Brian Kennedy back in frame for Rangers takeover

Recommended Posts

No-one can sign a player till the transfer window opens. Circling and makeing bids for players under contracts might result in serious punishment, not least given our cicrumstances.

I for one do not believe that any of the players who accepted pay cuts for the club and fans will move anytime soon, surely not before they know the outcome of the administration process.

mate we both know what the rules are. We also know those rules get broken all the time. A wee phone call here, and word in a player ear, it does happen. If we get a new owner soon, he can get the players in and say, as of may 15th (i'm using that date as an example, no other reason) your salaries will go back to what they were, or very close.

That settles players, and more importantly us as fans down and sends out a message that Rangers are now back in a stable financial position.

I believe the players have shown they want to stay at Rangers and are just in the same position as us fans,they/we don't know what will happen.Of course the players will want to know if they are still in a job,but I don't expect any of them to jump ship until they find out what is happening and I'm sure if any other clubs contact any of the players about a potential move the players will tell them they are waiting to find out what is happening with the Rangers which will be appreciated by any other manager. It just gets messier by the day.

A mate told me the law regarding Liquidation changes on the 6th so that may be the reaon for the sudden hurry up.

it would make sense but could there be a loophole that means businesses already in admin would not be subject to this law ?

On a sidenote, there is much speculation about what liquidation means. An FFer's (and my) take on this is:

We wouldn't start with zero titles though, the company gets liquidated, not the club.

Rangers Football Club plc (company) owns Rangers football club (club)

New company (e.g.) Rangers Football Club 2012 (company) buys Rangers Football Club (club)

Rangers Football Club plc (company) is liquidated.

New company Rangers Football Club 2012 (company) now own the Rangers. Rangers (club) have never ceased to exist so we still have our history intact, next time we win the league it will be 55. Its still the same club formed in 1872 and still the same club who won the ECWC in 1972. Just owned by a different company.

And while we are at it, IF the SFA / SPL accepts the NewCo owned club, yet lays on penalties for previous financial "misbehaviour", they accept that the "New Rangers" are indeed the "Old Rangers" and thus, the history as such also remains intact.

And further ... try to check out what happened to Fiorentina. And then try to convince anyone that the Viola of today aren't the Viola that we played against in the 1960s, the Viola managed by Mancini et al. This club folded in a heap, was resurrected as a totally different club and took over the mantle of the Viola later on.

Rangers and their history will only cease if the club is being wound up and players, Ibrox and Murray Park being sold to pay off the debts to the creditors, IMHO.

Liquidation is a red herring, it's a technicality more precisely.

As the post from FF put's it, if the SFA levy sanctions on Rangers Football Club for sins of the previous owners then that is recognition that it is the same football club that has been in existence for 140 years. There is now a media race on to convince you otherwise. The truth doesn't sell Newspapers.

You would think so mate but going by most governments at the moment their after every penny they can get, wouldn't surprise me if they just drew a line in the sand and went right from this day you can't just dodge your debt.
