  1. Doesn´t put PLG in a good light.........WTF !!!!! Then what about the players ? Ferguson and Co. want to earn all there thousands of pounds each week but instead of doing what your told by the boss, ie. shut up and concentrate on your stretching because the injuries at this club have been too regular.......no.....they want a laugh and a joke ,,oh and by the way we´re starting too early boss and about that afternoon session. How the feck can you defend players who aren´t interested in improving their performences and doing what they are told. A captain that leads the rebellion, that since he´s took up the armband hasn´t been too Hampden even for a semi-final, don´t talk about the title. If we the supporters, defend the players in this then we have NO ambition for our club or are plain stupid. Too many of our players are professionly paid amateurs, when a Falkirk player (Gow) seems to have a more professional attitude than the majority at Ibrox is our current predicament surprising ?
  2. When PLG was told there wasn´t enough money for Elmander and Sebo became the target. Elmander might have made a difference on the pitch. However, it seemed that PLG´s approach was destined to fail given the level of opposition he encountered trying to make the club professional. We´re a huge professional club run by amateurs. Example. The following was a quote from Gavin Rae in an article from yesterdays scotsman he acknowledged Le Guen wasn't to everyone's taste: "I didn't mind the training, to be honest. It was certainly a lot stricter. He always wanted silence, even when you were stretching. I didn't have a problem, but I think a few of the boys did." Why take stretching seriously when you can have a laugh and a joke. Rangers have suffered more than there fair share of injuries over the years, not taking stretching seriously directly contributes to this. http://sport.scotsman.com/topics.cfm...3&id=612672007

    A New Low

That is a disgrace. So much for freedom of speech and civil liberties. It makes me more angry than our team and thats saying something. Rangers have someone in charge who seems hellbent on emptying Ibrox and doing Tim´s work for him.
  4. Bobby Russell....v PSV (A) European Cup, 2nd round, 2nd leg, 1978. winner in a 2-3 victory. First time PSV had been beaten at home in more than 20 years of european competition. Similar in a way to Coisty´s at Elland Road. ie 2nd rd. 2nd leg, secured tie, classy counter attack,...Tommy McLeans superbly weighted pass releasing a composed BR
  5. Agree with the fact he´s a strong, intelligent and dependable defender and it´s good business to get him for the season. However, not so sure he´s a "winner". How many winners medals does he have? Weir good business but giving Ugo 18 months wan´t so bright. The 2 of them together are too slow and Ugo´s wages will be heavy for the bench.
  6. don´t think we´ve even been to a semi since the DC final
  7. Now the SC exit was PLG´s fault !!!!! Does that mean Eck gets the blame for bad results this season  If your saying the upheavel effected the team, look to who started it, one Barry Ferguson "Is that you Peter/Iain, got a great story for you if you can conduct a campaign against you know who". The same man who got the story about the captaincy in the sunday rags the day of the OF match. The same man who had a laugh and a joke with the celtic manager on the Ibrox pitch after the OF game, sending out a message or what. The same man (captain ?) who took the players (professionals ?) to Newcastle for night out and went against "no drinking instruction" from club. If you want a true transition period and change of footballing culture you have to be prepared for a little pain, it´s unreasonable to expect immediate success. However the pain seemed to come from the fact that many players didn´t want to do it PLG´s way, hence lack of unity or team spirit in those games against the wee teams. Rangers under Eck were in transition every season but you knew it was always just patching things up, not really going forward. Walter can get the experienced boys in, same old tried an trusted methods but we will not go anywhere as a club, the youngsters will be very lucky if they get a chance and our budget means that quality will be in short supply. We MAY win the spl in a couple of years but I reckon we´d have won it next season with PLG. Only my opinion. With Walter we can FORGET europe, are you happy with that ? Even Eck was better in europe than WS I´ll be surprised if we get through CL qualifiers, if we get a half decent team we are on shaky ground. Walter´s previous in the CL -qualifier OUT, Sparta -Gp. Stage, 2 wins and 4 draws (qualifier was Polish team and Leeds, WS best european moment "british"opposition) -qualifier OUT Levski -qualifier OUT AEK -Gp. Stage 3 draws and 3 defeats (qualifier was against Alania) -Gp. Stage 1 win and 5 defeats (qualifier was against Anorthosis) -qualifier OUT Gothenburg Thats 3 wins in 18 games (group stage) the rest we´ll forget.
  8. European Cup Winners 2003 - 2004 Porto » 1994 - 1995 Ajax 1990 - 1991 Red Star 1987 - 1988 PSV 1986 - 1987 Porto 1985 - 1986 Steaua UEFA Cup Winners 2004 - 2005 CSKA Moskva 2002 - 2003 Porto 2001 - 2002 Feyenoord 1999 - 2000 Galatasaray 1991 - 1992 Ajax 1986 - 1987 Göteborg 1982 - 1983 Anderlecht 1981 - 1982 Göteborg Blind faith in PLG NO, more a want to give him a chance and repulsion that his main opposition to success was within Ibrox not on the pitch. 7 months !!!! Where would Manchester Utd have been if they´d sacked Alex Ferguson back in the 80´s ? For me though the worst thing was in decide on WS as his replacement. The vision to bring in someone like PLG was good, but if the individual didn´t fit it or wasn´t allowed to work then bring someone similar to continue the work and get rid of the dissenters. SDM is thinking short-term and this was shown up in January.
  9. We want to win the spl, not finish 2nd. Next season we may or may not win it with WS, if they spend wisely then they´ll be favourites. We may have won it with PLG also, that we´ll never know. What I was getting at was we can win the spl but under WS we´ll do NOTHING in europe. Under PLG we would have had a chance to do something in europe. After PLG we could have looked elsewhere and not to WS who is the past and left the club because he said he couldn´t take it any further.
  10. If you say so mate There are many who don´t share your views either. But hey, lets stay with the tried and tested Scottish method, that in my 34 years being a football supporter has yielded one ECWC fo Aberdeen. But as long as we win the spl The spl won´t be far off the Irish league in terms of level within a few years.
  11. The following was taken from FF (Author, Jaffa the biscuit) Le Guen inherited the worst Rangers side in 20 years, even 10 million probably wouldn't have been enough to turn around the pile of shit we had. He got rid of many duds but sadly the first few players that arrived couldn't provide the level of performance (along with the other duds around them) domestically. Le Guens opening season would have been a bad one, but lessons are learned and mistakes are made. Getting the right players, tactics, attitude, fitness levels all takes time, you cannot turn a shower of shite into "true winners" over a 7 month period, especially not with our team as bad as they were. In time that guy could have and would have turned this club around in terms of the kind of players we bring through, the attitude our team has, the quality on show.......the whole package, something new to the table. But no, he was let down by those who were supposed to show him the same respect and appreciation, (the same players that got McLeish the sack) a small section of fans wanted to follow one player (who has been a part of our shit team for a few years) over a manager who had a lot to offer. New ideas, a continental style and attitude, a complete professional...and the sort of manager who could lure young and raw talent to our side (not sign old has beens). It's probably the biggest mistake we have ever made........I honestly believe that. Le Guen has the capabilities, in time we would have turned it around and became a first class outfit...instead we hope to try now and be a bit better domestically and put up a better fight against celtic - That's some vision that. Walter, Ally, Barry Ferguson - they will all get my full support, It's Rangers first - everything else comes later, they are what we have currently and will get my full backing, but if I could have it any other way, I would have Le Guen back here and I would allow him the chance to have a fair crack of the whip. You do not get rid of a manager after 7 months, especially not at Rangers FC. Cammy And I´ll add the "pro- PLG campaign from the herald must have passed me by because I didn´t notice it. Ask yourself why we were getting the bad results ? Couldn´t have had anything to do with dressing room divide could it, BF and his little group of so-called professionals were throwing their toys out of the pram. The one big mistake of PLG´s was to spend 1.8M on Sebo. If he´d been allowed more money and had bought Elmander things could have been different but no.
  12. Fergie, no world beater....you´ve got that right. Best player ? Whether he is or not he doesn´t play for the team. You don´t play for the team then you go, it´s that simple.....any manager worth his salt would make this decision. In fact it was made in January but overuled by a mob of Barry lovers who had bought into all that "bury me in my Blackburn, no, Hamilton Accies, no Rangers top" media campaign. For me, the worst moment in 34 years of supporting Rangers....the moment I took on board that Rangers as a club have no true ambition to better themselves, and it was the baying mob, so easily influenced by the gutter press and radio that put the nail in the coffin of a vision that required time and authority. Ask yourself what Alex Ferguson would do with Fergie. He´s never hesitated to get rid of players who weren´t good for the team, whoever they were. Look at Ferguson´s record and ask yourself what is the most important an individual or the team ?
  13. Don´t hold your breath mate ! With WS in charge Lennon has about 10 years to wait !
  14. He gets more stick because of various reasons. 1. He´s Captain and should lead by example but quite simply he´s not got it in him to be captain of Rangers. He can be a tremendous player on his day but he´s still not a captain. 2. He put´s himself accross as Mr Rangers "bury me in my Rangers top" yet left to go to Blackburn. I could buy it no problem if he didn´t come out with comments like that. 3. His leading role and behaviour in the dressing room revolt over "too much training", an early start, dietry control etc. He use´s Mhedia to help him in his campaign against PLG, fighting back the tears he makes the calls that were to cause massive upheavel at our club. This has split the support and has set the club back for who knows how long. The only way to go was the disciplined, professional approach giving youngsters a chance. The alternative is back to the past but without the money which means the type of player willing to come to spl will be to top up pension, no footballing ambition (spl is that bad) etc. 4. Mr Rangers thinks of himself, then some more about himself before the club. 5. On the pitch he often does his own thing which is tactically indisciplined and the result is like Rangers playing with 10 men. Hemdani is the man to take the ball from defenders but if Ferguson goes to get it off the toes of Weir then he has a big gap in front of him. 6. His "Ma baw" style has himself at the centre of everything which can make him look good BUT sometimes at the expense of other midfielders who all they do is pass to BF. This means that the opposition can plan a match more easily and negates contribution of others, eg. Thomson. 7. In his 2 years as captain we haven´t won a trophy or even been to a semi-final of a cup competition. I could go on but I´ve got to go to work. I´m no Ferguson hater, more a Rangers lover and our club would be better off without him for many, many reasons. Please Rangers get him transferred
  15. Paint it up any way you want to, we are still cr¡p !
  16. The case is that a great deal of the population don´t see it like that. "If it´s in the papers it must be true" "No smoke without fire" As for agenda, the internet helps those that want to find out what is going on in the world however that is a small percentage of people and if it ever increased significantly, I´m sure the "powers" would start to excerise more control of the web . The BBC since the Hutton Report has been manipulated by government interests.
  17. IMHO the first leg against Osasuna was a lot worse than the away leg. Walter´s team selection/tactics didn´t give us much of a chance though. 2 slow centre halfs playing deep and Boyd on his own up front made a pedestrian midfields job impossible. That was a game for BF to at least attempt to dominate, he dissappeared. When BF plays where he is told we play better. His tactical indiscipline on the field has cost us. His petulence has also cost us. His 2 earlier bookings in the UEFA for reacting to being fouled cost the team his presence in Osasuna where we had an off the pace Gavin Rae contributing little.
  18. But with the gradual dumbing down of a nation, it fits like a glove
  19. bmck Excellent article ! Not much to add really as you´ve covered it very well.
  20. Bardsley might get a game for Scotland one day, he´ll never get a game for the English team. Just as he was never going to make it at MU.
  21. If a player has problems in one club, especially with attitude it repeats itself sooner or later in his next club. If BB has had problems I would hope we drop our interest. Phil Bardsley had problems with the Belguim club where he was on loan prior to joining Rangers and surprise, surprise what happened at Ibrox. This was a 6 month loan, so it wasn´t expensive but a signing on a 3/4 year contract would cost us if it went wrong. After our recent history if there are doubts we shouldn´t sign them.
  22. Prefer Smith´s attitude ! He can lead by example and if necessary he would encourage and shout. He doesn´t at the moment because he´s a youngster concentrating on what he´s been told to do. IMHO If told to be captain he would do the necessary. First he needs another good season under his belt without longterm injury.
  23. Should be made captain, he´s more of a leader than BF....then the following season Stevie Smith may be ready to take the armband.
  24. He wasn´t allowed to be by an opposition from within that seemed to include the club doctor. In the end I think he was ready and quite happy to go. I only wish Souness had been his number 2, that on paper at least would have been a good combination
  25. There is surely a happy medium that I appreciate is difficult to attain. If you look at Arsenal, they´re younger players have technique and they are physically imposing. In Scotland the skilfull players tend to be small and get pushed off the ball to easily. What PLG was trying to introduce ref. training, diets was geared to change this culture and is the route we should be taking.
