I have never ever ever seen G Rae play on the right side of any part of the midfield, so your logic behind that one baffles me Fraser.

the reason i have said this as he is willing to play for the team in any position

Also he has a great enjine in him which all full backs need to defend and bomb forward

he isnt shy of a challenge and he is a talll guy

so i think this could be the making of gavin rae if le guen puts him in at right back

While you'd expect a good footballer to be able to play in any position, when it comes to top class football, the standard is so high, you usually have to specialise in one or two, which means that without a lot of experience in a position you can end up being quite naive about your decision making - and they rarely do a good job.

That's why we hate players playing out of position.

yeah but i think that gavin could do a good job there as i think he would rather play there and give %110 than sit on the bench every week

Exactly, if you're going to throw a player like Rae, although experienced in the game and does have a good engine as Fraser says, into a new position.... you may as well throw an untested young RB in there, cause they'll do about the same job.

Id like to see Rae this season, but in the centre or left of midfield, not in a position he doesnt know.

But giving 110% every week doesn't meant hat he'd be any good at right back. Most, if not all on here would give PLG 110% every week - doesn't mean we'd make decent right backs :)

That logic is just crazy.

Gavin Rae is not a right back and would be far from my choice to play there.

Hutton

Lowing (currently injured)

Murray

Ricksen

Ponroy

McMillan

That's the players we have who can play in there in my own order of preference. In saying that I wouldn't mind if we bought another player. Anthony Réveillère of Lyon would be my favored signing if we could get the money together as he can also play as a left back as well.

I went for other - Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan. If ever a player was made to be a right back, then it's him. OK, I'm kidding. Hutton isn't good enough, Lowing is too inexperienced as we have Smith on the other side and Burke ahead of Lowing so we need some experience on the flanks, Ricksen, other than his alcohol, firework, porn, Jordan problems is a shit right back. And the Gavin Rae idea sounds like something McLeish would have tried last season!! So Mr Murray has to get the cheque book out I'm afraid! The wee right back at Hibs is pretty good but that would fly in the face of my experienced needed argument!
