  1. And just for info, where I'm coming from with the last post, not all Celtic-minded are as 'Indy minded' as many might think. During the run up to the 2014 referendum, I got involved in a discussion with a hardcore Celtic supporting acquaintance and asked him if he felt inclined to divulge, which way he would vote. 'Oh no question, remain.' 'Really?' I replied, 'why is that?' He then said, 'you'd be giving up a British passport.' 'Fair enough' I replied. He then asked me seriously, if Scotland were to go independent what would I do - '...move to Northern Ireland?' I just laughed and told him to behave. But back to the matter at hand, is BBC PQ and its role at a pivotal crossroads in terms of the bigger 'British' picture?
  2. Of the names mentioned in that line up, I'd be curious to find out if they vote for unionist parties (McCoist aside). I could be wrong, but I'd strongly imagine that few, if any, are SNP voters. But regardless, we have a bitter liar in charge of sports editing for a channel tasked with appeasing an increasingly agitated electorate whilst securing the political goal of maintaining the state status quo. This will be interesting to observe. If it were up to me, I'd still confine him and his associates to the roundabout.
  3. I propose a whipround to keep 26th in buckets.
  4. Took in 'Lok v Kilbirnie Ladeside on Saturday. Was a decent game and the second half in particular was reasonable to watch. Pollok try to play a bit and for £6 it's not too bad value. You can even get a bovril for a quid! Next league match at Newlandsfield is v Hurlford Utd who are currently top of the division. Should be a good game and hopefully the weather is kind for a big crowd.
  5. He's no scab Frankie. Don't be fooled by his slightly more upbeat commentary last night either. He'll have been told to be after BT received a barrage of complaints after the Villarreal game. He still sounds underwhelmed by it all. Can't wait for Fletch and Macca to have a go. Once you get past the high pitched scouse, at least they'd sound excited when we score a goal.
  6. He's a not so dandy don Frankie. Another irrelevance from the Fourth Estate.
  7. Ditto Coop and no lapses of 'When I was young' to play into FARE's hands either. I can't wait until Stevie gets a couple of transfer windows under his belt. Credit to the lads. There's no great players in there in all honesty (maybe with the exception of the goalkeeper) but we have good hard working players who will hopefully grow as a team and go to the next level all being well. Let's keep it going. Flanagan was excellent btw.
  8. The lads played well tonight. They tried like hell and their persistence was eventually rewarded. Another feather in Stevie's cap - ten games unbeaten in Europe and further evidence to potential investors watching on that he knows what he's doing. Not only that a good confidence boost ahead of the visit of Hertz on Sunday. Well done everyone, including the fans.
  9. *****Newsflash***** BBC Sport Scotland are all ar$eholes. *****end*****
  10. He's a former captain of my old school and by all accounts leans towards us. I've been in pubs where he's been in the vicinity of the company that I was in and he sounds every bit as affected as he does on telly. He strikes me as a phoney cum wido cum social politician and highly ambitious with it. However, having said that I've heard that he's a pretty genuine guy with people that he knows and is pretty loyal. At the end of the day he's a media animal and he's fairly adept at sensing which way the wind is blowing and keeping himself current. If that means being critical of some pissed up halfwit in the stands at Almondvale and by implication Rangers, he'll do so.
  11. I'm not too sure that a midfield three neecessarily works. They all rotated to take the ball from the centre halves yesterday but more often than not, the onus to start moves fell to Ovie. In my view, he's better further forward. Scott Arfield struggled to impose himself on the game (I think because he's essentially a limited player in terms of creativity) and Coullibaly doesn't quite look himself yet. Couple that with not moving the ball quickly enough, crosses from wide areas not being as crisp as they might be and Alfie not being able to drop off and take the ball into feet well enough meant that, despite lots of the ball we struggled to create good chances. I'm not going to go overboard yet on the criticism but yesterday's ordinary performance gave some cause for concern and you could argue that we could have easily shipped three or four goals. Can they bounce back against Rapid and Hearts? I'm reasonably confident that they can.
  12. There's no doubt in my mind that Stevie has nailed his colours to the mast with Alfie and possibly left himself open to some flak for doing so so unconditionally. Alfie needs to reciprocate, keep the head and repay his manager's faith by keeping himself available for selection. He should adopt a mindset that he isn't going to get any dubious decisions go in his favour, and use it to propel himself forward in the correct way. By all means protect yourself but be cute and don't draw attention to yourself unecessarily. He received little in the way of yellow cards during his time in Finland but he has been targeted by Scottish sides and he has reacted in the only way he knows how. He's due some criticism yes, but there should also be some recognition that he has fell victim to some underhand tactics in an attempt to nullify him. Not only that, but some referees have also been at the mercy of this purposeful dirty tricks campaign to get him to self-destruct. English could, if he was interested in being evenhanded, highlight this but he chooses not to. Yes, some of his observations are valid but again, his tone resonates and his article adds to the gathering feeling that Morelos is an uncontrolable hothead. Which isn't necessarily the case. Over to Alfie. He's the only man who can make the real difference where he's concerned.
  13. Leaving football out of it for a second, the BBC aren't very good at admitting guilt and saying sorry. A look into how Dame Janet Smith's report was covered by their output highlights this.

  15. I think you are wide of the mark John. I know of several Rangers fans who would never think of participating on Twitter, forums or blogs for that matter and are fully aware of the BBC situation. Can I ask you a serious question and I'm not being snide here - how often do you attend Rangers games?
  16. Walterbear, I like your thinking. But I'm afraid Fiona Hyslop wouldn't, in all likelihood, deviate from the party line. She could surprise people (including me) by taking up the cudgel though. However, I reckon it would be predictable were she to fudge the issue as it wouldn't be a votecatcher. Cue accusations of SNP hypocrisy with regard to delivering for all citizens.
  17. I can't believe my eyes. Is there a suggestion that only some of the Rangers support would be annoyed if McLaughlin's privileges were re-instated? Try 99.999%. There must be a parallel universe somewhere...
  18. Anyone got an issue with English's essay posted on their website yesterday?
  19. Careful Buster, you're in danger of descending into 'groupthink' there.
