Aye, Where Are You Now Murray

Recommended Posts

Murray told everyone where he stood with respect to Rangers when he failed to attend the recent memorial service to those who died in 1971. Without doubt, Murray buying the club was the worst thing to happen to Rangers in nearly 140 years. What good men and women build out of commitment and goodwill, Murray has singlehandedly dismantled in twenty years of self-promotion and inept management.

It still utterly amazes me that some will buy the line that this is all the bank's fault, as if our owner for the last 22 years has absolutely no control over things at our club.

There is only 1 man to blame for the financial situation we have been in for the last decade, and that man does not work at a bank, or HMRC, but is our 92% shareholder and number one problem, David Murray.

Yet again a posssible takeover (however genuine) has been blown out the water due to the demands of this very same man, who clearly doesnt want out as much as he claims.

Any fans disgust or petitions or questions can and should only be aimed at one man and one man only. There can be absolutely no doubt about that no matter what the bank's role is in this, it could all disappear yesterday if the will of one man was there.

His continued strangulation of our club should be the only off-field interest to all Rangers supporters worldwide, but so many cannot/will not see past him, such is his media prescence and manipulation, and he still rides on the the wave of his first, successful, decade of ownership that some seem to think should be the only memory of this charlatan.

Murray never got to where he is/was without being a good manipulator shrewd at exploiting a given situation and a hard nosed businessman,

but he got burnt big time when the financial climate came crumbling round about him.

He has never had Rangers at heart but only in the last ten years has it been quite evident, some seen it earlier than others unfortunately.

It may not all be the bank's fault but that does not make them blameless - no-one seems to be able to understand why they are squeezing Rangers harder than any other club or other business in the country. The are culpable no matter what Murray did in the past and have no excuses.

The bank cannot be blamed for getting the board to run the club in a sensible and low risk fashion but that is not what they are doing. Sensible is the last adjective to describe our business plan forced on us by a wunch of bankers.

Never been a truer word spoken.

They are squeezing us because they know we are a bunch of half-wits liable to hit massive debt at any given time.

Look at our track record, Advocaat gets given too much money, quite a bit is wasted on poor assets with little resale value. Eventually we seem to hit some sort of safe financial state with the debt slashed, albeit it still runnig into the odd financial problem. Then Smith comes back, is given too much money, again we hit serious debts. Our management and board are incapable of being prudent with money so the bank have every right to protect their cash. Whilst other clubs may be in more severe debt, they are much more progressive clubs than us, 'brands' if you like and tend to be capable of attaining more expensive assets
