Alistair Johnston Statement Discussion: Murty to remain in place

Curiously, James the contributor forgot that Wallace (and Niko) had been effectively suspended by Pedro on the night of his last game. Miller of course had his past (understandably) held against him. and Ian the other contributor seems to allude to something along these lines... But I know a man who can make a nice cuppa cha'. -

Fair enough. I appreciate he may be hamstrung but surely any statements should be handled by the Chairman or at the very least the MD? Alistair chips in from time to time and usually it is prudent to take note of what he says, such as his institutional failure soundbite. I wonder if we can take from his alleged statement that Graeme's future hasn't actually been decided? Of course that could be in relation to his continued employment at the club in any capacity, never mind manager. -

Aye? Did you witness his performance at his Chairman's address for the AGM in 2010 or 11 (can't remember which)? A bumbling speech littered with Freudian slips if ever there was one. I sat there thinking to myself 'this guy is high up in IMG?' He was like a first year undergrad giving his first ever powerpoint presentation. -

Point. Re Peña, the boy's got a problem. Why oh why did they let Pedro sign him? -

I didn't think so, but I just thought I'd check to be sure. -

Maybe Alistair attended the same School of Nebulous Semantics as his Chairman. -

I'm genuinely surprised Bill. Did you think I was slagging them off with what I said in the last few posts? -

Mate, surely your body temp is above 37.2C if that sentiment includes the trip to the K'dale Karsi? I really fear a record score. -

Bill, I take it you have some connection to VB? -

Fair enough mate. The hardline stance that they tend to adopt isn't everyone's cup of tea but they do have moments when their comments are valid in a wider context. P.S. In response to Buster, was typing up as Bill had already posted. -

I've spoken to a number of Bears that are convinced that King is going to sell up imminently. I was skeptical before but now I'm not so sure. The line about support and not so much support during his tenure, does that pertain to in the boardroom or in the stands? Christ, if Murty has lost the dressing room and Robertson has 'laid down the law' to the dressing room and the players feel a sense of duty and solidarity with their maligned teammates, Halliday included, God help us at Parkhead. -

Perhaps Buster but I can only guess that the guys involved think that they're doing the right thing by their members. IIRC a chap quite rightly chinned Malcolm Murray for a pretty inane throwaway comment. -

I seem to recall that they were pre-occupied with marginal stuff at the meeting in the Grosvenor a few years back when wee Nacho stood up at the end to do his Julio Jockio impersonation. -
Hummel kit deal also begins today (June 1st)

Not that I necessarily keep abreast of such things as rigorously as I once did, but does anyone know if the sketchy rumoured with regard to contract worth is commensurate with other club's deals in terms of projected unit sales? Regardless of where we are as a club, the figures sound a little on the low side to me. Any retail guru care to comment and enlighten? -
Could Murty's choice of language be contrived to the extent that he has tacit approval from a guiding hand?
-
Agreed. If it goes on so long and the SPFA get involved and make a statement, we'll be in a better position to make an informed decision.

The CBC scandal should be brought up every time that shower get on their high horse. Regardless, in the first ten minutes on Sunday you could sense an unease in their end until their players started to get a grip. Everyone knows that their 'Superiority Complex' is about as solid as a baby's first bowel movement. I think you might be right Frankie, but I obviously hope that you are wrong as you no doubt do too. We won't have long to find out on that count. Ever the optimist (probably misplaced), let's hope they get their collective fingers out a week on Sunday.
-
I hope you are right mate. The suspense is starting to get to me as I fully expected, with some justification, that some good news would have been communicated to the support by now.
-
All this to-ing and fro-ing, making allowances, apportioning blame, realistic/unrealistic expectations, holding back because we are grateful to still have a club to follow and so on and so forth, the boys in the UB summed it up quite nicely and it should be adopted as a slogan as required depending on circumstances - We Deserve Better.

Addendum. My dismay turned anger turned back to dismay from the previous few days has subsided a little. That said, I'm still seriously considering my position with regard to cancelling my auto-renew if Graeme is given the job permanently. I'm holding out all hope that the board deliver and don't give me a difficult choice to make. Anyone else feeling the same dilemma?
-
I don't advocate a boycott. Like Gonzo says, give the board their complimentary bourbon in the Last Chance Saloon. But I concur wholeheartedly, I want Murty gone. If he remains in situ the mooted boycott, unfortunately, might just come about.

I agree with your assessment. Having said that, prior to Suspensiongate I reckoned some people would stay away to send a message. After the revelations I'd guess some of the predicted stayaways might turn up out of curiosity to see what might happen. It'll be interesting to observe what transpires. Euros or quids? Jeez, if that's true, to knock that back is an extraordinary leap of faith in Alfredo improving and delivering in big fixtures after the window closed. I also hope JC gets a chance and is signed permanently.
