Celtic approach Birmingham for their new manager

Recommended Posts

In fairness to eck, given the situation an resources I think he did a remarkable job for us......

I agree. Eck doesnt get the credit he deserves at times.

Brought in to do a job with constrained finances. Did that well. Net income on transfers (yes some of the transfers out were from his predecessors but still.....) and also won a bundle of trophies.

Was actually more successful than St Martin of Neill over the same period of time in terms of trophy haul.

Says it all. Outcompeted (at the time) their most succesful manager since Stein, trophy for trophy, with a net income on transfers.:giruy:

There are some guys who are just purely better at being a No.2 and Steve Clarke seems to be one of them. He gets tons of input and ideas across without the pressure of being the main man. In some ways it works better.

He is the highest paid assistant manager in England and has recently signed a 5 yr contract so there is no way Celtic can afford him.

That could be true Gribz, but until he has a manager's job in his own right we will just never know if he is better at #2 or as a #1.
