  1. Is your name Derek and you work down in Stranraer? You see it one way I see it another. I repeat I defy you to say that this split in the dressing room that had BF as shop steward for some of the scots HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR POOR SEASON
  2. Given the background over the preceeding weeks and months which was "difficult" to say the least (so much so that PLG offered his resignation in december). Thats to say by December it was reaching breaking point. Press row about captaincey Players party in Newcastle in which Ferguson went against instructions and let the team drink, arriving at training the next day hungover. Ferguson was being increasingly open in his disrespect with PLG and the club, so in hindsight it wasn´t a surprise if BF started to go against instructions on the pitch. The fact that PLG noticed in the video of one game isn´t important. PLG must have given him another chance probably after a BF denial and then on a repeat performance v St.Mirren BF finaly broke PLG´s patience altogether. What produced had been simmering for months and had a great deal to do with our poor season. I say the lack of fight and unity in many of the games against the wee teams was caused by dressing room split/ atmosphere. I defy you to say that this split had nothing to do with our poor season. That young foreign newcomers like Svenson and Sebo weren´t effected by not only a hostile press but a hostile captain and pals. That Papac and Letizi, older hands probably couldn´t give a toss about the jersey if this how they were to be treated. BF should presently be on the transfer list PLG was for the off anyway, he would have probably gone in the summer. It´s a damming indictment that our club, more specifically some of our players couldn´t embrace change and take the club foward. Now our numerous youngsters, such as Fleck, Campbell and Durie know the way the club is going and I hope they don´t take Ferguson as their role model, it´s difficult enough to keep them from temptation but for the drink culture to be endorsed in the senior squad can´t help much. And who would blame the likes of Fleck if as good as we hope, that he wanted to leave for Arsenal or similar where they take their football seriously.
  3. In the article it says after watching a video of ICT game it proved to him and Yves Colleau that Ferguson had played too deep, contrary to instructions. So during the game he probably wanted to think it wasn´t deliberate, think of the game as a whole hoping instructions got through to him. The St.Mirren game was BF´s last chance in PLG´s book with regard to ignoring instructions. He was then dropped for following game. Prior to this Ferguson had generally played well, in some games he was immense, this made it more difficult to drop him and probably led to being given another chance v St.Mirren. I posted a thread in FF about Ferguson in December. I posed the question, has BF´s motivation this season come from the desire to show who is the most important figure between PLG and himself ?
  4. loyalty isn´t important to many these days Hartley at Rangers Brown at sellick seems strange but money, agents and ambition come into the mix. Unfortunately Brown seems to think sellick under chesney are going places where we are going no where after last week. Could it be the first fallout we are suffering from last week ?
  5. ?????????????????????????impossible mate Wigan played their first and last FA Cup tie this season at the weekend. Webster was at Auchenhowie taking advantage of the tackling we do in training !
  6. Quashie seems to like moving in january in 2005 he moved from Portsmouth to Southampton, 2.1M in 2006 he moved from Southampton to WBA, 1.2M In both cases the team he joined were relegated !
  7. if the hibs pair go east of the city and we get the two older (30 and 29) players then I fear for the future as it shows that we are only thinking s-term where sellick are building a decent squad
  8. getting rid of eck, yes but he waited long enough. PLG in, he was on to him (Nov 2005) when the press got wind of it and the murray via the press sold us the idea. PLG out, he resigned (no compensation), but Murray to a degree went with the flow although he seemed to be ready for it (WS/AMc declared same day). WS in, He´d made up his mind prior to the new year as to whom was coming if PLG was to go. A foriegner wasn´t coming and options for "a safe pair of scottish hands" weren´t thick on the ground.
  9. he used JRod at the start but after going 2 down wanted to put a more offensive player in the middle of the park. hence Hemdami´s move back. Webster would have played but........ one question where are our youngsters? over the last few years sellick have brought through Kennedy, McManus and now O´Dea !
  10. don´t think anyone knows the answer to that just now
  11. not for much longer the natives are becoming restless if there is not considerable investment/upturn in results then D-Day could arrive end of Feb, beginning of March, this is when we play the UEFA, sellick and hibs away.
  12. He´ll give you a couple of juicy bits of info re PLG affair aslong as you agree not to tell anyone. (how accurate they are we´ll never know/ the info he gives you will suit his side to the story.) He´ll go over the appointment of WS/AMc saying the´ll be given money in summer without mentioning numbers (pie in the sky). However the most important is his plans for the future of his chairmanship and strategy for the club. He can´t be allowed to continue with his lame-duck role preparing for the off which might be next year or the following etc.
  13. to say it boiled down to homework is far too simplistic. Was he too respectful and not ruthless enough, probably. Had he demanded more money to re-build team as a condition of coming. He shouldn´t have worried about Eck´s feelings at the end of last season, it was more important to be properly aquainted with spl and he should have sorted out Ferguson and Boyd in August. He always said respect was important too him, he would give it and expect it in return.
  14. TBH 250,000 isn´t much and for the SFA it wouldn´t compensate them because a successful national team can fill Hampden where Bertie´s Scotland couldn´t other than the Saturday/big games. This would be a real blow to Scotland though. We´d probably have Tommy Burns get the job.
  15. I think it was to be expected that they´d get one of them, but if they get both it will be a psychological boost for them aswell as enhancing their squad. Full judgement would have to be reserved for 0001 hours Feb 1st but it would seem as if Hartley, a 30 year old may be our midfield signing. Webster for centre half but he´s injured Gow for up front Not looking good at the moment.
  16. cheap PR points, it´s possible but they´ll be holding out for compensation more than anything. If all sides are willing it shouldn´t hold things up for long, as soon as all sides can meet with Suntan man & SFA equivalent ready to agree a number. The main issue is if Smith will take on both jobs or not.
  17. Resignation with compensation to be paid by Rangers. I hope he doesn´t offer to do both jobs for obvious reasons, but I can see it happening
  18. Yesterdays defeat pales into insignificance compared to the week leading up to it. Last week and the events leading up to it (since pre-season training) have put us on the road to the past.
  19. being pedantic but sellick aren´t sure to get CL money next year as they´ll have to pass the 3rd qualifing round where there´s always 3 or 4 nasties waiting in the lower half of the draw
  20. Comes down to the same common denominator, SDM. If he´d been allowed 10-12M in 1st year then the following years the amount would probably lessen eg. season 2 & 3 - 4-5Million. The reason behind this could short termism on DM´s part because he´s going to sell up and didn´t want the debt increased this season. DM needed to spend or go. He´s now created a huge problem.
  21. The worst thing is the example it gives to the young players. Efforts being made to keep the likes of John Fleck on the straight and narrow are undermined by last weeks events. What kind of example was our ex-captain giving- He was passionate, shouted alot with little result, played well but ultimatelyis a poor professional. My uncle played pro-football in the 40´s and 50´s (Allan Brown) He was with East Fife, then was transferred to Blackpool (of Stanley Mathews) for 28,000. He went to the WC of 54 with Scotland. He never drank alcohol, he always told me that a professional career is short and you must take care of your body and make the most of the good luck that you had in being a footballer.
  22. If true then that cofirms the "smoke and mirrors" leak to the media via Chick Dung on the day that PLG left. ie. murray gave these names to CD so as it gave us something else to talk about but he had no serious intention to bid the money needed to secure these two. We´ll see waht happens and I stand to be corrected if SB ends up at Ibrox but I´m not holding my breath.
  23. It´s the saddest time for me in 34 years of supporting Rangers. I thought DM had acted with long-term vision in appointing PLG but erred in not giving him a 8-12M budget in his first year to re-build a poor team. The worst thing about it was that it was our own players who refused to change and for that reason we are back to the old times. WS, especially if he does the scotland job aswell doesn´t fill me with confidence, maybe short-term he can fire-fight. News this weekend that Webster was injured in training before playing a game and that we may be looking to spend over a million on a 30 year-old (Hartley) makes me feel as I´ve made a backward journey in time. depressed loyal
  24. I agree The dressing room got away from him This was a contributory factor in much of the other things that went wrong, especially games against the wee teams where fight and attitude were required.
  25. Given that the rumours first appeared in "the Sun" I wouldn´t take them as gospel ! When you think about it, far more likely that it was zilch given that PLG looks to have quit.
