  1. If we get the full picture of the knock on effects of the rights issue, I'd imagine that we will be in a better position to analyse the current shareholders strategy with regard to their intentions. Let's be frank, Dave isn't going to broadcast commercially sensitive information to all and sundry because people have been overtly critical of him and nor should he IMO.
  2. I could be wrong here but maybe Dave has learned something from last summer. He publicly announced that the SDI contract had been successfully renegotiated in the midst of discussions with Norwich City over Graham Dorrans. This may or may not have strengthened the Canaries bargaining position. If it did, it would serve no purpose to alert the market about increased resources for a second time. Personally, I think that there were questions to be fielded regarding club governance and King didn't want that to encroach on Gerrard's unveiling, hence a separate briefing. People have put two and two together and came up with five with regard to revealing new board members etc, etc.
  3. Agreed. On the surface of things this looks pointless but Dave doesn't do things without having a reason. For all we know he is speaking figuratively.
  4. Not by any means ITK, but have heard the following: Billy Walker of Glenallachie FSG John McLelland David Murray IMO all names listed above have some credence. Our former chairman (Murray) was mentioned by an acquaintance linked to a sponsor.
  5. Bill, do you reckon they've been pushed or have decided to walk? Decks being cleared for new investors? Will King sell if he markets a majority shareholding, a global name as manager, no externalising millstone contracts etc, etc?
  6. He has been trawling through The Bear Pit threads - what a pen fifteen. An appropriate rebuke from FF.
  7. Gerrard is too shrewd to entertain that type of tabloid tv which Sutton peddles to try and keep himself in the limelight. Lee Dixon has a good idea about how 'Sutty' should be treated.
  8. Good performance from the lads, salvaging some pride for the club. Heartening to see guys who are comfy on the ball! Mr Murty was in the stand - can we read anything into that? Regardless, well done!
  9. Everyone has valid points. Some with more currency than others, granted, but surely we can all agree that there are very few aspects of the club which we can say, hand on heart, as having changed for the better. The inescapable fact remains; the board have it all to do. I'll ask a question - if they don't deliver Gerrard or a manager with a proven pedigree, how long do we give them?
  10. I thought he had been up and had spoken to them already and knocked it back? A resounding no from me. He'll probably get mentioned for the Ipswich job and get back on the cash laden merry-go-round that is the English Championship.
  11. He'd cement Brown [edit by craig : please refrain from such derogatory terms, regardless of who it is]? Aye okay Allan. What we need is good players to make the Lego muncher frustrated to the extent that he loses the rag and does our job for us. Not that I'm a big fan of Tavernier, but who'd want Hutton back to replace him? Not me. Fair enough if he wants up the road but let's not give credence to guys past their sell-by dates bumping their gums about what they could and would do. Let's look forward and get things right for a change instead of looking backwards and trying to recapture supposed past glories.
  12. Undoubtedly, some will require to be paid off in full. Others will be financially induced to go and some will leave willingly to get on with their careers. On this subject, Rangers seem to be at the mercy of concerted poor decision making, neccessitating pay offs with tedious regularity. Think of guys like Emerson and Nuno Capucho who needed paying off to go. Others like Pippo Maneiro weren't difficult to deal with. No doubt Niko got a few quid to go but probably wasn't too stubborn. Whether Alves and Peña dig their heels in remains to be seen. McParland saddled us with a lot of these guys who were never good enough to begin with and conned the board into believing that he and his pal Mark were unearthing rough diamonds which could realise a good profit i.e. Dodoo. Let's hope Mark Allen doesn't provide us with similar mediocrity which will in all likelihood divert scarce resources to clear the decks for yet another wholesale rebuild.
  13. Ok. Let me removed the sanitised sugar coating. Truthfully, they'll be lucky to take a point and that would be from next weekend's fixture. If Murty remains in charge, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to be be beaten in all three remaining games.
  14. If the status quo is preserved, I reckon they'll be lucky to amass four points. And that's me being very generous. If the trainspotters have their shooting boots on they'll tear us apart.
  15. Wow. You reckon they'll collect maximum points from Pitawdry and Easter Rd? Don't forget McCrorie and Morelos are suspended for the final game. Optimism or realism?
  16. I had previously proposed Jimmy Nic but I fear he is tainted by association. How about Bomber to boot a few arses?
  17. Latest rumour... Stevie G with Gary Mac as his assistant and Tom Culshaw as first team coach. If true, interesting times ahead.
  18. Based on man-management??? You been up all night thinking that one up The 20's play the same system.
  19. Cheers Mack. Aye, I know...you never seen Alec Ferguson scribbling down notes in a pad did you?
  20. Gonzo, Buster, Gaffer - Lads, Sunday will reveal a lot. Even if we get a result, we'll get an impression if camp morale is good or not. Personally, I think it's gone past the point of no return where Murty is concerned. The board have, quite deliberately in my view, used Graeme's tenure as an experiment; a toe in the water of a young 'laptop' coach if you will, working in tandem with a technical director. This type of coach is widespread in Europe but the important distinction is that they are usually coming from a background of years of experience working with various teams at their club before promotion to the top job. Our esteemed board have fast-tracked Murty out of necessity, hoping for the best and it has come badly unstuck. It's almost as if Graeme has put the cart before the horse. He projects his philosophy and formation (which is currently en vogue in the coach's bible) in the same manner as he did when tasked with laying down foundations with the kids in his previous capacity at the club. He adheres to it no matter what, tinkering loosely at the edges from time to time. But, importantly, and this is where he and his blueprint fall down, the first team squad is ill equipped to play to the system. Graeme is hell bent on repetition bearing fruit because that is how he has been trained as a coach and the echoes of Warburton and 'plan B is to do plan A better' are there for everyone to see. All of which is laudable on one hand but doesn't necessarily equate in the art of 'management' where the emphasis is on getting the best out of the tools available to you. The players have obviously reached the end of their tether in listening to this stuff and have had enough culminating in Wallace and Miller blowing up. Can Graeme recover the situation? I don't think so. Any respect for him has long since dwindled away.
  21. Apparently the 'ahead of the curve' stuff was in response to a question he was asked in regard to where he thinks we are since 2016. To which he replied, making mention of running out at Brechin in 2012. I've not read a transcript of the interview if such a thing is freely available, but I can't help thinking that his language might well have implied meaning - 'we are lucky to still be here'. If I'm right and this is aimed at supporters as a reminder which could be interpreted by some as a scare tactic, it's difficult to escape the conclusion that we are all very much, being taken for granted. I'm repeating myself here. The UB lads have got it spot on. We deserve better.
  22. Self-indulgent bombast at best, contemptuous misdirection at worst?
