  1. It's about 10 weeks since Gersnetters donated towards the cost of the Brian Laudrup article published in a Danish newspaper, which I covered from my own funds. Donations totalling £157.96 were made and still sit in my Paypal account. I'd like to invite suggestions how best this money might be used in the interests of the Rangers community and I'll be happy to transfer it to Gersnet admin to use for whatever purpose attracts most support. Over to Gersnet members............
  2. The daily record and scottish sun are both carrying this story that miller will quit rangers during the january transfer window after transfer talks broke down??, I'm hoping this is just romours and this is not the case but rangers really should be pulling out all the stops to hold on to our top striker!!, you really have to ask what is going on at murray park! I'm very worried tbh
  3. The consortium of Craig Whyte and Andrew Ellis want to complete their £33 million purchase of Sir David Murray's shares within the next month. Craig Whyte and Andrew Ellis will hold talks with senior Rangers officials next week, as they look to step up their joint efforts to buy Sir David Murray's shareholding in the Ibrox club. STV understands the duo want the deal, worth £33 million, to be concluded by Christmas but have conceded privately it may take until the new year to finalise the sale. The takeover, which will wipe out the club's £27.5 million debt to Lloyds TSB, is understood to be at an advanced stage. Whyte and Ellis will also pay shareholders, including Murray, a total of £5.5 million as part of their proposals. If the deal for Murray's 92 per cent shareholding is completed, Whyte will own 69 per cent of the club's shares, with Ellis - who failed in his own attempts to buy the club earlier this year - holding 23 per cent. As part of their plans, £25 million will be invested in Rangers' first team squad over a period of five years, with transfer funds being made available to Walter Smith in the January transfer window if the takeover is concluded in time. News of the pair's bid first broke on November 18, with Whyte and Rangers both putting out statements to the Stock Exchange confirming a possible offer. Nearly two weeks on, evident progress has been made in a bid Whyte's solicitor confirmed as being "at an early stage". Talks between Whyte, Ellis and club officials were also yet to take place at that point. 5. CELTIC and Rangers are involved in a bitter transfer scrap for the signature of Ibrox wonderkid Dylan McGeogh. SunSport can reveal the Hoops are in pole position to dramatically grab back the Scotland youth star - three years after a swap deal with their fierce rivals which saw McGeogh go to Murray Park and Sean Fitzharris join Celts. However, it would also be likely to cost them a six-figure tribunal fee for the midfielder who is out of contract next May. Celtic moved after hearing that the 17-year-old rejected a lucrative new Ibrox deal. Gers are furious at the idea of losing the top kid and they are working overtime to persusade him his future is better served by staying. 6. If you believe everything you read. The same paper who brought us the Kenny Miller story are now saying that Juventus and Inter will battle it out in January for Brown's 5M signature...
  7. Danny Wilson has been handed his first real chance to break into the Liverpool first team, with Rangers hoping that he can capitalise on an opening created by Jamie Carragherââ?¬â?¢s shoulder injury. Carragher, who sustained a dislocation against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, will be out for three months and yesterday Wilson was immediately promoted to the side to start against Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League tomorrow evening. Although he earned his first senior Scotland cap in the 3-0 victory over the Faroe Islands last month, the only Liverpool game he has appeared in was their penalty shoot-out defeat to Northampton Town in the Carling Cup. Rangersââ?¬â?¢ interest in Wilson is more than just the normal goodwill towards a product of their youth development system. He left for Ã?£2m in July but there are substatial ââ?¬Å?add-onââ?¬Â payments with financial rewards for the Ibrox club if and when he starts his first Barclays Premier League game and again when he reaches 10, 20 and subsequent appearance triggers. Roy Hogdson, the Liverpool manager, spoke with the 19-year-old before the Faroes match and told him he had been impressed with his work and attitude since moving south in the summer. Hogdson is known generally to prefer experience over youth, which may mean Wilson has longer to wait than would be the case at other clubs, but so far there have been no discussions about sending him out on loan when the transfer window opens in January. The long-term absence of Carragher has moved him up the pecking order. Martin Skrtel and the former Rangers defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos are their other available, senior centre-halves. Daniel Agger is out with a calf injury. Hodgson said: ââ?¬Å?Martin Kelly and Danny Wilson will start against Steaua Bucharest and itââ?¬â?¢s a great opportunity for them to stake a claim to be in the first team. On paper Iââ?¬â?¢m taking a weakened team, but I believe people like Joe Cole, Ryan Babel, Milan Jovanovic, Danny Wilson, Christian Poulsen and Jonjo Shelvey are more than capable of doing a good job for Liverpool.ââ?¬Â Wilsonââ?¬â?¢s former Murray Park clubmate, Kyle Hutton, said he was an example to all young Scottish players. ââ?¬Å?I played with Danny in the under-19s. Seeing what heââ?¬â?¢s done, making his Scotland debut after getting a move to Liverpool, shows that the rewards are there. That gives you added confidence to go and prove yourself.ââ?¬Â http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/rangers/wilson-s-promotion-to-liverpool-first-team-benefits-rangers-1.1071768

  9. Jim Sinclair believes there are more young players waiting in the wings capable of following Kyle Hutton and Gregg Wylde into Rangers' first team. Hutton's first start was against Man Utd in the Champions League, while Wylde has been a regular off the bench. "I am delighted that so many kids are getting the opportunity to play," said Rangers' academy director, Sinclair. "And I genuinely feel there are others who can contribute as the weeks and months go on." Rangers manager Walter Smith's hand has been forced by a debt burden that has limited his manoeuvres in the transfer market - and by a lengthy list of injuries to key players. "Whether or not it is the circumstances around the club at the moment, which are not particularly healthy as we are all aware financially, they are getting an opportunity," said Sinclair. Just standing there next to the Manchester United players and the music, it was a great feeling Rangers midfielder Kyle Hutton "But getting an opportunity is one thing. It's being able to take it and hopefully they are equipped to do so - and I think they are. "We are really pleased at the chances and opportunities the manager has seen fit to give these young boys." Central defender Danny Wilson became a first-team regular last season aged 18 but refused a new contract and was sold to Liverpool in the summer, since when he has been in the reserves at Anfield. Forward John Fleck made his debut aged 16 in January 2008 but has yet to establish himself as a regular starter, but Sinclair believes that Smith will ensure that defender Wylde and midfielder Hutton do not get carried away by their new-found status. "I think the manager deals with that very well," said the youth boss. "He has a good feel for things and when to take the pressure off and have responsibility. "I think there are enough senior players in the squad to make sure that these lads are not asked too much of and also handle it properly." Sinclair was speaking at the launch of the Community Cashback Initiative, which offers all registered youth teams the opportunity to raise money for their clubs and access to reduced-price match tickets for Rangers' home league games. He was delighted to be able to put money back into grassroots football and, when asked about the standard of young Scottish players, remarked: "I do think there are too many people working too hard at youth development for us not to see some recovery." Hutton was given his chance after Kyle Lafferty fell and broke a finger while larking about with Wylde as they came off the team bus on the day of last week's Group D game at Ibrox. Sinclair joy at young Gers' success Fellow 19-year-old Wylde recalled: "It was just a wee incident coming off the bus and it was his fault, so he can't complain too much. "I was just happy for Kyle (Hutton), but after the incident I was bit scared about what the gaffer was going to say. "I didn't think at the start of the season I would have been involved throughout with the first team and hopefully I can get more games. "Kyle playing against Manchester United and a few others being involved in the first-team just shows that the gaffer's got belief in the young ones." Hutton joked that he would have to give Wylde "a pat on the back" and himself appeared to take playing against Sir Alex Ferguson's side in his stride. "It was absolutely great getting a start, particularly in the Champions League against Manchester United," he said. "Just standing there next to the Manchester United players and the music, it was a great feeling. Obviously, after that, the roar of the crowd is just fantastic. "I will never forget it, but nothing has changed. I will just keep doing what I have been doing and hopefully I will get another chance. "It is all down to me to see if I can take those chances and, who knows, maybe I can try to cement my place." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/9244416.stm

  12. How many threads this man used to create;). There were a lot for Boyd and a lot against him,'' shite player but great goal scorer '' was the common description of him. For the record I was a fan of Boyd, although I also agreed with the '' shite player but great goal scorer ''. When he left the Rangers I was dissapointed and also angry that he basically walked away from Rangers, angry because if he was going to leave then I felt he should have gone to Birmingham in the January transfer window and at least we would have got a decent amount of money for him, what really irked me though was when he was asking for a new contract to put him in line with Kenny Miller,I agreed with him, correct me if I'm wrong but he was offered that contract, then he said he wasn't signing until he was sure that Walter Smith was staying on as manager, then when WS said he was staying he then left anyway:ffs:. Now I know and agree with the fact that he ,or any other player,is entitled to see out his contract and leave but for a player who was on the whole a hero for most Rangers fans,me included, was it simply the money he left for or are there other factors which we don't know about??. He is a Rangers fan and was at the last game against the BHEASTS as a fan so what I'm wondering is how many of us Rangers fans thinks he regrets moving from Rangers ??, I mean he got his move and his money but surely as a Rangers fan he must be thinking he made the wrong decision to leave no ?, or do you think he is happy with his choice because of the money he has earned ?, or is it just me thinking that as a Rangers supporter?. For the record I never wanted him to leave, especially for nothing, but I know we don't miss him as much as I and a lot of fans thought mainly due to the fact that Kenny Miller has been banging the goals in. I just think the guy would have been better of staying at Rangers for himself as a player and fan.
  13. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3231766/Ill-be-Walts-Oscar-winner.html Honduran guy on FM forum that I use suggests the guy is a fine player and that the interest is genuine. Can't so I know anything about him but hopefully we are interested in adding players to the squad.
  14. Strange one but it just goes to show how frail the Scotland defence is when a player who has only played one 1st team game this season will be named in the squad.
  15. Here we go again:) Spanish giants Sevilla have become the latest big-name club to show an interest in Rangers keeper Allan McGregor. SportTimes understands the La Liga side had a delegation at Rangersââ?¬â?¢ Champions League clash with Valencia on Tuesday to run the rule over the Ibrox No.1 It now looks almost certain that following his heroics against Spain for Scotland, and his display in the Mestalla, McGregor will be the subject of a bid either in the January transfer window or the summer. McGregor is also believed to be on the radar of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as he looks to find a successor for veteran keeper Edwin Van der Sar. However, Gers have moved quickly to make sure that they have long-term cover in place with McGregorââ?¬â?¢s deputy, Neil Alexander, penning a new deal to stay at Ibrox until 2013. Alexander said: ââ?¬Å?I have always said that I am happy at Rangers. As a young boy growing up you look at Rangers as one of the top clubs in the world and I always wanted to play for a club like that. ââ?¬Å?I have worked my whole career to get to a club like Rangers so why would I want to be in a hurry to leave? ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢m just delighted to be involved in the tremendous successes at Rangers. I hadnââ?¬â?¢t won a lot before I came to Rangers and now I have won every domestic honour going so itââ?¬â?¢s fantastic. I am very keen to win more.ââ?¬Â With McGregor in the form of his life, Alexanderââ?¬â?¢s only SPL appearance this season came when the Gers number one was suspended for the 4-1 win over Motherwell. He has also been given the nod by manager Walter Smith in the Co-operative Insurance Cup this term, while the former Cardiff and Ipswich keeper has played in four cup finals since arriving at Ibrox in January 2008. The 32-year-old said: ââ?¬Å?Obviously I would like to play more when these games come along itââ?¬â?¢s great.ââ?¬Â http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/sevilla-join-chase-for-keeper-allan-mcgregor-1.1066281

  19. http://sport.stv.tv/football/scottish-premier/rangers/205281-rangers-kerkar-move-on-hold-due-to-compensation-claim/ Rangers continued attempts to complete the signing of Salim Kerkar have been delayed by a planned compensation claim by the playerâs former club. FC Gueugnon, who play in Franceâs third tier, believe they are entitled to a figure of up to 360,000 Euro (£314,285) from the SPL side for training the player over a period of six years. Kerkar, who has been training with Rangers since August, is a free agent, having left the Championnat National side in the summer when his contract expired. However, under FIFA rules, the French club could be entitled to payments for having trained the player since 2004 until shortly before his 23rd birthday on August 4 this year. Under the world football governing bodyâs regulations on the status and transfer of players, Gueugnon believe they are entitled to money for their role in Kerkarâs development, despite allowing his contract to lapse at the end of last season. Rule 20 of the regulations state a club who has developed a player are entitled to compensation every time his registration transferred until the end of the season which his 23rd birthday falls within, regardless of whether the player is under contract to the claimant club. The Algerian midfielder turned 23 on August 4 this year, two days before the new season officially started for Gueugnon. However, FIFAâs definition of when a new season begins is the day on which the first match is played, unless a club can state a case otherwise. As far as Kerkarâs former side are concerned, their former playerâs birthday fell within the confines of the 2010/11 campaign. For that reason, they are preparing to present an argument to FIFA for compensation to be paid to them upon Kerkar completing his transfer to the SPL. There remain several contestable issues within FIFAâs regulations as to how much Rangers would have to pay to sign Kerkar, if Gueugnonâs argument is accepted. The minimum they would be asked to pay is 180,000 Euro (£157,148) but that figure could be as high as 360,000 Euro (£314,285) depending on the calculation of the playerâs training period and the categorisation of the two clubs. However, FIFA's dispute resolution chamber have the power to adjust any amount claimed, if they deem the level of compensation is "clearly disproportionate to the case under review". Rangers have continually cited issues with the playerâs paperwork as the reason for the transfer not going through, having first attempted to push the deal through early in September. The SPL club are still able to register and play Kerkar if they so wish but, if FIFA rule that Gueugnon are entitled to compensation, Rangers would be liable to pay out within 30 days of the date the registration was processed by the SFA. Rangers have been trying to force through the transfer of Kerkar for several weeks, with the player himself even travelling back to France in order to try and resolve the situation
  20. Liverpool are rumoured to be lining up a January move for Blackpool star Charlie Adam. Roy Hodgson has reportedly been scouting the former Rangers man this season and after the 24 year old put in a great performance to help his side to a famous win at Anfield the chances of a bid from the Merseyside club have significantly increased. The attacking midfielder has also apparently fallen out with his Bloomfield Road club over unpaid bonuses which could give the talented Scot the excuse he needs to leave the club he helped to a surprise promotion to the Premier League last season. Charlie Adam clearly realises that he has become the focal point for Ian Hollowayâs side but also knows that the chance of a move to high profile club such as Liverpool does not come around very often and his unhappiness with the clubâs attitude towards a £20k owed payment could spark his desire to leave the club. Roy Hodgson has been looking for ways to add creativity to his brittle side and could well feel that the in form Dundee born midfielder could be just the man for the job. Adam netted 17 goals last season and helped create just as many and his vision and flair appear to have led to his being placed on the under fire Liverpool bossâs transfer wish-list. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/10/28/liverpool-boss-keen-on-move-for-9m-rated-blackpool-midfielder-charlie-adam/
  21. KYLE LAFFERTY has lifted the lid on his secret signing talks with Celtic - and revealed he told Gordon Strachan he could NEVER join them. The Rangers striker snubbed the Hoops in July 2008 when the Parkhead side looked favourites to sign him. Instead Lafferty joined boyhood heroes Rangers from Burnley and he said: "Gordon Strachan really wanted me and I think there were two or three transfer windows where he tried to sign me. "But once I heard Rangers wanted me too my mind was made up instantly. "I had to be honest with Gordon. I didn't want to tag him along. I thought it was the best way to be. "I didn't want to tell Gordon I wanted to play for Celtic knowing deep down that I didn't. "My heart wouldn't have been in it if I'd gone to Celtic. "So I had to be straight with Gordon. "I respect him as a manager and I genuinely appreciated his interest in me. "But it was an easy choice for me to join Rangers - and it's been the right choice. "Gordon thanked me for being honest with him. I think he's a nice guy and he's someone I regard as a top manager." Lafferty had to play a waiting game before Gers boss Walter Smith was given the go-ahead to open talks with the Northern Ireland striker. He said: "Celtic made a few offers for me at the same time as Rangers. I think there was a bit of a bidding war. "But deep down I knew where I really wanted to go. Being a Rangers fan I didn't want to go to the other side of the city. "Signing for Rangers was the realisation of a boyhood dream and it's been fantastic to have been a part of two title-winning teams." 23. RYAN Harper will pull a Scotland shirt over his shoulders on Tuesday night and pray the next time it happens he isnââ?¬â?¢t sitting in a Spanish bar. The Scots-born winger outlined his international ambitions yesterday after signing a two-year deal with Spanish cracks Real Betis. And he confessed he would even give up a chance to play for the world champions because all his dreams are cloaked in dark blue. Harper, 23, has been handed a shot at the club-level big time by Betis coach Pepe Mel, just weeks after signing for their B team at the start of the season. He came to their attention after scoring a glut of goals in the previous two years with minnows Villaneuva and Estepona. Real Betis currently lead the Spanish First Division and are favourites to return to the top flight next season to face giants such as Real Madrid and Barcelona again. Harper hopes to help lead them there ââ?¬â?? and catch the eye of Scotland boss Craig Levein in the process, even though the Barrhead-born youngster left our shores as a kid. His younger brother Jack, 14, has commanded most of the sporting attention in the family until now after signing with Real Madrid, where his form grows ever-more impressive. But big brother has been the focus of media attention these last few days after signing for Betis the week before Scotland take on his adopted nation at Hampden. Harper said: ââ?¬Å?I donââ?¬â?¢t have digital television in my rented flat in Seville so it will be training in the morning then off to a bar with my Scotland shirt on to watch the game with Spanish fans. ââ?¬Å?Before this week, I donââ?¬â?¢t think the SFA even knew I existed. Iââ?¬â?¢ve just popped up out of the blue and theyââ?¬â?¢ve obviously never had a chance nor the inclination to watch me in action. ââ?¬Å?I hope they have heard of me now because I would love to represent Scotland. Iââ?¬â?¢m Scottish through and through, even though I moved to Spain with the family when I was seven years old. ââ?¬Å?If I ever had to choose between Spain or Scotland there would be only one decision to take ââ?¬â?? Scotland. Iââ?¬â?¢m very patriotic. ââ?¬Å?I can only hope if I secure a regular game at Betis at this level ââ?¬â?? and weââ?¬â?¢re first in the league and favourites to return to the Primera ââ?¬â?? Iââ?¬â?¢ll pop into Craig Leveinââ?¬â?¢s thoughts. ââ?¬Å?But itââ?¬â?¢s not just at international level. Iââ?¬â?¢d love to return to the UK one day and play in either the SPL or the Premiership.ââ?¬Â Harperââ?¬â?¢s dad John was a junior football stalwart before taking the family to Spain. His sons are evidence of the familyââ?¬â?¢s sporting genes and Harperââ?¬â?¢s career is back on track after previous setbacks when he tried to make it in the SPL. The boyhood Rangers fan said: ââ?¬Å?I agreed a deal with Hamilton a few years ago but my second division side Poli Ejido refused to sign release papers. They wanted a transfer fee, which wasnââ?¬â?¢t part of the deal. ââ?¬Å?I was at Inverness last summer but arrived in Scotland with a stinking cold and didnââ?¬â?¢t do myself justice. ââ?¬Å?I wasnââ?¬â?¢t even there for a week and was only given 20 minutes of a bounce game to impress. ââ?¬Å?However, I had a brilliant season last year with Estepona and ended up top goalscorer with 14 goals, even though I was playing on the wing. ââ?¬Å?I attracted interest from a couple of teams but the Real Betis B coach called a week before the new campaign and it was an easy decision. Iââ?¬â?¢ve scored three goals in six games and that led to the offer of a two-year contract from the top team. Iââ?¬â?¢ve set a target of 15 goals minimum for the season. ââ?¬Å?I put pen to paper too late for this weekendââ?¬â?¢s game at Las Palmas but hopefully Iââ?¬â?¢ll make my debut at home to Girona next weekend.ââ?¬Â Harper was in demand this week as the Spanish media pinned him down for the inside track on Scotland ahead of the Group I clash in Glasgow. He said: ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢d take a draw right now, anything more would be sensational. ââ?¬Å?Spain really are the Barcelona of international football and even play like the club side. Vicente del Bosque can call on nine players from the Nou Camp for his squad. ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢ve been fortunate enough to play against several of the Spanish side when I represented the Andalucian select side when I was a teenager. Players such as Jesus Navas, Sergio Ramos and Diego Capel represented other regions and you could see their class, even as 15 year olds. They rarely lost the ball and were always in control.ââ?¬Â They are beginning to say the same about another youngster in that country ââ?¬â?? Jack, who was born in Spain but has already attended a training camp for Scotlandââ?¬â?¢s Under-15s at Largs. Another winger, he is being schooled in football and lessons by Real Madrid after impressing on the youth circuit around the familyââ?¬â?¢s home town Fuengirola. Harper added: ââ?¬Å?Jackââ?¬â?¢s doing brilliantly. Heââ?¬â?¢s only 14 but performing well against players a year or two older ââ?¬â?? and heââ?¬â?¢s growing fast.ââ?¬Â http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/scotland/2010/10/09/i-d-snub-world-champions-spain-to-earn-caps-for-scotland-says-real-betis-scots-star-ryan-harper-86908-22620836/
