  1. Where did you here that? If it's true, then the Board knew they were taking a gamble on him. That also stacks up given the fact that Beale has brought in 9 players, and although that may suggest he was backed, I don't buy it. He was simply allowed to refresh the squad using incoming fees as his transfer kitty. That doesn't indicate that the Board were entirely confident in Beale. If it's true, then Beale may only have a matter of weeks to prove he's the man to take us forward. He joined 28th Nov 2022. I think he has to take 9 points from 12 in Europe (4 games between now and D-day) and full points in the league (21 from 21), IMO.
  2. I think it sets a tough precedent, when you sack a manager four league games into the season. I don't think it will work our for Michael Beale, I don't see him being a successful rangers manager, but he'll be given more time. That said, I'd like him gone.
  3. We've been Cinched. Park is to blame for this.
  4. Was it just Muir on VAR? No panel? I was keen for VAR before it was introduced, but now I'm not so sure. VAR is supposed to correct wrong decisions, in this case it wronged a right decision. If it boils down to one man's interpretation of the rules we're not any better off with VAR.
  5. Forcing myself to vote for this one. I can only give it to Rabbi for his goal (not his fault Dessers was offside) or Roofe for his goal (not his fault that Muir made a big mistake). I decided on Roofe.
  6. None actually. Lagerbielke didn't even think it was a foul - otherwise he'd have been waving his arm around like a madman.
  7. My hearts says no. However, part of me wonders if Beale should be given time. The problem is, I don't know if the results are due to Beale alone or Beale and poor recruitment. If the latter, would we be setting the next manager up for failure, knowing there's not much he can do to change the squad, other than brining in players out of contract. I think we have to see how this plays out and quickly identify an competent DoF to come in and work on a succession plan. If Beale can't make good things happen on the pitch, then I'd look at replacing him just before the Jan window.
  8. 100%, It wasn't a clear and obvious error and therfore VAR should have gotten involved in. However, I am still struggling to understand how it was a foul in any case - obvious error or not. Rousseau states that “The attacker has not played the ball at this point and puts his foot in between defender and ball." - I don't see that, he plants his foot next to the defender, and the defender falls after clipping the back of Dessers leg as he continues his run. As you can see below, Dessers does not put himself between the defender and the ball. He won the ball fairly. Listen, it is splitting opinion, even between referees, so according to the Laws of VAR, Muir should not have gotten involved as it was NOT a clear and obvious error to allow the goal.
  9. Agreed, that's where maybe Souness could have added value. Not saying he should be DoF, but an advisor to the board to help make the right football decisions, like recruitment of a DoF or manager.
  10. No, but are we saying that Hibs have higher standards than us? 3 league games in and a Euro thrashing and they sack their manager.
  11. If he's going to go, I agree. Get someone in with enough time to turn it around. But he won't go until all our goals and objectives have been shot.
  12. So isn't one goal (if you accept it was a legitimate goal) from 3 shots better than zero goals from 9 shots?
  13. I wouldn't but at least McInnes would have some sort of plan for shape and tactics.
  14. I wonder what Beale will say Post Match. Edit. Actually I don't and couldn't care less.
  15. Don't agree. Not Roofe's fault he was denied a legitimate goal. How many did the Danilo/Lammers/Sima triage score?
  16. Progress then, eh. Lost 4-0 last time, only 1-0 today. Ref denied us. Reality is we have improved 300%. It's only match day 4, 32 games to go. We should all calm down.
  17. If they could shoot or score, apparently they wouldn't be at Rangers.
  18. Beale has all his new toys in his pram now.
  19. Don't need an ex-Ref to tell us if that was a foul. Clearly wasn't. Shocking
  20. Should have been 1-1, robbed by Robertson and Muir. We are still in this game. It wasn't the worst first half from us, but I fear that's the best they can do.
  21. Sign of intent from Beale. 3 debutants, only, which means more experience in terms of this fixture. The only concern for me is Sterling at LB, but we do have Ridvan on the bench if he looks out of depth. The call on Matondo and Roofe was what most of us wanted and is less of a risk in my view than the alternative, again given my first point and the fact that Lammers/Sima/Danilo have not started great. Big opportunity for Dessers, and hope he can repay the faith Beale has in him. C'mon Rangers, don't let us down. Any win will do. Just do it.
  22. Butland is the only signing that has, thus far, improved us. In order to predict which newbies will come ‘good’ we need to define ‘good’. For example, did Kent make it ‘good’? Was exciting to watch at his peak, could turn a player inside out, put the fear into them, but most of the time ferreted down a dead end or beat himself, and his numbers suggested he didn’t make it to ‘greatness’. If Kent was just good, then I think most of the attackers should be capable of good, but not great. Cifuentes will hold down a place and I have high hopes he will settle and do well. Sima and Dowell -more squad caliber for me. Sterling will not make it with us, Balogun is purely back up for this season. Lammers has something there but maybe not aggressive enough for us. If Roofe can stay fit, one of Danilo or Dessers will spend much time on the bench, I haven’t seen enough yet to know which. Neither will be as good as Morelos in his pomp. Overall, other than Butland, the signings are not impressing me and I don’t think we’ve found any rough diamonds with that lot. Gone backwards IMO. Beale will be accountable and will be gone by the end of the season. That’s my honest opinion/prediction on what I’ve felt so far, but I hope I’m very wrong.
  23. Swap Lawrence with Rabbi, I’d go with that.
