  1. Have they though? Granted, they have backed him to 'make changes' to the squad, but we have balanced the books in the process - with total income very close to total spend. How much dosh is left? Left from what? There was zero to start with obviously. If we are living within our means, we shouldn't spend anything. However, then let's just accept 2nd best, whilst they hoover up titles, cups, trebles, guaranteed Champions League football with greater prize funds now on offer (from next season), let's meekly surrender our proud record of titles and trophy wins. They will be the most successful club in the world (domestically), it's close happening, so let's sit here and live within our means. OR....our board and investors find a way. They need to. OR, let's juts roll the dice again, you never know, we may roll a double six.
  2. I was going to say something similar. Punishing all football fans because a small minority cannot behave themselves is a cop out.
  3. You can leave the church in the village, but the congregation have gone, they've lost their faith.
  4. You're right. Unfortunately, all clubs have dregs of society within their fanbase. In this day and age, social media allows them to spout their vitriol without consequence. Best thing to do is ignore and block these morons.
  5. Bigger league, definitely. Better paid job, probably. Bigger club, no. Bigger 'job', definitely not.
  6. I doubt we have board members that would know a good manager if it bit them on the arse. Bisgrove, a glorified marketing executive that has done reasonably well bringing in some commercial revenue for us now running the club. He speaks well, but what does he know about running a football club? Same with Bennett, clearly a smart guy, loves the club, has supported the club financially, excelled in his career/industry, but is now running the club full-time with Bisgrove, between them they have no experience of running a football club. Does it matter? I would say so. On top of that, we have a coach, now rookie manager for us, running all recruitment and footballing matters, in addition to coaching, at a huge club in the absence of a DoF. I think the job is too big for all of them. Shit, did I just saw all that out loud?
  7. Our next game is in 11 days, is that enough time to complete a proper application based process with all the due diligence required and hire a new manager? The next appointment has to be right, that takes a lot more time than 11 days, wouldn't you agree?
  8. But, we shouldn't remove Beale until a proper process has been completed to find his replacement. With no DoF, I doubt we'd even have a list of candidtaes at this stage. No more temporary managers please, we know how that worked out in the past.
  9. It's inconsequential what the fans want to happen (if that's what you meant by 'people') unless they stage a massive protest outside Ibrox. I think Bennet/the Board will delay any decision on Beale for the moment, but again, if it's deemed to be correct about the Beale contract/compensation under 1yr, then I think that decision won't be far away if there isn't a 180 degree change. It's just not going to happen immediately as most fans would prefer, including myself.
  10. I maybe alone in thinking that was a penalty. Not the harshest, but not the softest either. Maeda, not only barged Cantwell but he then smashed him with his arm in the process. If you look at the line Maeda was going in, it was a barge and no attempt to get the ball. Definite penalty for me.
  11. Where did you here that? If it's true, then the Board knew they were taking a gamble on him. That also stacks up given the fact that Beale has brought in 9 players, and although that may suggest he was backed, I don't buy it. He was simply allowed to refresh the squad using incoming fees as his transfer kitty. That doesn't indicate that the Board were entirely confident in Beale. If it's true, then Beale may only have a matter of weeks to prove he's the man to take us forward. He joined 28th Nov 2022. I think he has to take 9 points from 12 in Europe (4 games between now and D-day) and full points in the league (21 from 21), IMO.
  12. I think it sets a tough precedent, when you sack a manager four league games into the season. I don't think it will work our for Michael Beale, I don't see him being a successful rangers manager, but he'll be given more time. That said, I'd like him gone.
  13. We've been Cinched. Park is to blame for this.
  14. Was it just Muir on VAR? No panel? I was keen for VAR before it was introduced, but now I'm not so sure. VAR is supposed to correct wrong decisions, in this case it wronged a right decision. If it boils down to one man's interpretation of the rules we're not any better off with VAR.
  15. Forcing myself to vote for this one. I can only give it to Rabbi for his goal (not his fault Dessers was offside) or Roofe for his goal (not his fault that Muir made a big mistake). I decided on Roofe.
  16. None actually. Lagerbielke didn't even think it was a foul - otherwise he'd have been waving his arm around like a madman.
  17. My hearts says no. However, part of me wonders if Beale should be given time. The problem is, I don't know if the results are due to Beale alone or Beale and poor recruitment. If the latter, would we be setting the next manager up for failure, knowing there's not much he can do to change the squad, other than brining in players out of contract. I think we have to see how this plays out and quickly identify an competent DoF to come in and work on a succession plan. If Beale can't make good things happen on the pitch, then I'd look at replacing him just before the Jan window.
  18. 100%, It wasn't a clear and obvious error and therfore VAR should have gotten involved in. However, I am still struggling to understand how it was a foul in any case - obvious error or not. Rousseau states that “The attacker has not played the ball at this point and puts his foot in between defender and ball." - I don't see that, he plants his foot next to the defender, and the defender falls after clipping the back of Dessers leg as he continues his run. As you can see below, Dessers does not put himself between the defender and the ball. He won the ball fairly. Listen, it is splitting opinion, even between referees, so according to the Laws of VAR, Muir should not have gotten involved as it was NOT a clear and obvious error to allow the goal.
  19. Agreed, that's where maybe Souness could have added value. Not saying he should be DoF, but an advisor to the board to help make the right football decisions, like recruitment of a DoF or manager.
  20. No, but are we saying that Hibs have higher standards than us? 3 league games in and a Euro thrashing and they sack their manager.
  21. If he's going to go, I agree. Get someone in with enough time to turn it around. But he won't go until all our goals and objectives have been shot.
  22. So isn't one goal (if you accept it was a legitimate goal) from 3 shots better than zero goals from 9 shots?
