ian1964 10,874
Rangers have signed United States central defender Carlos Bocanegra from St Etienne for an undisclosed fee. The 32-year-old, who has signed a three-year contract, could make his debut against Maribor should he receive international clearance to play. Rangers manager Ally McCoist had been desperate to add to his squad after several injuries in defence ahead of Thursday's Europa League qualifier. Bocanegra had joined St Etienne from Rennes for £400,000 in July 2010. He becomes McCoist's sixth signing of the summer - and the second USA international to join the Ibrox squad within hours. Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, who had already signed a pre-contract agreement to join Rangers in January, was secured earlier after a fee was agreed with Swedish club Orebro. McCoist had one "wild card" signing available to him ahead of Thursday's play-off first leg in Slovenia. And, although Bedoya was free of work permit problems and could have played, the Rangers boss instead registered Bocanegra because of his personnel shortage in defence. David Weir and Kyle Bartley are both missing through injury, while Sasa Papac and Steven Whittaker are suspended. Rangers must now hope that international clearance will come through in time from the French Football Association for the defender who started his career with Chicago Fire, before playing for Fulham and Rennes. Bocanegra, who has won 93 caps for his country, is expected to join another summer signing, Romania international Doran Goian, in the heart of the defence in Slovenia. He swells the ranks of USA squad players in the Ibrox dressing-room to three and could play alongside midfielder Maurice Edu against Maribor. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14536750.stm I honestly think this is a cracking signing. Looking forward to 4 in a row:spl::spl::spl::spl:

ian1964 10,874
He's not signed..............................according to the Express:grin: Rangers thought another deal in the region of Ã?£400,000 could be struck with St Etienne for Bocanegra. But the French side are looking to hike up the fee. McCoist added: ââ?¬Å?That's exactly what St Etienne are doing - there is no might beââ?¬Å¡ about it. But heââ?¬â?¢s their player so I canââ?¬â?¢t comment on that. But I do have another two central defenders in mind at his moment in time.ââ?¬Â http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/265633/Rangers-secure-Alejandro-Bedoya-but-not-for-Euro-clash-in-Slovenia

Today's Scottish sport journo on top of their game again do they really hate us so much. On a brighter note Carlos looks the dogs bollocks talks well and conducts himself with dignity everything a Rangers player should be.
