  6. Just been sent an amazing image of a 1924 letter which invites James Bowie (later our chairman) onto the RFC board. Former player Bowie, later became chairman in 1935 for 12 years before the author of the letter, W. Rogers Simpson succeeded him. You can read more about the events of that period via this superb TRS article from last year: http://www.therangersstandard.co.uk/index.php/articles/club-history/261-the-1947-battle-for-the-blue-room-and-its-consequences-today The letter (in amazing condition) has been found inside an original version of the 'The story of Rangers 187

  8. It has been less than 2 weeks since RangersFirst was launched with the aim of purchasing shares in Rangers in order to achieve transparent, authoritative consultation with the club. We have had a fantastic online response with invitations coming from many supporters’ clubs across the UK asking RangersFirst to present the scheme to their club members. We are getting very close to our next milestone of 1000 members and to celebrate this incredible achievement we will be giving away a signed 2003 Rangers top to one of our lucky members. David McLuckie from Denniston has kindly donated thi
  9. STEVEN THOMPSON ticked every box when he was at Rangers. Hitman Thompson was signed by Alex McLeish from Dundee United in 2003 for £200,000 and won it all domestically. Now he returns to Ibrox on Saturday for the first time since leaving in January 2006 with St Mirren. The 32-year-old is desperate to show Gers fans he still has what it takes. Thompson said: "This will be my first time back at Ibrox and I am really looking forward to it. "I had wonderful times there and they are memories I will treasure for the rest of my life. "I won league titles and cups â?? just the

  16. by Matthew Lindsay RANGERS officials are often asked by dignitaries from visiting clubs and their own supporters why there is no club museum. After all, the Glasgow giants, founded way back in 1873, have a rich and colourful history which would fascinate anybody with a love of football. Yet, the answer to these queries is always the same - Ibrox Stadium itself displays all of the items which are of histor-ical significance to the Gers. The many articles of clothing, caps, photographs, paintings, medals, miscellaneous pieces of memorabilia and trophies inside the world-famous Go

  18. What would you like to see the club do to commemorate this anniversary? In 2009 the trophy room will have been opened for 50 years. Now lets try and keep on message here...No SDM plans to close it gags...or rants about a museum (even though we should have one). Having visited it on my last trip home its does have a special feeling as you walk in. Maybe its the anticipation as you walk up the marble staircase past the bust of Mr Struth, the Hall of Fame and that massive portrait of the Wee Blue Devil or just that you can feel the greatness and warmth our club has generated on its many

She was saying to me yesterday she is going to send a box full of Scottish and Glasgow stuff to him so does anyone have any good ideas of what he could be sent? So far we are going to do that bus tour and get a few photos of her all about the place. I just saved some old Glasgow photos from FF, She has been keeping Evening Times for a while. Any help would be appreciated
  20. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rs...98&Itemid=2 This year is the centenary of the birth of Sam English who remains with 44 league goals in a season a club record holder despite achieving this over 70 years ago. Sams Rangers career was prematurely cut short when he had to move to England following the John Thomson tragedy and the hate campaign he and his family suffered from ghouls who blamed him for the young Celtic keepers death. Its the intention of the Sam English Commemoration Committee to mark Sams life and achievements with a varie
