Why do some players appear to improve away from Ibrox

The thing about possession football is the tempo you play it at. If you play it at walking pace then you let 11 men get behind the ball. The trick is to be able to change the pace constantly and play the ball round at a high tempo. You also have to be able to defend high up the park so you get the ball back as quick as possible. This is a point where the Dutch say they love playing British teams because of the long ball. They joke that if you give the ball away to a British team they are more than happy to punt it back.

Up until the DU game we were happy to drop back to our own 18 yard line which meant teams could pressure us but with the early defending high up the field we are far more dominant as we get the ball back quicker. You obviously have to have players with pace to play like that as in Beasley and Novo. Will Walter dare to play like that at the Mechano dome, I doubt it to be honest i would imagine it is back to the 18 yard retreat.
