And with Steven Whittaker and Maurice Edu struggling with toe and calf injuries respectively boss Ally McCoist is praying that his other international players return to Ibrox fit enough to travel to Inverness this weekend. Papac who missed the friendly defeat to Chelsea last Saturday with a lung problem travelled to Bosnia for a friendly with Greece which would have marked his return to the international team after a five year absence. But he was immediately ruled out of the game after seeking medical help and then being diagnosed with pneumonia. "I arrived in Sarajevo with an inflammation of everything! I feel terrible." he said last night. "I certainly won't be able to play against Greece, but I hope to be ready to play in time for our next qualifiers next month. If I am asked to play, I will." Bosnia boss Sasha Susic said: "Sasa was sent immediately for medical examination when he arrived. And he was diagnosed with pneumonia. "Despite this, he will remain with the team and has even agreed to sit on the bench with me before returning to Rangers." Jelavic meanwhile has handed Rangers another headache by revealing he is set to go for an MRI scan on his knee. The Croatian hitman picked up a knock in last weekend's meaningless friendly against Chelsea, where he netted the opener in a 3-1 defeat - the third game in a row he's scored in this season .And he was forced to pull out of Croatia's friendly in Dublin last night against the Republic of Ireland. However, he's hopeful he will be able to get back to action quickly, although he isn't taking any chances. He said: "I am hoping it is no big deal, but in agreement with the coaches, we decided it was best I missed the match in Ireland.It's very important to heal my knee ahead of our big qualifiers against Malta and Israel next month. I will get a scan which will determine the extent of the injury." Croatia manager Slaven Bilic has however hinted that Jelavic could be out for a spell adding: "I have spoken to spoke to Nikica . He won't play against Ireland because he has pain in his knee and it has got worse and deteriorated since the Chelsea match.But hopefully, he will get better and be ready for our two qualifiers next month." Zappa 0 Posted August 11, 2011 Share Posted August 11, 2011 I hope Naismith and McGregor don't end up with Pneumonia too after playing in that shocking weather at Hampden last night. I'm sure Sasa will be ok because Pneumonia isn't really that serious an illness these days if you're a healthy person. Fingers crossed on a speedy recovery. Worrying news about Jelavic because we really can't afford to lose him to injury. Our squad is starting to look really thin now and that is not good with the Europa League match next week as well. Guest Dutchy Posted August 12, 2011 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Just read on the BBC site that Papac only has a chest infection and is indeed suspended for the ICT and Maribor games anyway, so there should be time for a recovery. I wouldn't rish Jelavic against ICT this weekend as the Maribor game is more important than the game against the highlanders, but I'm sure the management team will know his condition better than me, so he may well play.
