Crazy - Ticketus Backing Paul Murray

Recommended Posts

They don't have anything solid. They've just printed a rumour by the looks of it.

Yep and it's all over my twitter. I would have thought everyone would know not to read that shite rag when it comes to the truth about Rangers!

This is the same paper who called Whyte a billionaire...

From March 1st

Ticketus, meanwhile, has called for a "rapid and successful conclusion" to Rangers' administration process and says it is willing to hold talks with any potential new owners in a bid to help achieve that goal.

The firm paid £24m to secure the right to sell the club's future season tickets, with part of the cash used by the owner Craig Whyte to complete his takeover of the Scottish champions last May.

The club's administrators Duff and Phelps confirmed money from the deal was used by Whyte to pay the club's £18m debt to Lloyds Banking Group when he purchased Sir David Murray's majority shareholding.

The revelation came several days after Rangers were forced to call in the administrators on 14 February over an unpaid tax bill of £9m accrued during Whyte's tenure.

A Ticketus statement said it wants to ensure the ticket purchase agreement entered into with the club is honoured.

"Following a meeting yesterday with Rangers Football Club's administrators Duff and Phelps, Ticketus would like to state its desire for a rapid and successful conclusion to the club's administration process and confirm its willingness to enter into discussions with any serious potential bidders for the club.

"We met with the administrators yesterday to make it clear that we intend to be part of a solution for the club, and to ensure a fast and fair resolution is achieved for all parties. We outlined that this includes working with potential purchasers to help provide various financing solutions to the club that would be attractive to new owners.

"Ticketus believes that the best outcome for Rangers, its fans, Ticketus and our investors is for the administration process to be concluded as soon as possible, with a purchaser found who is able to bring stability to the club.

"Ticketus has an obligation to its investors to pursue all avenues to ensure that the ticket purchase agreement it entered into with the club is honoured, and we are committed to going to the lengths necessary to ensure that the future of the club is preserved and its agreement with Ticketus fulfilled.

"We believe that our investors' interests are aligned to those looking to safeguard the club's future.

"We have already been in contact with a number of other key stakeholders, including potential bidders and fans' representatives, and believe working collaboratively with all parties to create a solution for the club that puts it on a secure financial footing must be everyone's priority.

"Ticketus looks forward to continuing to work with the administrators and serious potential bidders to secure a positive outcome for the club."

Rangers administrators and Ticketus are heading for a major dispute over the season ticket deal that funded Craig Whyte’s takeover.

Mr Whyte sold around 100,000 future season tickets to the London firm for £24.4m to effectively finance his takeover of the Ibrox club.

He used the money to wipe off Rangers’ £18m bank debt to Lloyds Banking Group, while administrators said the rest of the money did not go through the club's books.

Duff and Phelps are believed to be looking into the validity of the season ticket sale to Ticketus and whether it would be possible to remove Rangers from the deal, potentially leaving Mr Whyte to deal with the firm directly.

However, STV understands Ticketus has taken legal advice on several occasions about the validity of the deal and the company remains confident it will withstand any future court challenge from the administrators.

The firm, which has long experience in deals with football clubs in severe financial difficulty, believes that the arrangement would stand regardless of whether Rangers’ assets are sold to a new company and the old one liquidated.

It has stated it has already bought the season tickets from Rangers FC Plc, not loaned the club money, and it is therefore the legal owner.

Ticketus has this week been in discussions with administrators as well as some of the parties that have registered an interest in taking over crisis-hit Rangers.

Last week the company owned by Octopus Investments said it had "an obligation to its investors to pursue all avenues to ensure that the ticket purchase agreement it entered into with the club is honoured, and we are committed to going to the lengths necessary to ensure that the future of the club is preserved and its agreement with Ticketus fulfilled".

No legal action has been initiated by the administrators as of yet, while they have previously stated that Mr Whyte’s secured creditor status has "no value" as the owner does not appear to have invested any money in the club.

Five-way battle

Both Ticketus and the administrators are involved in the five-way court battle over £3.6m that was seized from the account of Collyer Bristow, Mr Whyte's lawyers who brokered the takeover deal.

Two of the companies also laying claim to the cash, Merchant Turnaround and Jerome Group Pension Fund, are linked to Mr Whyte. The case is scheduled to call for a four-day sitting at the High Court in London on March 30.

Mr Whyte’s secured creditor status relates to his floating charge over the assets of Rangers as a result of wiping their bank debt using the Ticketus money.

Last month the owner, who has not returned to Ibrox since administrators were appointed more than three weeks ago, claimed that he is "personally on the line for £27.5m in guarantees and cash" in relation to his dealings at Rangers, including the Ticketus deal.

He also said in a statement that the sale of future season tickets to Ticketus at a reduced price was "without any shadow of a doubt, the best deal for Rangers."

It's the same rag that revealed the Ticketus story which led to the truth about Whyte coming out. They called Whyte a billionaire because that's what whyte's PR guys decribed him as. I'm no lover of the Record but they have been on the ball recently and have done a lot of good about revealing what Whyte is.

I don't want Ticketus to have anything to do with us. I can't believe that they were not complicit in the whole Whyte takeover and would only be interested in us for purely financial short term views.
