  1. Saturday, 3 November 2007 Time Res Att Tab TV Kilmarnock v Celtic------------ 12:30-----------------------*** Aberdeen v Dundee United------15:00 Falkirk v Gretna-----------------15:00 Motherwell v St Mirren----------15:00 Rangers v Inverness CT---------15:00 Sorry for the late entry but i can only say i was busy doing nothing. Apart from that i fought to make a Taxi that i didn't find good enough so ended up dumping it. Kilmarnock took points off Celtic in the first game of the season but have struggled really until they had a good result last week against Hearts. I have went the whole season picking Celtic for a win but i see a draw on the horizon here so my choice is. Draw Aberdeen against Dundee utd looks like a draw on paper but i think Aberdeen will win this one so i am going for an Aberdeen win. Aberdeen win. Falkirk against Gretna can only have one result for me and that is a Falkirk win. I still question if a rich man bringing a club like Gretna with a small fan base to the highest level is good for any parties. Firstly they need a stadium that can never be filled and secondly as Rangers fans know a chairman can turn the money tap closed to leave the club in financial problems. Falkirk win Motherwell - StMirren This is the best chance of a draw for me as SMirren as St Mirren have been difficult to break downin recent weeks and have a knack of even snatching the odd win. Motherwell will trying to get back on track but i fancy this for a draw. Draw. Even although we lost to Inverness at Ibrox last season i don't see it happening today. Inverness will try to get players behind the ball and close down the midfield quickly. A lot will depend on getting the first goal i feel if we get that goal early, then we will go on to get three or four. If we struggle to get that opening goal then it will get harder and harder to break Caley down as they grow in confidence. If we have any asperations of winning the league then we have to win these games. Rangers win. Sunday, 4 November 2007-------Time--------TV Hibernian v Hearts---------------14:00 ------*** Sorry forgot the Sunday Game. Hibs win.

  3. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=150&Itemid=1 The Rangers Supporterââ?¬â?¢s Trust is delighted to announce our inaugural ââ?¬Ë?Gers Prideââ?¬â?¢ Conference, to be held within Ibrox Stadium next Saturday 10 November (Outline timings 10am until 3.30pm). A prestigious panel of confirmed speakers includes: Ian Davidson, MP for Glasgow South West, Professor Steve Bruce of Aberdeen University, Dirk Manser, Curator of the SV Hamburg Club Museum, Stewart McAfee of the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs, Grahame Smith, General Secretary of the Scottish TUC and Andy Mitten of the Manchester United Supportersââ?¬â?¢ Trust. Members of the RST Board will also speak at this event. The Conference is open to all members of the Rangers Supportersââ?¬â?¢ Trust and provides a much-needed space for fans to debate and explore all the issues around Rangers, about being a football supporter in the 21st Century, and tackling the thorny issues of racism, sectarianism and other forms of prejudice. It will consider mainstream Scots culture, politics, education, the wider civic society and look at how the Rangers family relates to these. Guests from England, Northern Ireland and Germany will help give the event UK-wide and European dimensions. One again The Rangers Supportersââ?¬â?¢ Trust shows that it is the progressive organisation open to all and offering an alternative voice to the Rangers support, a support either excluded from debate or dishonestly portrayed as being backward-looking and bigoted. As a democratic fan-led body, we are proud to offer this Conference as a major step forward in this exciting and challenging period for all members of the Rangers family. Interest in this event is likely to be extremely high so at this stage attendance is limited to members. Furthermore, to help pay for lunch and refreshments, there is a small fee of Ã?£5 per person. Tickets can be bought below and are limited to one member/one ticket at this stage. Please can you highlight your Trust membership number when ordering. 4. I just want to go through our squad and pick out a few players (mostly Smiths buys) who have made a impression on me this season - good or bad. Firstly Im going to start with our keeper Allan McGregor. I was screaming for a new experienced keeper to come in during the summer as I didnt see McGregor as good enough for our No.1. However slowly but surely he is 1 player who is beginning to win over me a bit. He is improving as a keeper. He is no way a Goram or Klos and he still has a few things in his game to sort out but he is pulling of fine saves week in week out. Id still take a experienced keeper but its not such a issue now with AM improving. Steven Whittaker - He is one player who Im baffled about. I can easily think where his fee could have went to other than on him. Hopefully we dont see him on the right of midfield too often again. Kevin Thomson - Again he is another who still has to win over me. He has had a handful of good games here and there but I find him ineffective in games. He only plays well when Ferguson is tucked in beside him. Hemdani is in a different league to him. Amdy Faye - When he signed I thought he would be good back up and his premiership experience will see him in good stead. Holy shit! He has made 2 x 45 mins appearances and looks about as much as a footballer as Terry Wogan. If there is a defence for him, he has been thrown into 2 tough away games where he isnt used to the pace. An appearance at Ibrox in an easier game may have been a better way to start him of. Lee McCulloch - I wanted him a while ago and said his fee would be worth it. His physical pressence is priceless at times. He has had a few quiet games in the league but is a trier and is going well. Steven Naismith - Ive only seen a glimpse of him and I liked what I saw. Needs more first team action - even if its coming off the bench. DaMarcus Beasely - He has actually won over me a bit aswell. I had a bad impression of him coming to us after reading Pete's comments about him in the close season. But he does a decent job down the left. Daniel Cousin - He is playing with his hands tied IMO. If we could give him the right service and partner then he will be a nightmare for opposition defences. Id give him Buffel, Darcheville or Naismith upfront and he will cause huge problems. I like him! Alan Gow - I feel sorry for him. He hasnt kicked a ball. I cant work out why he hasnt even came off the bench and been tried. Hemdani - I know he isnt Smith's signing but he has to get back into the starting XI in place of Thomson and sit infront of the defence with Ferguson next to him in the midfield. Buffel - Again not a Smith signing - but must be given a try to play behind the front men/man. I think a team with Buffel, Ferguson and Hemdani in it and a Novo flying down one wing will hugely improve us.
  5. Oct 30 2007 By Keith Jackson Exclusive BRAHIM HEMDANI has moved to quash claims he is determined to quit Rangers. The ex-Marseille captain spoke exclusively to Record Sport to counter claims he is on the verge of agreeing a January switch to English Premier League outfit Reading. Reports have surfaced in France suggesting Hemdani may have already been granted permission to begin signing talks with Stevie Coppell ahead of the opening of the transfer window. But the player himself is adamant no such agreement is in place - and insists he has no plans to push for a move when the market opens up. When asked about the latest reports linking him with a move to the Madjeski Stadium Hemdani said: "Who? Reading? No. There is no change with my situation. "I have no problems at all and I'm not looking to go back to France or anywhere else. I am happy with the club and I am happy to play here. "That's why it's strange there are noises about Reading. I don't know where this has come from. It has not come from me or my agents." An unhappy Hemdani met manager Walter Smith in August demanding to be released from his contract after being frozen out of Smith's SPL plans. But the 29-year-old Euro specialist recently battled his way back into Smith's domestic starting 11 before being sidelined with a groin injury. But Hemdani expects to be back in action in time for Rangers' SPL clash with Inverness at Ibrox - and is hoping to reclaim his midfield anchor role for next week's Champions League blockbuster in Barcelona. Hemdani, who has 18 months left on his contract, said: "I just have to be patient and work hard to get my place in the team. I hope to be ready to play again this weekend and should be fit for the game in Barcelona." I would hate us to lose this guy as he is one of the few class players we have. I do think that unless smith starts to play him he will leave in January though.

    Taxi!!!

Well that was the first old firm game of the season. and what a game it was. Celtic were so off the pace even Lewis Hamilton couldnt have closed the gap. Well Lewis wasnt in a gap closing mood at the weekend anyway. What is a tim in an Ibrox derby- Timid Word has it that Scott McDonald had been in touch with Tam McGowan before the game, seemingly he wanted to do a whole series of offside And then there was our big friend Artur Boruc, what a guy. After the game he wouldnt give a hand to the Rangers players. Well he never got a hand to anything the whole afternoon anyway. Story goes that he was so upset he refused to go on the bus back to Parkhead saying he would catch a taxi. Wee Gordie replied well I hope you have better luck catching that. It is rumored that Celtic have a new transfer policy. They wont sign a player who has been circumcised, You have to be a complete dick to play for them. There was a wee striker from Spain, For Rangers against Celtic he was playn, Big Caldwell was slow, and let the ball go, For Nacho to head home again. Our captain had his mind set, a win is what we would get he wouldnt let O'Day, get in his way, as he toe-poked the ball in the net. Charlie Adam made the tims sick as he mystified Sno with a trick, Evander thought he would shoot, then gave Adam the boot, Nacho stroked home the penalty kick. The Celtic supporters felt so proud, and were trying to sing very loud, but they all ceased their din, when the goals flooded in, now theyre a much quieter crowd. Before the game Boruc is a perpetual crosser, during the game a perpetual dosser, seemingly his god, wont shake hands with a prod, or is he just a bad losing Tosser. Shunsuke Nakamura had asked Gordon Strachan to go for a drink with him after the game but Gordie had to renege. He was frightened of the Sak-i . Taxi!!!
  7. ------------------------------time-----------TV Celtic v Motherwell------------15:00 Gretna v Inverness CT---------15:00 Hibernian v St Mirren-----------15:00 Kilmarnock v Hearts------------15:00 Sunday, 28 October 2007 Time-----------------TV Dundee United v Rangers-------14:00---------*** Aberdeen v Falkirk-------------15:00 A great looking fixture list for this weekend with four of the top five playing each other. Only Hibs seem to have a slightly easier game. Celtic-v-Motherwell. Celtic have been struggling of late with a very lucky last minute win against bottom team Gretna after being behind 1-0 for 85 minutes. Then a decisive 3-0 defeat at the hands of Rangers at Ibrox last week, followed by a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Benfica in the champions League. If there is a team at the moment you would not want to meet on that form then Motherwell springs directly to mind. Motherwell have been playing some of the best football in the SPL this season and Mark McGhee will be urging his players to have a go at a injury hit Celtic team. At Fir park i would go for Motherwell but i think Celtic will still be strong enough at home to win the points. Celtic win. Gretna-v- Inverness. Craig Brewster has got Caley going again and i would expect them to be too strong for a Gretna side that look more and more like the strongest candidates to drop back to the first division. Their defeat by St Mirren last time out means they are losing points to the teams they need to beat to secure a SPL place next season. Inverness also fall into that category if Gretna want SPL football next seson they have to win these games. I don't see Gretna beating Inverness. Inverness win Hibernian-v-ST Mirren. This would be easy to say a certain Hibs win but St Mirren are a team you have to be sharp to beat. They can grind out results as they make it hard for opposing teams. Hibs lost to Motherwell last week but played most of the game with ten men. If Hibs play to form then they should win but any weakness could see St Mirren grind out at least a draw. Hibs win. Kilmarnock-v-Hearts. Of all the teams Hearts are the Jekyll and Hyde of the SPL. A great game one week and an atrocious game the next. Before last week they seemed to have hit form but at home against a good Dundee united team they were always playing second fiddle. Kilmarnock are a refined middle of the league team who you need to be at your best to beat, but have had attacking problems this year. This game depends on what Hearts team turns up but i fancy it as a Draw, Draw. Dundee United-v-Rangers. Once again Rangers seem to get the inform team. It happened at Motherwell and Hibs and now at Dundee UTD. If you only look at October then United would in fact be top of the league as they were the only team not to drop points. This will be a game where we really have to be at our best to get the win. I can't see Dundee Utd beating us but they could grind out a draw and we really have to be sharp. Hopefully we can get a result as it would be a shame to undo the good work we put in last week. Rangers Win. Aberdeen- v- Falkirk. Aberdeen come back from a disappointing defeat at the hands(or feet) of Panathanikos, As they played on Thursday then they could suffer from Fatigue but i would expect them to get back on song and beat Falkirk to keep up their fight for a Euro place next year. John Hughes wants to play attacking football but to be honest he will have to rethink that strategy if results keep going against him, if he wants to keep his job. Even allowing for Jet-lag i think the Sheep will win and keep up their fight for that Euro place. Aberdeen win.
  8. More Than A Club If ever a statement summed up the way we all feel about The Rangers it is ‘more than a club’ and I have to say, last nights game against Barcelona was the pinnacle for this Bear in my 25+ of ‘follow following’ the great institution that is Rangers Football Club. It is funny to think that it may actually be bettered when I visit Barcelona for the ‘return game’ next month. The anticipation that I felt in the lead up to the Barcelona game has only ever been matched by the buzz I felt prior to entertaining Kiev in the late 80’s, Leeds (home and away) in 92/93 and possibly the build up to the ‘Celtc Shame Game’ when we dismantled them in their own midden and won the league in the process. To say for the last week that I have mirrored a kid in a candy store is the biggest understatement of the year! And I have to say that occasion didn’t disappoint. From the wonderful card display pre-match (well, do we do anything other than wonderful displays?) to the 92 minutes and the aftermath, this was an occasion that in years to come, we will all fondly recall that ‘we were there’ (those of us lucky enough to get tickets, and I dare say some of us that weren’t lucky enough! In 20 years time, over 100,000 will claim to have been there!!!!). Barcelona, like ourselves, rightly proud themselves as being more than a club (Club motto is “El Barca es mes que un club”) – they are a political focal point to the Catalans and like ourselves, they were founded purely out of the love of the game (by a couple of Englishmen and a Swiss gentleman who actually changed his to name to the Catalonian version!). Their club also became a focal point of the anti-Franco movement in Spain and that is why we are held in great esteem in this famous of footballing cities and clubs. As Carlos Puyol stated when the draw was made, we are still remembered by the locals for giving Franco’s fascist Police a chasing and will be the recipients of a warm welcome when we visit in November. This flies in the face of the lies and innuendo that the ‘unbiased’ Scottish media and the MOPES will have peddled since we achieved our Cup Winners Cup success at the ‘camp nou’. They will tell you that we raped, pillaged, ransacked Chapels where the reality couldn’t be further from their lies. In fact, we were invited back to Barcelona the following season to participate in Barca’s anniversary celebrations. Anyway, back to last night and the game itself went past as a ‘blur’ for this Bear, but I did witness enough to see that our team put in one hell of a shift and everyone of us should be proud of everyone one of them! I also couldn’t help but notice that Barca were a class act, probably one of the best teams I have seen at Ibrox (along with Juventus and Valencia) and that their players also had a ‘touch of class about them’. I don’t just mean footballing ability wise, but noticed that when Henry was substituted, he made an effort to pass BF and wrapped an arm around our captain and encourage him to keep going and to rally the troops. This gesture was then copied by Puyol – two examples of sportsmanship. The result puts us in a fantastic position in the group and it looks like our last game against Lyon could decide our fate. However, before getting that far ahead of ourselves, it is worth remembering that that is 9 consecutive CL games without defeat and in 7 European games this season, we have conceded just 1 solitary goal. As Walter Smith said in his interview, a year ago we were defeated in the League Cup at home by St Johnstone and 9 months ago, we were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dunfermline (that is taking nothing away from them, or any disrespect to those two clubs – both deserved their victories). Here we are 12 months later, battling out a 0-0 draw with arguably the best team in the world. This may sound utterly mental, and as I can’t believe that I am typing it, but was I the only one who thought that we were going to sneak it in the last 10 minutes? I just had this gut feeling that something magically was going to happen, a lose ball was going to fall our way and be tucked into the net. The only other example of this I can readily recall was the Porto away game where they dominated possession, scored and we then equalized – it was that sort of a feeling, if you know what I mean. Anyway, it didn’t detract for a wonderful game, and amazing experience and an evening that once again, reinstated the fact that we are ‘more than a club’. The Aftermath In saying all of the above and heaping praise on the players (and lets not forget the manager and his staff) the victory over Celtc and last nights escapades will count for nothing if we do not take maximum points form Dundee United at the weekend. We must find a level of consistency on the SPL and show that we are capable of mounting a sustained challenge and show no adverse reactions from CL exertions. Given the nature of last nights game and the effort (mental as well as physical) put in by the players, I can envisage WS making some changes to the starting 11. Those brought in MUST deliver and show a hunger and desire to push us forward on the domestic front. They must use this as an opportunity to be involved in the next big European night. So, the pressure is on, they must perform and we mustn’t allow this utterly fantastic week to end on s sour note. Arthur Boric I know I shouldn’t give this cretin ‘column inches’ but the latest outburst from the ‘Holy Goalie’ can not be left unchallenged – although I fully expect the club to ignore the ‘neds’ comments even though they bring the game into disrepute and our players character into question. The ‘Holy Goalie’ claims that he was justified in ignoring our players offer of a sporting handshake as he ‘dislikes them and our club’. Now, that part of his statement is fair enough, but he then goes on to insinuate that unspecified Rangers players ‘spat on him’. Come on Arthur, with the amount of press coverage the OF generates and with the majority of the press in Scotland being ‘pro-Celtc’, I sure that if one of our players had spat on (or at) you, this would have been noticed and reported. I am also sure that one (or more) of the MOPES who trawl TV, You Tube, paper etc evidence to be offended at, it would not have gone unnoticed. It is now up to Rangers (as well as the SFA and SPL) to bring the Holy Goalie to task over these allegations. He must be made to identify the supposed culprit or be ‘outed’ as the liar that he undoubtedly is. Cammy F – We Are The People….
  9. Tims have had the best chances in the first-half. I disagree with the guy's who say they would not have Scott Brown at Ibrox he has good skill and fights for everything. Benfica don't look that great to be honest although they did have one good chance. This could go either way.
  10. You're Fan-tastic RANGERS Chief Executive Martin Bain today praised the Club's supporters for creating an 'outstanding Champions League atmosphere ' against Barcelona at Ibrox. He said the Rangers fans ensured that Ibrox was seen 'at its very best' and the supporters provided a massive boost to the team. The chief executive said: "Our fans deserve real credit for the effort they put in to create another outstanding Champions League atmosphere at Ibrox. "The players have asked me to convey their thanks to the fans for their tremendous support. It really makes a difference to the team to have the whole stadium in full voice. "Our supporters put an enormous amount of work into creating a card display which reflected the visitors are 'more than a club' and that they feel the same way about Rangers. "They also made sure the atmosphere was kept up throughout the game which was a great boost to the team and showed Ibrox as an excellent arena for these big games. It was a very good night all round for Rangers." Mr Bain also paid tribute to Rangers fans groups for launching their 'Champions League - We're Having a Ball" campaign to celebrate the Club's two glamour games against Barcelona. He said: "The fans are determined to create a party atmosphere around these games and Barcelona is a special place for our Club. To see the Barcelona supporters applauding the Rangers fans at full time was fantastic. "The 'Having a Ball' campaign deserves the full support of every Rangers fan and everyone associated with the Club."
  11. LOUIS VAN GAAL last night warned Rangers they face mission impossible tomorrow night against Barcelona. The Spanish giants have big injury problems ahead of the Champions League clash with Portuguese ace Deco out for five weeks and fellow midfielders Yaya Toure and Rafael Marquez also on the sidelines. Ronaldinho missed Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Villarreal amid more reports of partying while away on World Cup duty with Brazil while Thierry Henry failed to sparkle at the weekend. But former Barca coach van Gaal has written off Walter Smith's side despite their emphatic Old Firm victory and successive group wins over Stuttgart and Lyon. He said: "Anything can happen in football but it's impossible for Rangers to beat my old club. "Rangers are doing well and have surprised many with the way they've started the group stage of the Champions League but facing Barcelona is something else. "I'm sure they will believe they can do something in Glasgow - but I just don't think it's possible. "Not only do Barca work hard but they also have a great physical strength and I don't think you can stop them at the moment. Rangers can try but I do not think so." Van Gaal knows what it takes to win the Champions League after guiding Ajax to glory in 1995 and the AZ Alkmaar boss believes Rangers' best tactic is to sit in. The man who delivered two La Liga titles during his four-year spell at the Nou Camp knows stars like Ronaldinho, Henry, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o can pick holes in any defence in the world but reckons Barca are vulnerable to the counter-attack. He said: "People talk a lot about Messi but there isn't just one star at Barca - there are 11 stars. "My advice to Rangers is to reduce the space and look for any opportunity to hit them on the break. "The way Barca play there is always space in behind their defence and Rangers must use their quick players to make the most of this." Meanwhile, one of Henry's old Arsenal team-mates reckons the Frenchman can be stopped at Ibrox. Robert Pires was in the Villarreal side that won on Saturday night and he reckons Barca aren't giving Henry the ball enough Pires said: "Barcelona are not playing as they have to with Henry. "They are not looking for him enough. He hardly touched the ball against us. He is a player who needs to be on the ball. "He has to be involved in the game. At Arsenal when we had the ball we would always look for him but at Barcelona that is just not happening." Henry scored three times for France last week to become his country's all-time record goal scorer but delivered his worst Barcelona display ahead of the trip to Scotland. However, Pires blamed the poor club form on Barcelona's failure to play to Henry's strengths rather than any lethargy from his former team-mate. He said: "They both have to adapt to each other. Barcelona have to adapt and Thierry also but he is a player who is very easy to play with - and I'm not saying this because I played for three years with him." Pires led Villarreal's assault on Barcelona's jittery defence with the Barca back-line breached three times inside the first 35 minutes. And he believes a similar hightempo game can earn Rangers a shock win tomorrow. Pires said: "Rangers have to be aggressive in midfield. If you want to beat Barcelona you have to put them under pressure in the middle of the park. "You have to be on top of Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Deco, although Deco won't be playing after his injury on Saturday. "Those three are the most important players in their team and it is from there that the danger comes so you cannot afford to let them play. "It will be very difficult for Barcelona in Scotland because of the pace Rangers play at. "You would expect Barcelona to win but they always give you chances to score. You have to put them under pressure - that is why we won on Saturday. "We put them under pressure, we defended well, we got hold of the ball and we played with great intensity." Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna reckons Ibrox' intimidating atmosphere can roar Rangers to victory. The midfielder, who scored two penalties in the surprise weekend win, played at Ibrox two seasons ago for Villarreal in the last 16 of the Champions League. Senna said: "The fans are like an extra player for Rangers. The Ibrox atmosphere is one of the best in the world. "When I played there it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. "I would love it if the fans in Spain were like that. Rangers' supporters are among the best in the world and they can help their team enormously. "When we played there we drew 2-2 - we went ahead and then they came back at us and the fans made anoise I have never heard before. I will never forget that night." Senna agreed with team-mate Pires that Rangers can take the points if they get in among Barca's superstars. He said: "When you play against Barca you can't give them space to play. They have great players in midfield so you have to put them under pressure and play with speed and intensity because if not then they kill you. "I think Rangers can play that way - they are a very strong team, a big team in Scotland - and I think they can play with that intensity and beat Barca. "Of course, they have to play a very complete game because Barcelona are one of the best sides in Europe. "It doesn't get you anywhere to sit back against Barcelona. They will just play the ball around and they will wear you out with their passing game. "We were playing at home and we have a good team so we were not going to just sit back and defend. "We did what we always do - we played our football and tried to get forward whenever it was possible." Barcelona were criticised in the Spanish press following the defeat at Villarreal but Frank Rijkaard's No.2 Johan Neeskens insists his side aren't worried. He said. "Rangers always play the same way - especially at home - so we are not expecting any surprises. We know they had a big win at the weekend but that is good. "It won't change how we approach the game. Always when we go out to play a game we play for the win."
  12. Highly rated Austrian Referee Konrad Plautz will take charge of the the Champions League game at Ibrox tomorrow night. And that could be a lucky omen for Rangers, because Plautz was the man in charge when Rangers drew 1-1 with Inter Milan two years ago when we qualified for the last 16 of the CL. He was also the Ref at the Parc de Princes last month when Scotland won 1-0. Plautz has proved he is not intimidated by the glamour clubs as he sent off Cristiano Zanetti at Ibrox in that qualifier and was fiem and fair throughout. Plautz is a toolmaker to trade and is highly thought of by UEFA and covered the super cup final between AC Milan and Sevilla in Monaco in August. He was also in charge of Milans narrow 1-0 win over Celtic in the last 16 of the champions league last season.
  13. Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna reckons Ibrox' intimidating atmosphere can roar Rangers to victory. 15. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone can help me. Remember a few years ago Rangers were selling 'bricks' of Ibrox...think was £20 or so? You then got your name engraved on it and was there for ever more. Do you know if they still do this scheme?? Is just that a good friend of mine has passed away this week and he was a massive bluenose. Was thinking a good memorial would be to have his name engraved into Ibrox. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Malky

Celtc And The Art Of Losing Us Rangers fans are no strangers to the petulant and sometimes, bam right frightening way a Celtc player, manager (and most scarily) fans mind works after a defeat and especially an Old Firm defeat. No one can forget Chris Muttons scandalous comments after we defeated DAFC 6-1 to secure our glorious 50th League Title. For a fellow professional to come out on live TV and claim that his fellow professionals had cheated not only Celtc, but the rest of the league, DAFC fans etc left most people with a bitter taste in their mouths. To us Rangers fans who have witnessed such gracious comments in defeat, we just laughed and commented that it was the ‘Celtc Way’. In my lifetime of watching Rangers, I don’t think I have ever, in the aftermath of a title celebration, or an OF victory, picked up a post-match paper and read that Rangers won fair and square and that the game was ‘controversy free’. Today, after such a drubbing, the TWATS are keen to portray a well deserved victory, but you have the undercurrent and undertones that the referee was somehow ‘corrupt’. McCurry booked 9 Celtc players (didn’t send any off) and from my perspective, he got MOST (not all) of those bookings correct. In fact, you could criticise McCurry for not red-carding McDonald for his petulant kick at Alan McGregor and Scott Brown dished out some meaty challenges whilst on a yellow card. I came away from the game thinking that the worst decisions from the officials actually benefited Celtc – we had a very decent shout for 2 penalties that weren’t given and Lee McCulloch’s goal in the final minute WASN’T offside. Yet, listen to post match analysis and all the talk is of Celtc amassing 9 bookings. Now, we can not move on without a word regarding the Holy Goalie. Borat has previous, and not only in OF games. He has gestured to fans at Easter Road, Tynecastle and The Pits (to name a few), and yesterday seemed more interested in stirring up some passion from the gather MOPES than shaking hands with fellow professionals. Even his manager mentioned this in post-match interviews, but GS should take a look in the mirror before slating Borat. During his interview, GS refused to refer to Rangers, by name, once. It was ‘them’ and ‘they’. Compare and contrast this to Barry Ferguson and Walter Smiths post-match interviews. But hey, we are used to this, it’s the ‘Celtc Way’. The game itself developed into a very one-way encounter. We didn’t start the game that well but managed to impose ourselves and won ALL the personal battles. This allowed us to build momentum and establish our game plan. Barry Ferguson once again showed that on his game, he is one of the best midfield players in Britain. He has shown in 4 huge games this season (Stuttgart, Ukraine, Lyon and now the OF game) that he is everything that Scott Brown isn’t (as yet). His maturity shines through and he is a great leader on the pitch – he simply lifts those around him onto his level. We could had should have won by a more emphatic margin but we can be delighted in the 3-0 victory, or third OF victory on the bounce. This should be a platform for us and up next is the small matter of a visit from some team called Barcelona…. Big Jock Knew No matter your feelings on this chant, expression, topic, there is no doubt that Jock Stein was aware of child abuse at Celtc Park and did little / nothing to stop the abuse of children under the care of Celtc Football Club. There has been a subsequent court case concerning the perpetrators and during this case, evidence was given that Jock Stein and the Celtc board ignored warnings and refused to hand over these paedophiles to the Police. They were more interested in the clubs image. Now, at the game yesterday Police were confiscating scarves with the legend ‘Big Jock Knew’ on them. They weren’t giving any reason for this, they were just telling fans to bin the scarves or run the risk of not getting into the game, having their season tickets removed or facing a night in the cells. Surely you cannot be refused access to a football ground for carrying a scarf that is states a factually correct statement that has been proven in a court of law? Well, in Scotland you can. A Rangers fan in the Govan Stand was told to remove his top that had BJK on it. When he refused, he was arrested and was told that his details were being sent to Rangers and to expect a ban from Ibrox. The Police were asking Rangers fans entering the stadium to show them their scarves and Police were examining them. One fan with a ‘We Are The People’ scarf was told that this was offensive and sectarian and the Police confiscated the scarf. I wonder if the travelling supports scarves were under the same scrutiny? I doubt it as I saw a few with ‘FCUK Rangers’, God Bless The Pope (so much for keeping religion and football apart) and Bobby Sands scarves (there is a joke there, but we’ll not go there just now). MOPES Next Campaign I hear that the MOPES are going to lobby UEFA in an attempt to remove the five stars from our badge. According to Timmy (the oracle of world football) you can only display stars on your badge once you have won a European trophy, so we, like them should have only one star. Unknown to Timmy, issuing a star for 10 league titles started in the early 50's when Juventus won their 10th league title and added a star to their badge. This honour was then used in other countries like Germany and Turkey and once we won our 50th title, in started in Scotland. Little do Timmy know is that Rangers actually received permission and 'blessing' (sic) from UEFA to use the five stars as recognition of our world record of 51 titles. Nice try MOPES. Talking of MOPES, anyone hear the idiot on the phone-in last night? Complained that Rangers fans sang sectarian songs yesterday and that he was offended. The panel asked him what sectarian songs were sung. He then stated that he didn't know the titles of said songs. So then panel then asked him what the offending lyrics / lines were. He then said this, and I quote 'Look, I don't know what the songs are called and I don't know the lyrics to them but I do know that they offend me'....... Cammy F – We Are The People….
  17. .. now it is dangerious.... "RANGERS fans have been warned the Subway will be shutdown on Ibrox match days - unless they stop bouncing up and down in the carriages. Transport bosses fear dozens of supporters doing the bouncy' inside trains could spark a derailment. Now Strathclyde Partnership for Transport has appealed to the club to help them prevent a serious accident on the underground." http://eveningtimes.co.uk/news/displ...759365.0.0.php Cammy F
  18. RANGERS' fringe stars enhanced their chances of forcing their way into Walter Smith's top team plans when they defeated Newcastle United today 3-1 at St James's Park. Many of the lads who have been on the outside in recent weeks really put in good performances in the match which was played behind closed doors. Chris Burke and Steven Whittaker Young striker Rory Loy, Chris Burke and Alan Gow got the goals in a comfortable win for the Ibrox men against a strong Magpies side which included Joey Barton. Centre back Ugo Ehiogu was outstanding in defence for Rangers and he clearly wanted to show that he is bursting to get back into the real thing. Coach Ian Durrant said: "It was a good workout for the boys in many ways and we had a lot of good performances. "Big Ugo was exceptional at the back, but we also had really good performances from Alan Gow, Chris Burke and Charlie Adam which is obviously good news too. "We were obviously happy to win the game against a strong Newcastle side but it was more important to keep the lads ticking over." I don't see Buffel's name mentioned is he away with Belgium,or was he playing?
  19. after a long wait i made a few inquiries through a friend on the inside and i have finally got my SB back. pick my book up on saturday just in time for the hibs game. last bloody smoke i have at Ibrox i can tell you!
  20. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=142&Itemid=1 After a period of research and discussion, including a mandate from our members at the recent AGM, the Rangers Supporters Trust has made the following submission regarding the democratisation of the club through the election of a director on the basis of One Member - One Vote. ELECTION OF A FANS DIRECTOR TO THE BOARD OF RANGERS FC For the election of a fans director to be credible the Trust strongly believes that the franchise must be as wide as possible. The growth of the trust movement, itââ?¬â?¢s backing by both football and governmental authorities and the success of the Rangers Supporters' Trust all show there is a clear appetite for supporters to become more involved in their club. The Trust hopes that this is the beginning of a new era where the support and the Board of Rangers FC become intertwined and mutually supportive. To that end, and in keeping with our traditions of Rangers formerly being owned by ââ?¬Å?membersââ?¬Â who then took up the protection afforded them by limited liability status as the club grew through the issue of shares, we consider that the electorate should be defined as those holding season tickets and those who are shareholders. With an estimated 1,200,000 million members of the Rangers Family, the season ticket holders and the shareholders offer us two practical methods of granting a vote to the fans. The season ticket holders form the core of the support and the integrity of the database is more than adequate. The season ticket is a link with the days of the clubââ?¬â?¢s founders when membership, playing or non-playing, allowed admittance to the ground. Due to reasons of circumstance many committed fans are unable to posses a season ticket. However, for as little as Ã?£10 any fan can purchase a share in the club and give the club the use of their capital and so make a contribution in that way. So overseas fans and those unable to purchase a season ticket can still participate. A ballot paper would be issued to each shareholder on the basis of one per shareholder regardless of the size of the shareholding. This is both equitable and avoids any complex weighting arrangements, which are superfluous in any case given Sir Davidââ?¬â?¢s current shareholding. The integrity of the shareholder database is not in doubt. DUAL STAKEHOLDINGS ARE NOT A PROBLEM Having consulted the Electoral Reform Society concerning the possibility of a person having multiple season tickets or both a season ticket and a shareholding we consider this not be a hurdle. In this regard the ERS recognise the issue of those having different ââ?¬Å?stakeholdingsââ?¬Â in the club and point out that organisations such as the Labour Party have members who may simultaneously be MPs, members of their constituency parties and members of a trade union. Those circumstances are dealt with via an electoral college, but with regard to Rangers the crossover is likely to be so small as to not materially effect the result in any case. THE POSITIVE EXPERIENCE OF OTHER FOOTBALL CLUBS In the UK perhaps the best example of a large and successful club holding fair and free elections is Charlton Athletic. The original Charlton electorate was for fans who paid into a scheme to get the club back to their Valley ground and after 10 years this was extended to all adult season ticket holders. The club retain the right to refuse a candidate although interestingly they didn't exercise this at the last election despite one of the candidates being an ex-employee sacked for insulting Crystal Palace fans while working as the pitch side announcer. The election were by ballot paper at the ground or on-line with Membership numbers required for each vote. The Electoral Reform Society gave the club guidance and support but the votes were checked by club staff and two previous elected directors. Clubs as large and successful as Rangers, such as FC Barcelona and SV Hamburg, conduct regular elections amongst their members and many other football clubs have successfully reconciled the need to operate a successful business with ensuring that supporters are directly represented. For other practical examples, please also find attached the detailed voting procedures at Southampton, Brentford and Cambridge United. RECOMMENDATION We suggest that the Club publicly embarks on the route described by the Chairman at the 2007 AGM and gives notice that each season ticket and shareholder will be granted a vote to elect a fansââ?¬â?¢ representative to the Rangers board. Candidates should put themselves forward subject to a Declaration and successful vetting by Disclosure Scotland. One month before the election candidates would submit a 500-word manifesto which would explain what they consider they would bring to the board and a nomination form signed by 50 stakeholders. The manifestos and ballot papers would then be sent out to members. Ballot papers can be returned either via the post, in secure postboxes at Ibrox or via internet voting - the Electoral Reform Society can both expand and advise on these methods as well as providing logistics and support as required.
  21. Hemdani accepts rotation policy Hemdani says he does not have a problem with the rotation policy Rangers midfielder Brahim Hemdani says he accepts manager Walter Smith's squad rotation policy - despite making only two SPL appearances this season. Hemdani, who has been superb for Rangers in the Champions League, said: "I accept the choices of the manager and I've said it many times." The midfielder was linked with a move away from Ibrox earlier in the season. "It was only speculation. There were many noises at this time, I don't know why," he told the club's website. Hemdani said he was happy at Ibrox and that he was aiming to play as many games as possible. Regarding Smith's squad rotation policy, Hemdani said: "This is how it is at the moment. "If you are playing in the Champions League it is not easy for everybody. But if you play at Rangers you know the situation. "It's always important to have the support of the fans, and I carry on and try to give me best for the team and the club." Hemdani said he believed Rangers could win the SPL title this season, despite losing 1-0 to Hibs at Ibrox on Saturday. "We are here to do it," he said. "I think we have a big chance to win the league. If we have consistency - which we didn't have last year - then I think we can do well." ---- you've got to wonder how much you read is pure speculation and nothing more. in the world of the modern media the 'no smoke without fire' maxim cant be as generally accepted. if we are really to believe hemdani in this interview then he's willing just to do what smith says for the benefit of the team. anything else is just mischief-making. but what to believe?
  22. Yesterdays performance was nothing short of disgracefull. Tactics, team selection and formation were way off again and the one man to pick up the can and take the blame is Walter Smith. His undying loyalty to Whittaker and to a lesser extent Thompson knows no bounds and as for playing ferguson out of position behind boyd, well only walter knows the answer to that one. Did we have a game plan yesterday? If so what the hell was it? And why did walter leave it so late to change the personell after hibs scored? even stevie wonder could see that nothing was going right. seems to me that walter is sacrificing the SPL for the CL at the moment. weaker squads for the SPL are a common occurence now and we can only expect our best players for the European scene. It looks like (at least to me) that there is a hidden agenda here. Making it past the group stages in CL would be a major boost for the clubs finances and our manager seems to see this as our top priority. But even that doesnt explain walters mystifying team selections in the SPL. He only said during the week that boyd is not a lone striker and needs a partner only to leave him isolated against Hibs. And a 4 4 1 1 formation at home with Ferguson as Boyds wingman ? And where the hell is Novo & Gow? Ive been impressed with Novo any time hes played this season and surely Gow must be knocking on the managers door for a piece of the action. Buffel too must be in with a shout. Dont think they could do any worse than some at the minute. If walter continues to play underachievers he will do the more damage than good. i single out whittaker in particular as he has been the biggest culprit. It certainly looks as if his nerves are shot and is fast becoming a target for the boo boys in the stands. This guy needs a spell on the bench. he contributes nothing to the team and you can see the confidence draining from him with every touch of the ball. If walters not careful he could finish the players Ibrox career by chrismas. Just a quick note for Walter. There was a touch of arrogance in his interview after the game that gordon strachan would have been proud of. Dont be smart with the fans Walt. You got it wrong again and you should put your hands up and admit it. Everyone can see it so dont take us all for fools mate.
  23. Now, before going on, I doff my cap to the Celtc (Ã?© Green Brigade) PR Machine as it once again roars into action trying to defend the indefensible. If only we had a similar set-up at Ibrox, we wouldnââ?¬â?¢t be subject to weekly complaints from MOPES, TWATS and unbiased media outlets. However, I find the latest spin-doctoring from the east end very hard to swallow. The latest example of Celtc fans encroaching the field during a game is arguably the most ââ?¬Ë?high-profileââ?¬â?¢ but it is hardly the first time they have been guilty of such an offence. In recent years, this has been almost an annual occurrence at Celtc games, especially at Parkhead. Hell, Celtc fans even go to games of their greatest rivals and invade the pitch ââ?¬â?? could it be said that they are not normal pitch invaders? Now, I am not arguing that Dida made a ââ?¬Ë?shop-frontââ?¬â?¢ of the whole episode. In fact, he would have been better served taking the John Brown approach. When a Celtc fan decided that heââ?¬â?¢s seen enough of Rangers papping his team and decided to attack Ally Maxwell, Bomber simply bundled the guilty party into the net and proceeded to ââ?¬Ë?restrainââ?¬â?¢ him until the Police arrived on the scene. However, Didas antics shouldnââ?¬â?¢t be under scrutiny here. The simple fact of the matter is that once again, an opposing player has been attacked by a fan at Parkhead. I found it ironic that Gordon Strachan declined to comment on the issue last night ââ?¬â?? surely someone who has been on the receiving end of a right hook from a Celtc fan would be well placed to comment on how it feels to be attacked whilst plying your trade. I am sure that WGS hasnââ?¬â?¢t forgotten being attacked from the Jungle in his Aberdeen days? Quinn has been quick to tell anyone whole listen that they will be swift to act (although the culprit handed himself over, made his job a bit easier) and the fan has been banned for life. Quinn has also stated that there will be a review of security. Talk about closing the door after the horse has bolted. The whole herd have not only bolted, but escaped down the Gallowgate, onto the Renfrew ferry and were last seen grazing of the West Coast of Scotland. Let me digress here as Quinn is a clever fellow. He has continually stated that Celtc donââ?¬â?¢t have a problem with sectarian (or political or offensive) singing, yet he has felt the need to chair ââ?¬Ë?secret meetingsââ?¬â?¢ (are they turning into Masons?) with fans groups pleading with them to drown out sectarian, political and offensive sung at Parkhead ââ?¬â?? why call meetings Mr Quinn if you havenââ?¬â?¢t gotten a problem? I believe Frankie highlighted the true extent of their problem by posting You Tube clips recently. I wonder why the media and Uefa havenââ?¬â?¢t picked up on these as yet ââ?¬â?? they were quick to find and use You Tube footage of Rangers fans recently? See, this is more spin from the spin-masters at Parkhead. If Liewell and Quinn are to be believed, let them answer this question. How long is it since Fernando Ricksen was struck with a lighter at Parkhead and has the culprit been identified and banned? While we await a response on that incident, I wonder if their PR machine could remind us of how many fans were identified and banned after the Celtc Shame Game where at least 3 fans invaded the pitch and attacked the linesman, referee and Jorg Albertz? Not forgetting the barrage of coins that were thrown at Rangers players and Hugh Dallas, resulting in a head injury to the referee. Again, whilst we are awaiting an update, could they also confirm if the person responsible for rearranging Hugh Dallasââ?¬â?¢ windows ever received a ban? I think youââ?¬â?¢ll find him dining out bi-weekly in the corporate boxes at Parkhead. So in summary, Celtc have ââ?¬Ë?historyââ?¬â?¢ for pitch invasions (I have barely scratched the surface) and are clearly still flaunting UEFA, SFA and SPL guidelines on sectarian, political and offensive songs with impunity. However, given the high profile nature of the opposition and game last night, I can not see them escaping so easily this time. If only the UEFA and SPL representatives would open their ears to the repugnant chanting as well. Cammy F
  24. Saturday, 6 October 2007 _____________________________________Time_____TV Dundee United v Motherwell_____________15:00 Hearts v Falkirk________________________15:00 Kilmarnock v Inverness CT_______________15:00 Rangers v Hibernian____________________15:00 Sunday, 7 October 2007 Aberdeen v St Mirren____________________15:00 Gretna v Celtic_________________________15:00____** Looking at the fixtures, we can see that it is Rangers who have the most difficult fixture again this weekend, with a visit to Ibrox of third placed Hibs. Hibs have been playing well of late with a win over Celtic at Easter Road the most noticeable result. Away from home they have mostly recorded draws with only a win at Tynecastle on day one giving them three points. Rangers have yet to drop a point at Ibrox and their confidence will be sky high after Tuesdays 3-0 win in Lyon. Lets hope it is confidence and not complacency. If Rangers are going to be real title contenders then we have to take these matches in our stride. Rangers should take the three points but it wont be easy we will have to come out fighting from the start. Rangers win. Dundee United and Motherwell cross swords at Tannadice on Saturday. Motherwell are probably showing the best form in the SPL at the moment with a draw against Rangers last week, and a 4-1 win in the CIS cup against Hibs a few days earlier. United had the chance to top the league a few weeks ago, but two defeats in their last two games see them in fourth place on the same points as Motherwell, with United having a better goal difference. I fancy Motherwell to keep their good form going and get the win. Motherwell win. Hearts welcome Falkirk to Tynecastle and will be hoping that there recent run of form will continue against a Falkirk team that have lost their way this season. Hearts have in fact only beat Rangers at home this season with a loss to Hibs and a draw against Gretna the other scores. If Falkirk are wanting to avoid a relegation fight then they must start to find the form that gave them so many plaudits last season. I would think Hearts will come out on top on this one and continue to climb the league. Hearts win. Kilmarnock and Inverness meet at Rugby park and is in my eyes is the most difficult game to predict. Inverness have hit a vain of form winning their last two league games. Kilmarnock have been the strongest of the small teams for the last few years but they have been showing poor form of late, mostly lacking imagination to break down defenses. Apart from Hibs scoring four goals against Kilmarnock, they have been pretty solid at the back losing very few goals. I feel this could be the goalless draw game of the week. Draw St Mirren go up to Pittodrie on Sunday to meet an Aberdeen team riding on a high after qualifying for the UEFA group stages. This also means since Aberdeen played on Thursday evening and having had a journey home from the Ukraine, they may have a degree of tiredness in their legs. If I was Gus McPherson I would tell my team to keep the tempo of the game high, in the hope that Aberdeen tire. St Mirren are hard to break down and with Aberdeen having heavy legs I fancy another draw for this one as well. Draw, Celtic travel to fir park to take on bottom of the league Gretna and why Setanta have chosen this for their live game I will never know. Surely Rangers- Hibs or even Dundee united- Motherwell would be far better viewing, I suppose it is that Irish thing, Celtic are Also on a high after their win against AC Milan and will probably give some of their fringe players a place to rest other players. They may wait until they are a couple of goals up to make some changes though. I dont think even the most optimistic amongst us think Gretna can get anything from this game. Celtic Win
  25. Lyon Coach: I Wish My Stars Were like Ferguson LYON manager Alain Perrin last night branded Ibrox skipper Barry Ferguson "a captain to kill for" and revealed he wished he had players like him in his squad. Rangers' Champions League rivals have had a stuttering start to their season and their boss is under fire from the French press following their opening Euro defeat to Barcelona. In-fighting in the Lyon camp - with Sydney Govou clashing with Juninho over the stand-in captaincy in the absence of injured Gregory Coupet - has not helped Perrin. Now he wants his more experienced stars to take a leaf out of Fergie's book. He said: "Barry Ferguson is simply a fabulous leader, the kind any team would kill to have. His influence is everywhere. "There has been an issue of leadership in my team since the injury to Gregory. But it's not about the captaincy, it's about players taking full collective responsibility. "We don't have someone like Ferguson who has that attitude running through his veins."
