  1. Is your name Derek and you work down in Stranraer?

You see it one way I see it another.

    I repeat

I defy you to say that this split in the dressing room that had BF as shop steward for some of the scots HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR POOR SEASON

  2. So he came to that conclusion after watching a video of ONE game ....

    Cammy F

Given the background over the preceeding weeks and months which was "difficult" to say the least (so much so that PLG offered his resignation in december).

Thats to say by December it was reaching breaking point.

    Press row about captaincey

Players party in Newcastle in which Ferguson went against instructions and let the team drink, arriving at training the next day hungover.

Ferguson was being increasingly open in his disrespect with PLG and the club, so in hindsight it wasn´t a surprise if BF started to go against instructions on the pitch.

The fact that PLG noticed in the video of one game isn´t important.

PLG must have given him another chance probably after a BF denial and then on a repeat performance v St.Mirren BF finaly broke PLG´s patience altogether.

What produced had been simmering for months and had a great deal to do with our poor season. I say the lack of fight and unity in many of the games against the wee teams was caused by dressing room split/ atmosphere.

I defy you to say that this split had nothing to do with our poor season.

That young foreign newcomers like Svenson and Sebo weren´t effected by not only a hostile press but a hostile captain and pals.

That Papac and Letizi, older hands probably couldn´t give a toss about the jersey if this how they were to be treated.

BF should presently be on the transfer list

PLG was for the off anyway, he would have probably gone in the summer.

It´s a damming indictment that our club, more specifically some of our players couldn´t embrace change and take the club foward.

Now our numerous youngsters, such as Fleck, Campbell and Durie know the way the club is going and I hope they don´t take Ferguson as their role model, it´s difficult enough to keep them from temptation but for the drink culture to be endorsed in the senior squad can´t help much.

And who would blame the likes of Fleck if as good as we hope, that he wanted to leave for Arsenal or similar where they take their football seriously.

  3. If and its a HUGE IF Barry Ferguson wasn't doing as he was told on the pitch, why did PLG NEVER subsitute him during any of the games he was in charge off? And IF he was undermining him, why was BF an automatic choice?

    Cammy F

In the article it says after watching a video of ICT game it proved to him and Yves Colleau that Ferguson had played too deep, contrary to instructions. So during the game he probably wanted to think it wasn´t deliberate, think of the game as a whole hoping instructions got through to him.

The St.Mirren game was BF´s last chance in PLG´s book with regard to ignoring instructions. He was then dropped for following game.

Prior to this Ferguson had generally played well, in some games he was immense, this made it more difficult to drop him and probably led to being given another chance v St.Mirren.

I posted a thread in FF about Ferguson in December.

I posed the question, has BF´s motivation this season come from the desire to show who is the most important figure between PLG and himself ?

  4. my mate works for a guy who is mates with willie mackay and scott brown is a frequent visitor to this place my mate works an apparantly when asked if he would sign for celtic his answer was "aye that'll be f****n right" he's a rangers man through and through, and although that doesn't stop some i think he'd opt for a premiership club rather than THEM.

btw anno that link at the top sounds well dodgy "a mate of a pal of a guy a know" lol but a could give the true details but a think it could land ma pal in a bit a bother wi his boss

loyalty isn´t important to many these days

    Hartley at Rangers

    Brown at sellick

seems strange but money, agents and ambition come into the mix.

Unfortunately Brown seems to think sellick under chesney are going places where we are going no where after last week.

Could it be the first fallout we are suffering from last week ?

  5. Webster played in FA Cup so couldnt play v Dunfermline even if he was fit.

    ?????????????????????????impossible mate

Wigan played their first and last FA Cup tie this season at the weekend.

Webster was at Auchenhowie taking advantage of the tackling we do in training !

  6. Evening Times seems to confirm this news and says we're more interested in Hartley and Quashie who should be available for much less than Hibs want for their pair.

    Short term on one hand.

More proven & reliable talent on the other.

    Assuming its true obviously.

if the hibs pair go east of the city and we get the two older (30 and 29) players then I fear for the future as it shows that we are only thinking s-term where sellick are building a decent squad

  7. PS I've already posted about how it looks like he listens to the fans when it comes to managers.

You have to ask who wanted rid of Eck, who wanted Le Guen, who wanted him out again, and who wants Smith and McCoist?

Is he just doing is own thing totally against fans wishes? Don't think so.

getting rid of eck, yes but he waited long enough.

PLG in, he was on to him (Nov 2005) when the press got wind of it and the murray via the press sold us the idea.

PLG out, he resigned (no compensation), but Murray to a degree went with the flow although he seemed to be ready for it (WS/AMc declared same day).

WS in, He´d made up his mind prior to the new year as to whom was coming if PLG was to go. A foriegner wasn´t coming and options for "a safe pair of scottish hands" weren´t thick on the ground.

  8. see this whole situation.... i sed to my dad yesterday i actually feel sorry for hemdani.... the guy is a decent profesional - no more than that - but never in a million years is he a centre half in the spl.... why oh why we play him there infuriates me i know were fucked at the back and i know hes probably the calmest on the ball but the guy is like 5ft4 its never gonna work playing agenst jim hamilton hesselink bednar killen lee miller brewster bayne nish all these sorta big guys...

the guy is gettin made to be a scapegoat when in reality the real scapegoats r the guys like rodriguez and papac "recognised" centre halfs who cant get into the team before hemdani.

hemdani is a defensive midfielder he slots infront of the back four... not bang in the middle of it

it shows up rodriguez if durranty noticed this when picking his team at the weekend but still had to haul of j rod and put hemdani ak there dunt it

he used JRod at the start but after going 2 down wanted to put a more offensive player in the middle of the park.

    hence Hemdami´s move back.

    Webster would have played but........

    one question

    where are our youngsters?

over the last few years sellick have brought through Kennedy, McManus and now O´Dea !

  9. what difference will it make?

David Murray can do whatever he pleases and there is nothing the support can do about it!!

He can just sit back and do SFA

    not for much longer

    the natives are becoming restless

if there is not considerable investment/upturn in results

then D-Day could arrive end of Feb, beginning of March, this is when we play the UEFA, sellick and hibs away.

Trust Calls for ‘Clarity, Direction and Leadership’ at Rangers

The Board of the Rangers Supporters’ Trust have watched with dismay at the events unfolding at Ibrox in recent weeks.

The Trust repeats its public call for clarity, direction and leadership.

    - Clarity

We are entitled to know why the Club’s former Manager and former Captain were allowed to conduct a public dispute, which led to both of them losing their positions. We are also entitled to know precisely what role everyone played in this.

    - Direction

We urgently require the appointment of a top class managerial team and the acquisition of quality professionals befitting of the team jersey. No-one is indispensable and no-one is bigger than Rangers Football Club.

    - Leadership

Most importantly, we now need a tangible, public indication that the ambitions of the Rangers support are matched by the Club’s Board and that the necessary investment and strategies to deliver on those ambitions are in place. We call on Sir David Murray to publicly address the Rangers support as a matter of urgency.

The Trust has called for an urgent meeting in the next few days with Sir David Murray which he acknowledges and has agreed to meet as soon as is practical.

He´ll give you a couple of juicy bits of info re PLG affair aslong as you agree not to tell anyone. (how accurate they are we´ll never know/ the info he gives you will suit his side to the story.)

He´ll go over the appointment of WS/AMc saying the´ll be given money in summer without mentioning numbers (pie in the sky).

However the most important is his plans for the future of his chairmanship and strategy for the club. He can´t be allowed to continue with his lame-duck role preparing for the off which might be next year or the following etc.

  11. He can put it down to lack of that and proper funding.... but we can put it down to his lack of knowledge of the league.

Didnt do his homework is what it all boils down too results/performance-wise.

to say it boiled down to homework is far too simplistic.

Was he too respectful and not ruthless enough, probably.

Had he demanded more money to re-build team as a condition of coming.

He shouldn´t have worried about Eck´s feelings at the end of last season, it was more important to be properly aquainted with spl and he should have sorted out Ferguson and Boyd in August.

He always said respect was important too him, he would give it and expect it in return.

  12. There goes Walter's transfer kitty then!

That should be enough to convince them, although they might hold out for more given his sucess with the national team.

TBH 250,000 isn´t much and for the SFA it wouldn´t compensate them because a successful national team can fill Hampden where Bertie´s Scotland couldn´t other than the Saturday/big games.

This would be a real blow to Scotland though.

We´d probably have Tommy Burns get the job.

  13. Celtic do seem to be trumping us quite a lot lately: Miller, Riordan, Pressley and now these two - and they took a risk on Hartson when we wouldn't.

    In return we've got Novo...

I think it was to be expected that they´d get one of them, but if they get both it will be a psychological boost for them aswell as enhancing their squad.

Full judgement would have to be reserved for 0001 hours Feb 1st but it would seem as if Hartley, a 30 year old may be our midfield signing.

Webster for centre half but he´s injured

    Gow for up front

Not looking good at the moment.

  14. I'm sure some arrangement will be got to, but its just frustrating that we're losing more time while the SFA are trying to score cheap PR points.

cheap PR points, it´s possible but they´ll be holding out for compensation more than anything. If all sides are willing it shouldn´t hold things up for long, as soon as all sides can meet with Suntan man & SFA equivalent ready to agree a number.

The main issue is if Smith will take on both jobs or not.

  15. I think most are agreed that the current Celtic team are nothing special, which makes the league positions an even more depressing situation for us. My worry is that Celtic are spending more than us just now while DM seems determined to remain debt free if possible. It looks like Celtic have a healthy attitude to spending to accumulate.

However, they are now guaranteed CL footy again next season, which, added to this season's revenue means that they are going to have significantly more money available for transfers and wages yet again next year. They've also made a very prudent signing in Nakamura which does help their global branding in what is a very lucrative market.

I'm starting to see the off-the-pitch gap between us and Celtic widen which I think is very worrying. They've shown that while we don't get huge amounts of TV money, it is still possible to spend decent sums on transfer fees for players. They've also shown that they're looking to strengthen their squad with Scottish players at any opportunity and I really worry that we're in danger of behind here.

DM is many things, but he's certainly not stupid. However, he has now backed 2 managers with hardly any funds when compared with Celtic. I thought the whole point of downsizing was to get to a point where you can then start spending money again but within your means? The wage budget was under control well over a year ago, but we've still seen no significant re-investment in our playing staff.

Whatever happened to the rolling £10M credit that DM said would always be available to the manager? Because looking at the current squad, that is exactly the sort of money that must be made available to Walter Smith if he has any hope of moving us forward.

being pedantic but sellick aren´t sure to get CL money next year as they´ll have to pass the 3rd qualifing round where there´s always 3 or 4 nasties waiting in the lower half of the draw

  16. If we'd spent 10-12M on 7 or 8 first team players that were better than the present squad then any dressing room problems would have his full ownership and he could drop any of the old guard he didn't like.

Comes down to the same common denominator, SDM.

If he´d been allowed 10-12M in 1st year then the following years the amount would probably lessen

    eg. season 2 & 3 - 4-5Million.

The reason behind this could short termism on DM´s part because he´s going to sell up and didn´t want the debt increased this season.

DM needed to spend or go.

He´s now created a huge problem.

  17. The worst thing is the example it gives to the young players.

Efforts being made to keep the likes of John Fleck on the straight and narrow are undermined by last weeks events.

What kind of example was our ex-captain giving- He was passionate, shouted alot with little result, played well but ultimatelyis a poor professional.

My uncle played pro-football in the 40´s and 50´s (Allan Brown)

He was with East Fife, then was transferred to Blackpool (of Stanley Mathews) for 28,000. He went to the WC of 54 with Scotland.

He never drank alcohol, he always told me that a professional career is short and you must take care of your body and make the most of the good luck that you had in being a footballer.

  18. Who will come in? Not the Hibs lads by the looks of it....

Brown: "They are two massive clubs but now if Hibs and Celtic can come to an agreement then I would prefer to join Celtic. I know of Celtic's firm interest and I think any player with ambition would be interested in being a part of what Gordon Strachan is building."

Thomson: "Being a part of what is constructed there makes Celtic the ONLY football option. That is now my preferred destination if a fee can be agreed with Hibs"

If true then that cofirms the "smoke and mirrors" leak to the media via Chick Dung on the day that PLG left.

ie. murray gave these names to CD so as it gave us something else to talk about but he had no serious intention to bid the money needed to secure these two.

We´ll see waht happens and I stand to be corrected if SB ends up at Ibrox but I´m not holding my breath.

  19. Agreed if there is unrest in the dressing room then it affects all aspects of the game. We did have weaknesses on the field but we saw when we did fight together we really were'nt that bad a team

It´s the saddest time for me in 34 years of supporting Rangers.

I thought DM had acted with long-term vision in appointing PLG but erred in not giving him a 8-12M budget in his first year to re-build a poor team.

The worst thing about it was that it was our own players who refused to change and for that reason we are back to the old times.

WS, especially if he does the scotland job aswell doesn´t fill me with confidence, maybe short-term he can fire-fight.

News this weekend that Webster was injured in training before playing a game and that we may be looking to spend over a million on a 30 year-old (Hartley) makes me feel as I´ve made a backward journey in time.

    depressed loyal

  20. If that were his only problems he would still be in a job today with the chance in january to rectify those problems.

His problems were in the dressing room. That is where he lost out.

Murray chose the short term remedy again.

    I agree

The dressing room got away from him

This was a contributory factor in much of the other things that went wrong, especially games against the wee teams where fight and attitude were required.

  21. Thats unbelievable. Not just the comp but the fact Murray can spill pay offs right left and centre but wont pay a penny for a player other than SPL guys who are low wages. :admin:

So much for that article on here somewhere saying that Le Guen walked away without a penny and just his dignity intact!! :admin:

Given that the rumours first appeared in "the Sun" I wouldn´t take them as gospel !

When you think about it, far more likely that it was zilch given that PLG looks to have quit.
