  1. Thanks for that George. Only ten years too late.
  2. Fair enough mate. That's your take on it. As an aside, McLaughlin's access privileges were revoked because the club believed, rightly in my opinion, that he intentionally abused his position to propagate unsubstantiated untruths about Rangers supporters and their alleged behaviour. He then proceeded to tie himself in knots on social media when trying to justify his language and referral to sources. He was caught out, not for the first time, and his inaccuracies were rightly pointed out publicly by the club who were at pains to point out that previous attempts at conciliation regarding his professional behaviour had taken place with his employer and had subsequently proved to be fruitless. BBC Scotland then took the decision to stand squarely behind his report and refuted the club's claims, (for report read 'story') thereby adopting the organisational stance which has resolutely remained unchanged until present. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what benefit 'bargaining' if that's the correct term, will do when trying to curb this sort of thing. Obviously, litigating for defamation is probably a non-starter for a multitude of reasons but that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't fight your corner in other ways. There are some keen minds within Rangers and they have played the long game on this one. And, despite people having issues with how certain actors might or might not have adversely impacted on our situation to our own disadvantage, backing down when you are in the right does little for you in the long run if you ask me.
  3. Ok gents, just to clarify, I was speaking in general terms. I detect among the Rangers online community (not confined to Gersnet or other forums btw) the odd departure from conventional wisdom re the BBC and its interaction with the club. Although small in number, the occurrences appear to be on the rise. From my point of view there is an insistence in some quarters, and I'm not accusing any one individual here, that the BBC should stand apart from reasoned criticism simply because we have been historically conditioned to regard it as a paragon of journalistic virtue. Ergo, BBC Scotland Sport and its agenda is merely thought of as a parochial aberration and that the proclaimed ethics of the corporation as a whole be factored in to any reasoned analysis of said department's output. I'm not imagining this. If you look, you'll find it. And furthermore, in the interests of context, I can appreciate that in some cases the tone of forum posts can be misinterpreted. I'm not in the business of intentionally offending anyone, least of all, on here.
  4. This is it mate. Compile the dossier and continue to do so. When appropriate call them out with unequivocal evidence of their wrongdoing. We are better than them but making excuses for them in a vain effort to be balanced is a no no. P.S. I'm not accusing you of doing such a thing btw.
  5. You can be objective and not succumb to apology mate. In fact, resorting to apology actually devalues your objectivity. Edit. N.B. In response to Buster's comments not 26th's.
  6. Not accusing you of this per se Buster, but an apologist is just that: an apologist.
  7. Ten out of ten Joe. Go to the top of the class.
  8. Can I ask a genuine question of the forum community please? Why are so many of us in the rush to be even handed and purposefully objective, actually becoming apologists for a shamefully biased regional sports department of the national broadcaster? Look at the still on their website for the embedded highlights for our game at the weekend - Morelos pushing a Dundee player. The BBC shouldn't be placed on a sanitised pedestal whether it is covering sport, entertainment, politics, wars, or anything else for that matter. Dear old Auntie eh? Pffft!
  9. You can be certain that Andy Scoulding will be on the look out for potential replacements for all our saleable assets. That's why the structure of the club was organised in the manner that it has been in the first place. The footballing department looks to be in as good a shape as it has in a long, long time. This isn't a case of chequebook managers buying good to excellent ready made players a la Smith and Advocaat. This is proper business modelling from a footballing perspective. It's joined up thinking. They tried to do it on the cheap with Warburton and it backfired badly. Caixinha was an inexplicable case of bullshit baffles brains. Third time round, the board have dispensed with the cheaper option approach and look to have sorted it out. To think of the good money frittered away on the likes of Rob Kiernan and Harry Forrester...jesus! I'll be utterly astounded if Gerrard, Allen et al don't deliver.
  10. Kevin Clancy and his assistants (this time, Sean Carr) are invariably incompetent. His handling of the game yesterday ruined it for players and fans alike. Behold...
  11. Please don't take this the wrong way but Alasdair isn't connected to the BBC is he?
  12. Aye. But is that the same as asking why the SFA needed the money? Haughey and Maxwell have confirmed that the altruistic donation is going to the SFA and not Queen's Park. Why?
  13. Of course, no one has asked why the SFA needed a gift of £2.5m. But hey that doesn't come into journalistic rigour these days at BBC PQ. The Daily Mail ran a story with Haughey confirming that Tom Hunter is part of the deal. Ian Maxwell is asked by other journos if any other benefactor is involved, his answer: "no". Hmmm... You are spot on with McLaughlin et al Rick. Subliminal and supraliminal visual stimuli. All part of action priming by our national broadcasting service.
  14. The word is that BBC regional staff in England want to interview Gerrard but PQ would view that as tantamount to crossing the picket line. Bun fights have ensued and are in the process of being subject to arbitration from Network in London. I wonder what the middle ground will look like.
  15. He's shown a degree of regret and contrition and he may have been badly advised by Willie Mackay but nevertheless, he committed a cardinal sin. If he were to re-sign, I would never boo him. However, he should never get back in my view. He knew full well what he was saying.
  16. There are more than a few undesirables masquerading as bottom feeders across the political spectrum Buster, but John Mason is a repeat offender and he is most definitely offensive in the extreme. He badly needs a dose of reality and a timely reminder that he cannot act without compunction. I pity the poor people of Shettleston having this moron represent them.
  17. When is someone with political authority, gravitas and respect going to take these arseholes to task? It is long overdue. Unionist terrorists? The man is a complete and utter imbecile. But wait, he's acting as an individual and doesn't represent the party as a whole. Isn't that right? Step forward Nicola to reprimand him. And then I woke up and had my Millicano. The O.O. Isn't exactly my cup of cha, but they've been more than slighted here. Difficult to get him on slander/libel/defamation but he deserves to be hauled over the coals for this.
  18. Just mentioned it mate. I gather you know him or know of him as his Clyde affilation isn't mentioned in the article? I wasn't implying or insinuating anything.
  19. Saltires waved as 'England's green and pleasant land' rings round the hall.
  20. Anyone notice one of the photos in the Sun's report shows a guy with a Clyde top on?
  21. All the best with the CO wish mate. But your last two points, I concur with entirely.
  22. Agreed on God forbid anything happening to the members of the Fourwheel Loyal. But in any inquiry our fans would substantially take the blame (and I'm not condoning irresponsible behaviour here). The Celtic players would get a slap on the wrist. The cops? That's anyone's guess. Although I have my own theories on that count.
  23. Don't expect fans to ignore incitement mate. It's just not going to happen. The wheelchair fans have been collateral damage here and it is unfortunate that some fans have been irresponsible in not making sure that they are safe. Brown and Griffiths are woodentops. You'd expect no less. The main culprits here are the cops. Any senior policeman worth his salt would've instructed his officers to step in and prevent their players from rubbing the noses of our fans in it. But as I've pointed out on other threads, the Poileas have an agenda. If you ask me, it is very sinister.
