I just wish we would look forward instead of backwards for a change. We have amazing traditional colours (blue, white, red & black) but lets' move them in terms of the actual designs. I Googled "Rangers 2018/19 strip" and almost every mocked up strip was a rehash of our old strips (Adidas, Nike). It's bad enough that we've had that awful Puma copy of the mid 80's Umbro number over the last few years.

I don't really think there's much you can do with the "light blue shirt/white shorts" combo before you start p*ssing off a large chunk of the support by chanaging it too much. I can't imagine us in blue n white stripes, or blue body/white arms.

It could be worse - we could be stuck thinking of different ways to make green and white hoops look slightly different every other year, so as to continue fleecing our support.

He grew up a Jambo so he has no excuse.. After everything he achieved with Rangers he's really twisting the knife publicly parading his son at Parkhead in a Celtic kit.

What annoys me more about the Whittaker thing - and the MOH/Hampden one as well - is the fact that our support is getting hung up on Celtic related shenanigans.

Who gives a flying f*ck what that lot and their cronies are up to? Getting obsessive about your closest rival is their game - not ours.

Anyway, apologies - I'm not specifically having a go at you DMAA, I just happened to quote you here.

No, the word "fenían" has nothing at all to do with Catholicism, Roman or otherwise. Some people, for their own purposes, have tried long and hard to persuade you that it is ... to the extent they have effectively redefined the term ... such is the power of victimhood in our precious modern society ... but it isn't. Google says ...

"a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, a 19th-century revolutionary nationalist organization among the Irish in the US and Ireland. The ******s staged an unsuccessful revolt in Ireland in 1867 and were responsible for isolated revolutionary acts against the British until the early 20th century, when they were gradually eclipsed by the IRA."

No mention of Catholics. Of course we could always just change the words and say up to the knees in IRA blood ... would that do? xD

I thought - and I've used good ol' Google to check - that it came from further back than the 19th century.

"The origin of the term f****n comes from Irish folklore (the word itself a derivative of Fianna, an ancient Irish goddess). It described an ancient group of Knights who were self-reliant and had a passion for Irish land. So great was their passion according to the legend, they gave up a chance for world dominion to keep Ireland."

And then it's linked to the 19th century story listed above by:

"This fit very closely with the beliefs of the modern movement and was taken as the organization name"

Earned my chufty badge for the day with that.

Oops I was a bit lazy in not looking that up ?

Yes but the point is the strategy which is clearly paying off (literally!). On those figures the value of each acquisition has risen by a multiple of 3.5. RB Salzburg have even better figures and Monaco are another good example.

Surely it helps that Red Bull pumped around 52 million Euros* into the club though? We don't really have the luxury of that kind of investment.

There are more appropriate ways to show displeasure instead of acting like some kind of moronic thug .

Not meaning to start an argument, but show displeasure at what? The guy went to a school to speak to some kids. Its not like he went round the crowd at Ibrox trying to convert everyone.

Fact is, he's one of our players (at the moment, despite hardly playing) and for our own supporters (allegedly) to attack him is out of order.

  6. Not sure how it works for modern football teams these days, but surely the whole team going out boozing would help them bond? I know it's probably frowned upon for professional athletes to drink, but surely it would help break down barriers?

Maybe not during the season, when they're expected to play right enough. And maybe don't tell Pena about the session...

I just get the impression that they're too pampered & need a right good kick up the arse.

As for a Haka...that might be taking it a bit far, but some sort of pre-game ritual which tells everyone "It's time for the game faces" probably wouldn't go amiss.

I know it's not quite the same thing (different shaped baw for a start...) but I used to play rugby years ago and we always did a ritual before every match where we basically made as much noise as we could, shouting and with our studs, to get us wound up for the game. Worked an absolute treat and probably helped put the sh*tters up the opposition as well!

Not so easy if the great game of fitba though, seeing as how both teams have to hang about in the tunnel before being ushered onto the field. Would take the sting out of it a bit!

Over the past few years, there has been a lot of comment around our full/wing backs - Tav, Waldo & John - in that while they are great ar surging forward, often they lack some of the more defensive qualities that are required.

Ideally, we would like to have a good balance of defend & attack on both sides, but that is unlikely to happen.

So, where should the main focus be??

I think, considering the importance of the last game, I'd rather see them defending better. Given that a draw might be enough to bag second place, I think being stronger at the back and hitting on the counter might be the best bet. That being said, I'd love to see Lennon squirm as we rode all over the top of his team! :D

Pena is 28 years old. If he's not 'wised up' by now he never will. The reason he joined Rangers was clubs in Mexico had lost faith in him, only the Caixinho connection got him a gig at Cruz Azul, now that's bombed no one will touch him. I'd be astonished if he ever plays for Rangers again. He'll surely be told he needs to report to training everyday, but he won't be considered for the 1st team and he won't be getting any win or appearance bonuses, or else he can find another club or rip up his contract and walk away. I expect a similar conversation has/will take place with Herrera.

I think we'll keep Morelos though I don't expect us to sign Cummings permanently.

...except that 3 different places (the Record, the Sun and the Nottingham Post) are reporting today that Rangers have opened talks to take Cummings permanently.

Said it before ... having him with us would probably mean he gets away from his troubles in Mexico, chicas, alcohol, whatever. You can see his ability in glimpses, 5 goals in 14 games tells its story ... not least with a chap half-fit. Obviously, we are no rehab-centre, but who knows. Staying in Britain and being supervised a little may bring the player out of him, if his mind is with it. After all, who would not rip oneself apart to be part of the Gerrard revolution, play "in Europe" and end up in the EPL :shifty::D

You wonder what will be made of this loan deal. It was strangely long and who knows how it can be terminated / shortened. I would assume King is not privvy to the finer details. Methinks we cut Beerman's loan deal short as he was getting no games at QP or the like?

I don't think him being here in Scotland well help much to be honest - if anything, I think it's the Scottish influence that's brought the worst out in him. I heard stories about him being seen in Waitrose on Byres road buying a carry out on the way home from training. I've no idea if that's the truth though, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Him being constantly hungover though could be a good explanation as to why he was always a couple of yards off the pace in every game he played.

I don't get the crossbar saving us bit to be honest while it does look spectacular it hits the crossbar because it is not accurate enough to go in the goal. If it hits the top of the crossbar with the bottom of the ball then it is almost a foot away from scoring. As I say it looks spectacular but counts for nothing.

I'm pretty sure I meant it tongue in cheek. I've read it back and it seems tongue in cheek to me. I mean, I guess I could write *tongue in cheek* after a comment like that, just so folk know, but then I'd be wasting time when I could be doing actual work here *tongue in cheek*.

    See? It doesn't work.
