership isn't necessarily something I'm that interested in but after recent events I felt I needed to do something and this was what I did.

Anyway, recently one of my online accounts was hacked into, this was an account linked to my bank account and this gave me considerable panic. Although I immediately alerted my bank, I still needed to get on top of this and change passwords for all my online accounts ASAP, they had personal information and still contained some bank information, even if the card was cancelled. I had to to do this on LOTS of online accounts, but generally it was an easy process; I could just log into my account and change it, or I could click a password reset link, and I would immediately get password reset instructions.

Anyway, I got to RangersFirst. I was impressed to find a decent looking interface that was intuitive to use, I navigated to the account area and quickly changed my password. Problem solved. Then I got to the RST and logged on. Here I found pretty much nothing to navigate in the member area, there was no option to change password and not even an option to send a reset link or anything. As a workaround, I decided to log out, then say I had forgotten my password. Unfortunately, no email came. So I emailed them on the 4th of January, with 'Urgent' in the subject, advising them of the situation. No response. I then tried the forgotten password link again, and this time it worked. I sent a further email on the 11th January advising them what had happened. Again, they ignored it.

What pisses me off is that they're just either completely ignoring emails or they don't even monitor them. I'm paying them for a service, they have my personal information and bank details and they have a duty to support their customer base and their privacy. This is something they need to rectify and to be honest I'm extremely tempted to cancel my association with them. They don't seem to have any problems when it comes to accepting my money.

People might think I'm being pedantic here but the hacking situation gave me a horrendous fright, though I believe I have got to the bottom of it. I found the RST's support here to be completely unacceptable.

Can you give me your name and membership number and I'll get this checked out?

  6. It'll all be academic once the Rangers fan groups are operating in perfect unison, each with their own specific areas of responsibility...[emoji6]

The idea is just to have one group. Potentially using existing mechanisms in the background but everyone will be a member of the larger group.

  7. I've asked this question here and elswhere on several occasions over the past 2 years and all one ever gets is obfuscation of the type put out by Bearman; at least plgsarmy just says she's not telling.

Perhaps if we ply her with enough drink at the dinner she'll give up this big secret

    No chance. I'm driving!!!!!

The e-mail address wasn't linked to any of us so weren't going anywhere that we know. They are now going to our secretary who I know is really swamped at the moment so I'm sorry your e-mails haven't been responded to.

  9. I joined the RST more or less right at the start. Everything went fine at first but then went steadily downhill. While appreciating that some put in many many hours of work into the organisation their website is an absolute shambles and has been the same for years now. Despite assurances that work to improve things was ongoing nothing has changed. Their communications, apart from the circulars is a disgrace. I have no doubt that is the reason for the fall in membership numbers.

We actually changed the website about a year ago and paid a lot of money for it. I agree with you though, it's crap. We were promised something that was all singing, all dancing. It's really disappointing and included an e-mail address that was going to nobody. We would do something about it but with the new fans group proposal it's probably not worth it. BTW our membership number haven't gone down.

  10. Sorry some of you are getting offended by the story but the experience she recounts is one many girls & women do face. It sucks that it is Rangers fans called in to question but groping/assault is a wider issue and I think it is wrong to assume she is a liar just because you don't like the fact it is pointed at a certain group of individuals.

That aside, newspaper advertising is still expensive but it may also include advertising on S1 jobs etc.

I've been going to games since 1971 and never been groped or assaulted in all that time. I know lots of other female supporters who are the same.

  11. Thought it was evident enough, "Strange that they don't appear to be including their ownership of The National", is pretty clear and unambiguous.

I posted the article because it was A) topical in relation to the thread and B) an example of how puerile sections in the media and Newsquest publications in particular never pass up an opportunity however tenuous to stick the boot into Rangers.

I think it's perfectly relevant as an example of what rubbish goes into one of their publications. This witch is suggesting that, as a 13 year old, she was regularly groped and assaulted by Bears.

  12. Christine, I was "counting" you and a few other "regulars" into the numbers, so you were paying whether or not you come along.

That's dreadful hopefully you're fully covered by your bank and insurance. Were the tickets first class and for anywhere nice? You must have or must have had a decent balance then

Anyway, I'll pay yours just now and you can give me cash if you want to meet tomorrow (assuming you're not slumming it in the directors box again) or on the night.

LOL, just my normal seat tomorrow but I won't be able to get cash out tomorrow as my card has been cancelled.

  13. We now have 13 tickets paid, so only 19 left to sell.

Based on expressions of interest on here and outside interest from exposure on social media; I am in no doubt that the dinner will be a complete sell out.

We will remain open for priority paid bookings from pre-existing site members and their bona fide guests up until 6.00pm this Monday night 11 January 2016.

Thereafter, we will sell any remaining tickets to new site members and others.

All sales will be "first paid first served", subect to the above criteria.

As a reminder, the previous bank details continue to apply and newbies please PM me for details.

Alan, I logged on to my internet banking to pay you only to find out that someone has managed to get my card details, had bought airline tickets, applied for loans and an overdraft and all sorts. It's likely to take up to a week to get things back to normal but I do intend coming along.
