Malcolm Murray blamed for blowing chance of SPL reprieve

Recommended Posts

Is it not more likely that Regan's statement the day before, that Rangers would not be allowed into the SPL, decided some minds? This allegation is schoolboy stuff, amateurish and quite frankly laughable if it weren't so serious.

It's an incredible piece. Are they really suggesting that a number of SPL clubs went into that meeting undecided on how they were voting? Really? Because last week all but 3 of them had publicly indicated how they were voting, quite the volte-face. And so, having spent the weekend weighing everything up again, you know, sporting integrity against losing your club/business/personal guarantees, that sort of thing, they then changed their minds without telling their own supporters and the media? Surely not.

So having had their Road to Damascus moment they went into the room at Hampden and saw a document what wasn't up to their personally high standards of document presentation, had a photo of Rangers on the back and thought 'nah, I'm changing my mind again'. Plus that Malcolm Murray sounds like a tosser.

Right you are. These are the people running our game and we wonder why it's in the shitter.

So the chairmen in the audience's thoughts were along the lines of; "Hmmm, re-admitting Rangers to the SPL would prevent the financial meltdown of the game in this country... but this pamphlet looks a bit crappy, and this Malcolm fellow seems full of himself... Got to be a no."

Ridiculous.

I wouldn't for a second suggest that they all voted against us because of Rangers presentation. I do think however that one or two who voted no may well have voted yes if a majority in favor could have been achieved. A meaningless yes vote however would risk financial loss through threatened boycotts to no end.

The SFL vote is starting to look like it'll put us in Div3 with more and more clubs in the lower divisions spouting the same 'sporting integrity' pish as the SPL clubs. This had enough of the SPL clubs worried that they were reportedly wanting to postpone the vote until after the outcome of the SFL vote was known.

What changed? Could be Regan put his foot down and demanded an outcome. Could be the CSC Westminster 'investigation' which was announced today will find that Scottish football needs Government subsidies in our absence. Could be that a few clubs just needed convinced that we were prepared to negotiate in a diplomatic manner as opposed to 'We're Rangers. We're the biggest club in Scotland. You'll die without us'.

Been expecting a story like this today. This will come straight from the Brown supporters, made up with no names behind it.

Tis a little paranoid is it not?.
