Green - Are You Convinced?

Recommended Posts

With regards to who takes over the Gers, does my opinion have any impact?

IMO, my opinion would only have impact if it was shared with 50,000 to 60,000 fans.

That's impact.

For the most part I would have to agree, but recent times have taught us well what impact the 'small minority' can have.

That said, I don't really understand your point in the context of discussion.

I'm going to go with my initial gut instinct about Green from the press conference at the weekend:

  • I think he talks rubbish, so I don't trust him.
  • I'm dismayed that Duff & Phelps are prepared to hand over Rangers to him and his "consortium".
  • I'm very concerned.

His meeting with fans on Thursday evening was an opportunity for him to change the minds of anyone with serious doubts and going by the initial reports my mind hasn't been changed.

I'm not making predictions of impending doom or anything, I'm just being honest. I don't like this guy and I don't trust him.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

No I don't trust anybody, its going to take me a good while to trust another owner of our club.

Couldn't agree more.

But someone has to buy us soon or D&P will end up selling stuff on the cheap to keep themselves in a job.

Unless there are any changes in our scenario prior to the 21st then our CVA proposal (via the Green consortium) will be in play.

Assuming that the CVA isn't booted out from square one then it's going to be June 6th before we have any level of clarity ...and even then the certainty won't arrive till the following month.

D&P have for best or worst kept themselves in a job until then

I'm actually feeling quite upbeat about all this, there really is nothing else so it's got to work.

Because there is nothing else, is no guarantee for something to work.

Green has lied to us, Admins have lied about this consortium [where are the Rangers Supporters we were going to be excited about?].

I would take someone with not a lot of money, but would tell us the harsh facts, and had the future of Rangers as his priority.

Rangers supporter bit doesn't bother me look at the mess PM made of it and he's a Rangers supporter, as for number of investors I don't care if it's 5 or 105 as long as somebody wants to invest that's great. If I remember rightly when he said 20 to start with it didn't go down to well because it was too many now all of a sudden we want 20.

I'm not convinced...one way or another!!!

The Green Consortium has certainly said a lot of the right things - I'll be convinced they those words turn into actions.

On the flip side though, he has done nothing to convince me that it's a bad thing.

There are 2 things that he has done so far - reached/signed an agreement for CW's shares, and signed a legal contract to take over the club either via CVA, or newco. That is more than any previous bidder. Based on that he is going to be the owner, whether any of us like it or not.

As for the consortium itself.....as GovanAllan says, I don't care how many folk are in it, as long as they have the required cash and skills in order to initially stabilise the club, then take it forward. I also agree with CG about not revealing the names - what does it matter at this stage??? If the names are revealed, all that will happen is that the mhedia will did up ANYTHING they can find on them, which will only result in more bad press etc.

Lets just get back to doing business where it belongs - behind closed doors. Let the fans get on with what they do best - Supporting the football team!!!

Green has got to do a bit of PR and try to talk up his consortium, it's the nature of these things and why he was put forward to front this stage of it.

I've heard nothing so far that makes me sceptical about the legitimacy of the takeover, he's secured Whyte' s shares, he's faced the SFA and the issues there head on and he's met with fans groups. He's been honest about the prospect of a CVA and he's stuck with it even though the SFA have done their best to put a buyer off.
