  1. Looks like real cash will be made available. Think it works out around £6m which will be used for general running costs.

Add to that extra European monies & hopefully a retail deal I am hopeful that the next set of accounts will look a lot better this time with us relying less on loans.

  2. Tavernier is captain, for that reason I believe he will start. His delivery into the box and goal scoring threat are a weapon we should use to our advantage.

Flanagan will still have a role in certain matches though.

  3. Big Derek is just being silly here. 10 years ago we had just came off the back of our best season in a long, long time.

Fair enough the start of the 08/09 season we lost to Kaunus but we did go on to win 3 league championships in a row after that, then we know what happened.

We certainly have the best squad we have had since post-admin, but that wouldn't be difficult.

I would have expected him to play the strongest team both today and on Friday. This isn't a normal pre season with a Euro tie up and coming. Hope we are not underestimating the opposition

All the players will have x amount of minutes they will require to play as part of their pre-season. I expect Bury will be much of the same to be honest.

Yes, but just for the one off value.............

I think it would be a massive GIRUY to them, they won't be able to handle us being back on top and that would just kill them off.

  6. After last night it seems to be as close as it can be without actually being signed.

Along with the rumoured investment, it is hopefully better times ahead.

Just a wee off point - What has happened to McGregor & Arfield? That has went quiet?

You can certainly judge his managerial and leadership qualities but I don't think it's either productive or constructive to lay the blame for another failed season on someone who never actually sought the job. As for hurling abuse at Murty, that's contemptible.

    I actually agree slightly.

After the McInnes fiasco he was given the job until the end of the season to buy the board time. If we fail to finish second we can all agree that the gamble by the board has failed, however, I would much rather they took these 6 months to identify the right man to lead us through the next three years than just rush and appoint someone to make some vocal fans happy.

It is a massive risk by the board, I feel Murty has been hung out to dry slightly after the Scottish Cup semi, and again after Sunday but I am sure in 10 years he will look back and say it was a massive learning curve for him as a coach.

  8. It is a worrying trend.

I remember the same tactic used after the Scottish Cup defeat to Hibs. Never heard a word until the pre-season began and just acted like we had forgot all about losing a cup final despite winning with 10 minutes to go!

Personally I think the riot that day helped the board deflect from the match and result! 2 years on and we still haven't recovered IMO.

In my opinion that's unreasonable.  We can't control what Celtic do.  Their team should beat our team each time we play at the moment  so there's no way we can demand a cup win, or win over them.  We had that win when MW was in charge but it meant, and means very little.  Progress in our team is all that matters.

Just my opinion mate. I think we need to beat them. We need to brake this run if we are gonna move forward.

Same for a cup, not saying we have to beat them en roue to a final but they ain’t gonna keep winning trebles.

That is not going to happen. it will be Murty to the end of the season. Murty does not want to be seen as a quitter and Rangers will let him see out his contract. unfortunately everyone knows our weak point is down the middle and keep playing on it. Murty is determined not to learn from his mistakes it would seem. easier to keep hitting your head against a brick wall.:brick:

My gut feeling is you are right...

BUT, we are risking Europe now and I read somewhere the difference between 2nd and 4th is £500k in prize money.

If Gerrard is the new manager he should be on the phone this morning telling the board he is coming in now because we could quite easily make an arse of this, finish 4th and have to rely on Celtic doing a double treble to give us Europe next year. That is unthinkable.

I might be asking for the impossible but we need to forget about Celtic, at least for the next 12 months.

We need to invest in the right people and start to build something that hasn't got immediate unreasonable expectation hanging over it and battering them every few weeks.

Chasing losses at the bookies tends to end badly and that is what we have been doing. My first impression of a potential Gerrard appointment is that it is more of the same.

    .

Hopefully now the merchandise deal is sorted that is the last of the dodgy deals fixed and now the board can focus on the field now.

For me next season is their last chance to get it right.

  12. I would say on the pitch anyway that we have wasted two seasons. Infact from the moment we beat Celtic in that semi final we have slowely but surely got worse depsite bringing in a better quality of player.

Main problem for me is we are still relying too heavily on players to perform who were basically signed to win us the Scottish Championship.

Whole squad needs ripped up and start again!
