Ibrox Stadium - The Future

Recommended Posts

The San Giro cost so little because it was built on the cheap. It needs extra support during the week to keep it up. Remember being in there for a semi-final in 1998 when it was split 50-50 due to Hampden being redeveloped and I was in the Main Stand with my dad. The place is a total cowp. Even if the capacity is bigger than Ibrox we still have a far better stadium.

yes but that's all the main stand which wasn't part of the redevelopment.

Having the lowest ratio of wheelchair spaces to ground capacity in Scotland already compromises the stature of the club as does a waiting list of over 15 years for a space.

There's no way round it without reducing the capacity, Rangers have to increase wheelchair capacity by over 200 spaces the provision of 4 spaces in the Broomloan cost £80k and removed 24 seats, go figure.

if they need to do that then they can stick an extra tier on the govan, copland and broomloan stands.

Do-able but expensive. Not as expensive as say Old Trafford as huge cantilevering would not be necessary - the "goal post" structure could be maintained.

Doing the end stands would probably be no more expensive than filling in the corners properly with cantilevered roofs and provide many more seats.

When you look at the cost of Hampden, then £30m wouldn't seem unreasonable for that.

We'll be lucky if we sell out Ibrox once in at least the next three years, increasing capacity is at best a pipe dream and in reality it would be a total fallacy.

Never said it was a realistic project in terms of demand, just that it is technically possible.
